Chapter 15 The New Female Doctor at the Hospital
Large drops of sweat dripped down Du Ruoxia's forehead, and her vision was already blurred, but no one noticed and came to wipe it for her.
Her beautiful brows furrowed tightly. "Wipe my sweat."
The nurse's eyes widened when she heard her voice. She was puzzled. Wasn't this a patient's family member?
How did I become a doctor?
But at that moment she didn't dare ask, she was terrified.
He listened to Du Ruoxia and helped her wipe her sweat.
Du Ruoxia felt that she had been pressing for a long time. She never gave up, even when she was so tired that she could hardly lift her hands. She was racing against time to snatch people from the clutches of death.
Time seemed to have passed for a long time, yet it also seemed to have only been a short while.
She only breathed a sigh of relief when the patient finally had a heartbeat, and almost fell off the bed.
Fortunately, the nurse Xiao Aying caught her and helped her down slowly.
"Doctor...comrade, are you alright?" Xiao Aying asked in a rambling voice.
Du Ruoxia nodded, her brow still furrowed, and got off the hospital bed to quickly examine the patient's wound.
A cow's hoof definitely contains a lot of bacteria and debris. You also need to check the size and depth of the wound, the amount of bleeding, and whether there are any foreign objects left behind or abdominal organs spilling out.
There are no advanced medical machines like those of later generations here; we can only rely on our eyes.
The medical environment was poor, the medicines were incomplete, everything was lacking, but fortunately the medical staff around her were very cooperative, and she was highly skilled. Although she was a cardiothoracic surgeon, the principle of abdominal debridement was the same. She was able to handle abdominal wounds with ease, all thanks to her good knowledge of anatomy.
It took more than two hours to finally get everything sorted out.
It's like she performed a minor surgery on the spot.
After she finished, she realized she was exhausted and swayed, but Xiao Aying helped her up.
She gave Xiao Aying a grateful look.
Little did they know that her surgery would leave everyone speechless.
"Great, I never thought I, Lao Hu, would witness such a wonderful surgery. Who is this doctor?" Hu Guangyi rushed over after receiving the hospital's notification. By the time he arrived, the surgery was already halfway through.
He observed for a moment and saw that the doctor handled the situation very well, so he didn't go up to interrupt her, but just stood aside to help.
Then I wondered if I could have handled it just as well if I were in that situation.
He shook his head. No, even he couldn't do it so quickly and with such precision, as if every application was just right.
He was amazed by her beauty.
So he took the lead and clapped.
Du Ruoxia blinked; she wasn't a doctor yet.
How should I answer this question?
Just then, Gao Yuyang, having just finished emergency surgery, came out of the operating room when he heard the nurses discussing that a very capable young woman had come to the hospital and was performing surgery. He immediately thought of Du Ruoxia and rushed over to see.
Just as Du Ruoxia finished her surgery, Dean Hu asked her about her background, and Gao Yuyang whispered a few words in Hu Guangyi's ear.
Hu Guangyi then learned that Du Ruoxia had also helped a child with a broken bone. His eyes lit up immediately. It seemed that their county hospital was going to make a name for itself!
First, a doctor named Gao Yuyang came from the Capital Hospital, and now he's run into a genius female doctor. Hu Guangyi has to do everything he can to keep her here.
"Comrade Du, Dr. Gao said you were an educated youth sent to the countryside? I think it's a waste of your talent to be in the countryside. Although our county hospital doesn't have the best equipment, it's full of talented people. If you could stay and become a doctor, you would definitely achieve great things!"
Du Ruoxia hesitated. She really wanted to escape the life of farm work. Agriculture was not her forte. Earning work points every day was no different from being a beast of burden in the hospital.
Hu Guangyi continued, "Comrade Du, which village are you working in? Don't worry about the certificate, I'll take care of it for you right away."
“Yuxi Village,” Du Ruoxia blurted out, but her brows didn’t furrow, because she wasn’t entirely sure yet.
However, Hu Guangyi felt that Du Ruoxia had implicitly agreed to stay, so he cleared his throat and went out to tell the medical staff and family members:
"This is a doctor we just brought back to our hospital. You've all seen her medical skills, right? If you need anything in the future, remember to learn from her. Don't let her young age fool you; her medical skills are amazing."
Dean Hu gave a thumbs up.
Everyone nodded vigorously. They had all seen it, and they would have done it even without the dean saying so.
Jiang Yonghuai, who was the first to come into contact with the patient, admired Du Ruoxia more than anyone else at that moment.
God knows that the patient wasn't breathing when he was brought in.
If it were him, he simply couldn't do it; he'd be terrified.
Despite wearing a white coat, his medical knowledge is actually quite limited.
If it weren't for so many of his predecessors having accidents one after another, he would never have had the chance to become a doctor.
Du Ruoxia then explained to everyone the precautions that patients should take.
"Pay attention to the patient's bowel movements. If urine and feces cannot be expelled in time, it may cause urinary retention or constipation."
"To prevent colds and fevers, I'm worried that colds can cause coughs, and fevers can cause wounds to become inflamed, affecting wound healing."
"Also, keep the wound clean and remind the family not to use any cleaning products to wipe it. Make sure the head nurse makes sure they understand this."
"Finally, the patient cannot lie flat because after the surgery, the anesthesia will reduce the patient's pain sensitivity. The side-lying position is adopted to reduce some vibration and traction on the wound."
"After 24 hours, the patient should start getting up and moving around to enhance gastrointestinal motility, expel gas as soon as possible, and prevent intestinal adhesions and thrombosis. Also, they should not overeat..."
She understood the current situation and explained it as clearly as possible.
She was the one who saved this patient, and she didn't want any accidents to happen after the surgery due to some minor issues.
"Have you all remembered it clearly?" Hu Guangyi asked the medical staff following behind him, full of admiration.
"Don't worry, Dean, we've remembered everything clearly."
"Okay, everyone go ahead and get busy. Tell the family what Dr. Du said and keep a close eye on the patient's condition."
After Hu Guangyi finished speaking, he led Gao Yuyang and Du Ruoxia back to his office.
He first praised Du Ruoxia and wanted to ask her about her patient, but then he thought that she had already explained things clearly enough, so he stopped talking nonsense.
Instead, he repeatedly urged, "Comrade Du Ruoxia, remember to take the certification exam in a couple of days. Our hospital is ready for you. If it's convenient for you, we can process your onboarding immediately. I'll write the application now and give it to your team leader. However, before you get the certificate, you'll need to work with everyone to handle some simple issues. Once you have the certificate, you can start working in the operating room."
No one doubted whether she had a license or not.
What a joke! They're so skilled, their medical expertise must be top-notch. You're questioning whether they have a license? That's just plain stupid.
