Chapter 122 The Pawn Cultivated by the Zhao Family

Chapter 122 The Pawn Cultivated by the Zhao Family

Yang Qiming knew that what he said was unreasonable, but when it came to the Yang family, he couldn't show any leniency.

"Heh heh, what, do you want Zeyan to marry Wu Zetian? Or Empress Dowager Cixi? Do you want to ascend to heaven?" The old lady shouted angrily into the phone.

The butler behind him had a terrible headache. In this family, anything related to Yang Qiming was always a source of endless arguments.

“Mother, what are you saying? I just want Zeyan to have a strong backing. We watched Rou’er grow up, we know her very well, don’t we?” Yang Qiming said slowly.

The old lady didn't accept his show of weakness at all; on the contrary, her face turned even worse when she heard Peng Yarou's name.

"Yang Qiming, let me tell you, you can marry Peng Yarou if you want, but you can't ruin Zeyan's life. I know exactly what you're thinking. Don't test my patience. I'm utterly disappointed in this son of yours!"

After the old lady finished speaking, she hung up the phone. The old man and the others who had turned off the phone didn't dare to breathe. The old lady took a deep breath and then turned to look at the old man.

"Old man, what do you think of my performance today?" The old lady looked at the old man with a defiant expression.

The old man chuckled sheepishly, "Of course it's fantastic!"

The old lady grunted twice, "That's more like it. Let's contact the Song family and see!"

She then asked the housekeeper to bring out the family's phone book, and it took her quite a while to find the Song family's contact number.

"Grandma, no one is answering." After several attempts, the housekeeper said helplessly.

"No way, don't they have a housekeeper too?" the old lady asked doubtfully.

"Perhaps they're busy with guests!" the butler said.

The thought that Du Ruoxia might be at the Song family's house immediately made the old lady anxious. "No, you must contact Zeyan and have him go look for her!"

Left with no other option, the butler made another call to another location. Finding Yang Zeyan would take some time, so the butler held the phone and waited.

After about fifteen minutes, the phone rang again, and the butler immediately spoke excitedly.

"Commander Yang?"

Yang Zeyan was taken aback, and asked worriedly, "Has something happened at home?"

The housekeeper quickly explained, telling Yang Zeyan what they had done and what they were thinking.

"Xiaxia isn't at the guesthouse? Did she check out? Or what?" Yang Zeyan looked incredulous; she had clearly promised to wait for him at the guesthouse.

"Did you give the wrong name?" Yang Zeyan asked again.

"That's right, but it wasn't a check-out. I don't have a record of that. The receptionist said that Ms. Du watched your car leave and then she left too," the housekeeper explained.

Yang Zeyan frowned, took a breath, and asked, "Where's Wang Hu?"

The butler glanced at Wang Hu behind him. "Wang Hu has been following us. He said he might have gone to the Yang family. School hasn't started yet."

Yang Zeyan tightened his grip on the microphone. Wang Hu didn't understand Du Ruoxia as well as he did. She was someone who didn't like getting involved in trouble and would never go to the Song family.

He closed his eyes briefly, and when he spoke again, his tone was completely different: "Did she leave on her own, or was she taken away by someone?"

"She left on her own; the receptionist said she went in the direction of the bus stop," the manager quickly replied.

Yang Zeyan breathed a sigh of relief. As long as he was the one who left, at least he could be sure that Du Ruoxia was not in any danger.

"She won't go to the Song family's house. She probably has something to take care of. I'll go find her myself," Yang Zeyan comforted the old man. He knew that although Du Ruoxia had a decent relationship with Song Shifeng, she wouldn't go to the Song family's house without prior notice.

“But she has no relatives in Beijing, and she said she doesn’t care about the Yang family. Zeyan, she won’t…” The old lady snatched the phone away again.

Yang Zeyan's face darkened upon hearing the old lady's words, but he couldn't find the words to refute them. Du Ruoxia might indeed not want him!

"Grandma, don't worry, I'll bring her back to see you when I'm done with this!" Yang Zeyan quickly reassured the old lady and hung up the phone.

He looked at the interrogation room not far away, his frustration intensified. When Chen Jianping came over to offer him a cigarette, he didn't even glance at it before walking away.

Chen Jianping looked at him with a puzzled expression, wondering why he hadn't done anything to offend him.

Yang Zeyan's expression changed immediately when he entered the interrogation room again. Section Chief Zhao had been silent at first, but when he saw Yang Zeyan's dangerous eyes staring at him, he broke out in a cold sweat.

His intuition was quickly proven correct. Unlike the peaceful interrogation of the past two days, Yang Zeyan changed his interrogation method.

At first, Section Chief Zhao was dismissive, but as the job changed repeatedly, he began to feel exhausted.

Finally, he was so tired that he wanted to rest, and he insisted on doing so, but Yang Zeyan had disappeared, and there were only soldiers constantly changing shifts.

He requested to see Chen Jianping, but Chen Jianping seemed to be busy and didn't have time to ask him questions.

Section Chief Zhao was forced to endure this for a full day and night, and in the end, he broke down.

When he wanted to tell Yang Zeyan about his crimes, the soldier actually said that Yang Zeyan was too busy and told him to write it himself!

It was the first time Section Chief Zhao had learned that one day he had been tormented by Yang Zeyan to the point that he had to admit his mistakes.

As soon as the confession was signed, Chen Jianping appeared, looking astonished as he held the prepared documents.

"Weren't you unwilling to speak? Why did you suddenly change your mind?"

The soldier in charge was also puzzled and said, "They didn't do anything special, they just had different people change the environment for Section Chief Zhao."

"What have you all done?" Chen Jianping looked at the soldier with a puzzled expression.

Then the soldier explained Yang Zeyan's arrangements, such as first going to warm himself by the fire for three hours, then going into the ward for two hours, then going to be exposed to the sun for three hours, and then being exposed to strong light for several hours, and so on.

"Aren't these the things you usually train with?" Chen Jianping asked, puzzled.

The soldier nodded, also puzzled.

"If I had known it would be this easy, I wouldn't have bothered with all that effort!" Chen Jianping said with a smile.

However, he still went to see Section Chief Zhao. He was so exhausted that he fell asleep and didn't notice Chen Jianping coming in.

"He even fainted from exhaustion," the soldier said.

Chen Jianping glanced at Section Chief Zhao with disdain, "The pawns cultivated by the Zhao family aren't very good either!"

Thinking about how the Zhao family had been contacting the Chen family non-stop these past two days, Chen Jianping simply took the documents and left, without even asking where Yang Zeyan had gone.

Yang Zeyan gave the orders and then left, going directly to the guesthouse.

Yang Zeyan looked around the room but found nothing. He then picked up Du Ruoxia's luggage, hoping to find some clues.

After searching through the luggage and finding no notes, Yang Zeyan's heart sank for no apparent reason. He didn't know where Du Ruoxia had gone or why she had disappeared without a trace.

Du Ruoxia didn't leave a single word, and almost a day has passed. Where did she go?
