Chapter 36 A Sudden Idea to Go for a Walk in the Park

Chapter 36 A Sudden Idea to Go for a Walk in the Park

“However…” Du Ruoxia flipped through the bankbook, “You only earn a little over 100 yuan a month, so why is there more than 10,000 yuan in your bankbook?”

Even if Yang Zeyan is a regimental commander, it would be impossible for him to have saved up so much money in just a few years.

"Some of it was New Year's money given to me by my family, and some was money I earned from doing experiments in the past."

"Oh, by the way, the land deeds and house deeds for the two houses you lived in in Yuxi Village are also in there."

Du Ruoxia asked in surprise, "How did you get your hands on it?"

She scrolled down and, sure enough, found the land deed and house deed at the very bottom.

Du Ruoxia never expected that she would actually have a small house of her own in Yuxi Village. She had previously thought that she would rent a house first and then buy a house when commercial housing became available.

However, she is still very happy to have a homestead in the countryside now.

That way she can plan to build two more houses, since the land belongs to her anyway.

Du Ruoxia laughed as she thought about it.

In modern society, it's common to buy a house and a car and give a bride price when getting married. Now, Yang Zeyan is handing over his salary and giving a house deed, which seems quite fitting.

"I'm glad you like it."

Yang Zeyan smiled too, seeing that Du Ruoxia liked it made all the effort worthwhile.

He pulled out several national tickets. "Let's go, let's go to the department store and buy some things. That will be our little home from now on..."

But Yang Zeyan immediately thought of Du Yinlong. Du Yinlong was still at Du Ruoxia's house, which only had two rooms. It would be somewhat inconvenient for Yang Zeyan to move in.

"Although we can't live together now, we'll have to live together sooner or later. I'll have someone build two more houses next door, and we'll settle down there. Jade Market has a wide variety of things."

Yang Zeyan knew that the marriage registration was rushed and he hadn't even had time to buy the three turns and one ring. He also needed to buy some jewelry for Du Ruoxia so that she wouldn't feel wronged by marrying him.

He looked up at the clear sky and suddenly had an idea: "How about we buy the three turns and one sound later? I want to go for a walk in the park with you."

"Go to the park?" Du Ruoxia was calculating how much she could buy with the tickets when Yang Zeyan suddenly brought up the park.

“Yeah, I’ve noticed other couples go to the park to date. We’re already married, we can’t just not take you to the park, can we?” Yang Zeyan waved his hand. “Come on, let’s go boating in the park!”

The main gate of Yushi Park is very impressive, with festive wildflowers adorning the towering stone gate tower and large gilded characters shining brightly within.

People came and went, mostly shy young couples on dates, and a group of students in sports uniforms ran in.

"It's not the weekend, why are there so many people?" Du Ruoxia wondered.

Yang Zeyan had just returned with the tickets and replied with a smile, "A panda came to the zoo today, and everyone came to see it."

"A panda?!" Du Ruoxia's eyes lit up. Following the direction Yang Zeyan pointed, she saw a giant panda made of wildflowers on the right side of the gate, with a poster on its head that read, "Welcome to Yushi, the giant panda Mingming."

The giant pandas were very popular, and there were quite a few people gathered around them. It's no wonder she didn't notice them immediately; Du Ruoxia really liked pandas and thought they looked lazy and happy.

Yang Zeyan could tell she was very interested, and he was glad that he had just bought tickets to the zoo. In order to let Du Ruoxia see the pandas as soon as possible, he showed his military officer ID and led her in through the special passage.

However, he rarely did anything to flaunt his "privilege." When passing by the queuing crowd, he would simply walk forward with his head down, and once inside, he would loosen his collar, looking as if he couldn't breathe.

Du Ruoxia pursed her lips and looked at the man whose ears were flushed red. She felt inexplicably sweet in her heart and took the initiative to pull his sleeve. "Let's go, we still have to queue at the panda enclosure!"

Despite being called a panda enclosure, it's really just a large enclosed open space. The few trees in the center are all bare, with only a few clumps of bamboo along the edge still showing green. In the middle of the space stands a wooden frame, where a chubby panda is fast asleep.

"panda!"

"It's Mingming!!"

"Clearly, clearly!!"

No matter how much the adults and children around shouted, Mingming, lying on the wooden frame, just kept his head down and slept soundly, without even changing his position.

Although the sleeping black and white panda was cute, it wasn't very appealing to people. People came and went, but Du Ruoxia always stood outside the fence, smiling as she watched the sleeping panda, while Yang Zeyan stood beside her watching her.

Suddenly, the black and white dumpling's thick ears twitched, and it abruptly raised its head to look in the direction of the arena. The crowd immediately cheered, "Mingming, is Mingming getting up?"

"Mingming's awake!"

"Mingming runs so fast!"

The people who had just left squeezed back in. Du Ruoxia felt a strong force coming at her back and was almost pushed against the railing. Fortunately, she held on to the railing the whole time, and Yang Zeyan next to her caught her in time, which helped her stand up.

But those around them weren't so lucky. People behind them were desperately pushing forward, trying to catch a glimpse of the moving panda. The crowd surged forward like waves, squeezing those in front so much that they couldn't stand. Cries and curses erupted everywhere. A child was stepped on and burst into tears.

Du Ruoxia had participated in the emergency rescue of a stampede in her previous life. Seeing that the situation was not right, she anxiously looked outside. She even felt that she could hear the iron railings behind her creaking.

Fortunately, the zoo staff acted quickly, using a loudspeaker to disperse the crowd, and the situation was eased after a while.

"Don't stop, keep walking and looking around, give the comrades behind us a chance to see Mingming!"

To prevent overcrowding from happening again, staff climbed onto the railings and shouted loudly through a megaphone. Although Du Ruoxia was disappointed, she cooperated and followed Yang Zeyan out.

Just then, someone screamed. She turned her head and saw the panda Mingming running out from the inner area. He climbed the wooden frame as fast as the wind, took advantage of the momentum, pounced forward, rolled, and sat in the tire placed at the entrance of the wooden slide.

Amid cheers from everyone, the giant panda raised its head and cried out twice, then leaped and slid down in a flash.

"Wow!!!"

The gasps of amazement made Mingming the panda even more excited. He came down from the slide and grabbed a plastic ball next to him. He patted the ball left and right with his huge paws, like a football superstar running on the field, chasing the colorful ball all over the place.

Chasing balls, swinging, playing in the water, climbing trees—Panda Mingming frolicked around the field in all sorts of ways, bringing endless laughter to the people.

When Du Ruoxia walked out of the venue, she still felt incredulous. She glanced at the man who had been protecting her the whole time and thought to herself that today was truly a good day.

Du Ruoxia was satisfied after seeing the pandas, but the Yushi Zoo also had rare and exotic wild animals such as ostriches, lions, and tigers, which she naturally wanted to see as well.

Du Ruoxia was intrigued, but Yang Zeyan pulled her aside and whispered, "Do you want to take a picture with the panda?"

"A group photo?" Du Ruoxia's eyes widened, and she subconsciously rubbed her ears, wondering if she had misheard because she was too excited to see the national treasure.
