Chapter 95 No Fooling Around, No Die

Chapter 95 No Fooling Around, No Die

"Senior year, we must insist that Gao Da's wife has nothing to do with us; she fell into the water on her own!" another voice said, somewhat agitated.

Du Ruoxia's eyes narrowed upon hearing this, confirming her suspicions.

"Stop arguing, all of you. Let me think about this." A deep, honest male voice rang out, and Du Ruoxia guessed that this was Senior High School.

She underestimated these people's audacity; they were already responsible for one death, yet they were still so bold as to harm another!

“Come here, we’ll do it like this,” the man said again.

Du Ruoxia couldn't hear what they said next; she guessed they were whispering together.

After a short while, they resumed their normal conversation.

"Go take a shower right now, you haven't showered in days, you stink!" a man's voice called out.

"Hurry up, this place is too conspicuous. We'll leave after we take a shower!" That deep, resonant voice rang out again.

Du Ruoxia's eyes narrowed instantly, and she quietly opened the door and looked out.

Wang Hu has already come downstairs; he's probably talking to the receptionist.

Du Ruoxia did the math and figured that, based on what the others were saying, they would most likely take a quick shower and leave.

A few minutes later, Wang Hu came upstairs and saw Du Ruoxia standing at the door. He walked over with a serious expression.

Du Ruoxia gestured to explain the situation inside, and Wang Hu pointed down.

Du Ruoxia's lips moved slightly. Had someone arrived?

Wang Hu nodded, told Du Ruoxia to close the door, and then went into another room.

Less than five minutes later, there was a knock on the door next door.

"Hello, routine check!"

The people inside exchanged wary glances upon hearing the knock, and sent one of them to check the situation at the door.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the young receptionist outside the door.

They couldn't see the person hiding to the side, nor did they realize the seriousness of the situation. They glanced at the young woman at the front desk with displeasure.

"What is it?" the man asked cautiously.

The man in ordinary clothes standing behind the receptionist revealed his face, and the receptionist began to explain to him, "It's a routine check, please cooperate."

"Comrade, you see, we're just here in the provincial capital looking for work and staying for the night." It was that high school senior's voice again.

"Okay, open the door and let him in to take a look." The receptionist looked impatient when she saw him shirtless.

The senior high school student opened the door and moved aside, and the receptionist stepped back.

Several people rushed in in an instant, and the senior high school students were captured before they could even react.

"Hey, what are you doing!"

The people inside were shouting, and Du Ruoxia knew that it had succeeded!

Soon, the upstairs area became lively as people discussed what was happening, and doors were opened to let everyone see what was going on.

"What are you looking at? You want to go to the institute for tea too?!" a man's stern voice rang out.

"Thank you, Brother Long!"

It was the receptionist's voice, and then there was a knock on Du Ruoxia's door.

As soon as Du Ruoxia opened the door, she saw Brother Long, whom the receptionist had mentioned, and Wang Hu also came out.

The man called Brother Long came in and explained the situation to Du Ruoxia, saying that they needed to cooperate in making a statement. Du Ruoxia said it was inconvenient to go to the police station, so Brother Long made the statement at the guesthouse.

Finally, regarding witness testimony, Du Ruoxia stated that everyone in Gaojiazhuang could testify, and Brother Long left after giving his statement.

Only then did Wang Hu speak up, "Comrade Du, will the people of Gaojiazhuang testify for Tiezhu's mother, Xu E, and her family?"

Du Ruoxia remained silent. Whether or not they would testify depended on their conscience. The child's words could not be used as evidence, but at least Grandpa Gao Songbai would speak up.

"I thought they wouldn't be able to handle it and would ask us for help, but I didn't expect them to be able to get out," Wang Hu said, feeling a bit emotional.

Du Ruoxia's composure was still in his mind; he thought they would go back to the greenhouse and turn themselves in.

"They came out when the water level wasn't high that day. As for how they got there, it should be related to Aunt Gao. They said that Aunt Gao can build boats," Du Ruoxia said calmly.

Based on the results of previous and subsequent deductions, this is the most likely way to cross the river, as Aunt Gao's family still has a boat.

"Aunt Gao is most likely in grave danger. Let's tell them to be careful," Du Ruoxia suggested to Wang Hu.

Wang Hu raised his eyes, his gaze filled with disbelief.

Du Ruoxia nodded helplessly, "The senior high school student just said she fell into the river."

When Wang Hu thought of that turbulent river, he couldn't help but feel sorry for Aunt Gao for a second. As the saying goes, "If you don't do stupid things, you won't die."

"Let's go check on the rescue arrangements. They should be ready by now, after these past few hours." Du Ruoxia decided not to get involved in Aunt Gao's affairs anymore.

When they came out, Song Shifeng's assistant went to report the situation to the leader, and the equipment should have been arranged by then.

They left their belongings at the guesthouse and returned to the hospital entrance to wait for Song Shifeng's assistant, but after two hours they still hadn't seen him.

"It doesn't make sense that it's been this long." Wang Hu frowned.

Du Ruoxia remained silent. This had indeed taken too long; matters of life and death should have been addressed with a swift response.

"I'll go in and ask the dean. You find somewhere to eat first," Wang Hu said, pointing to the restaurant next door.

When Du Ruoxia thought of the Zhao family's child at the hospital, she shook her head, "No need, someone has already taken care of that child."

The two entered the hospital, but this time they did not encounter the hospital director.

Du Ruoxia wasn't in a hurry; she went directly to Gao Songbai's ward.

Gao Songbai woke up, and his eyes instantly reddened when he saw her come in. He struggled to get down.

"Gao Songbai, what are you doing? You can't move now!" As soon as Du Ruoxia spoke, Wang Hu ran over and pinned her down.

"Comrade Du, I am so grateful to you! You saved my life!" Gao Songbai said, tears welling up in his eyes.

A tall, thin boy was wiping away tears, looking as if he had been bullied by Du Ruoxia.

Du Ruoxia sighed and rubbed her forehead. "If you keep crying, they'll kick me out."

Gao Songbai then stopped crying and looked at Du Ruoxia, wanting to ask but not daring to.

"Do you want to ask about your leg or your grandfather?" Du Ruoxia asked calmly.

Gao Songbai nodded repeatedly, and Du Ruoxia smiled helplessly and said, "Your grandfather is fine, but your leg is a bit of a problem."

Gao Songbai's face fell sharply, looking pained and helpless.

"Why are you acting like your wife has died? Your leg is still there, it just can't be the same as before," Du Ruoxia said helplessly once again.

Gao Songbai stared at Du Ruoxia in astonishment, fearing he was hallucinating. He subconsciously pulled up the bed sheet.

What came into view were his feet. He tried to move them, but there was no response.

"Can I still walk?" Gao Songbai asked cautiously.

"Absolutely! Look who saved you!" Du Ruoxia affirmed.

"I can still walk! I can still walk!" Gao Songbai burst into tears instantly, his tears of joy immediately attracting the attention of the nurses.

"Thank you, Comrade Du, thank you!" Gao Songbai cried, clutching his head.

Du Ruoxia understood his feelings. He was probably already heartbroken at that time, so it was a miracle that he survived. He felt even more blessed that his leg was saved.

"Your grandfather will come to take care of you later. When Dr. Sun comes to give you acupuncture, you must endure the pain, as it will affect your recovery." Du Ruoxia earnestly instructed Gao Songbai, who nodded repeatedly.
