Chapter 15: Pear Blossom Courtyard and the Melting Moon
The bells in the Golden Palace rang, and the calm surface of the lotus pond began to ripple slightly with the melodious sound of the bells.
The hour of midnight has arrived, and the first moment of the new year has quietly arrived.
Yueli rested her hands on his knees, looking up at him with her fair little face: "Didn't Your Majesty promise to stay with me to celebrate the New Year's Eve? Why did you leave me alone?"
"Fortunately, I asked Lian Qiao to keep an eye out, otherwise I wouldn't be able to find Your Majesty."
As she spoke, she snorted coquettishly, "Tonight, all the palace servants have gone to join in the fun outside the Golden Throne Hall. When I came here just now, I didn't see anyone along the way. It was so dark and scary."
As if to prove how scary it really was, she pressed her whole body against him with justification.
He Yanchen looked indifferent and pinched her jaw.
"Spying on the Emperor's whereabouts, and still speaking so confidently."
Yueli's eyelashes trembled, her watery eyes full of innocence: "How can this be blamed on me?"
"It was clearly Your Majesty who broke the appointment first. If Your Majesty had been waiting for me, I would not have done this."
"Or is it my fault?"
Yueli turned her head away: "Anyway, it's not my fault."
"Then do you think I did something wrong today?" He Yanchen suddenly asked a question that seemed to be true but was not.
Yue Li thought that he was talking about Censor Liu, after all, so many people in the hall had just pleaded for Censor Liu.
She shook her head: "Your Majesty is the emperor, how could he be wrong?"
"Censor Liu has disobeyed Your Majesty, and it is only natural for Your Majesty to punish him."
He Yanchen looked at her seriously for the first time tonight: "Aren't you afraid that I will treat you like this in the future?"
Yue Li shook her head again: "I have never disobeyed Your Majesty, so why does Your Majesty treat me like this?"
She held the man's wrist and rubbed her cheek against his warm palm: "Your Majesty is spending the holiday with me for the first time. You must not be unhappy in front of me, otherwise I will think that Your Majesty doesn't like me anymore."
He Yanchen wanted to tease her and deliberately said, "What will you do if I don't like you anymore?"
Yue Li's rosy little face suddenly fell, and she said aggrievedly, "Your Majesty is the emperor, and there are three thousand beauties in the six palaces. Of course, you can like whoever you want, but I only have one husband, Your Majesty. Your Majesty cannot help but like me."
"Why?" He Yanchen smiled.
Yueli said angrily, "I can't stand that kind of life."
She couldn't stand the fact that He Yanchen didn't favor her, that she lived alone in a dilapidated palace, that the palace maids no longer flattered her, and that no delicious food or fun things were sent to her palace.
Whenever she thought about it, Yue Li couldn't control the malice in her heart.
"If Your Majesty likes others, then just make them disappear. That way, Your Majesty will be mine alone."
Her words were too bold, but her face was full of anger and seriousness, giving off a contradictory feeling of being both pure and bad.
It's really audacious to say these things in front of him.
Yueli had a pair of beautiful almond-shaped eyes, and her sparkling eyes looked at him pitifully, as if he was the only one in them.
He Yanchen's breathing became a little heavier. He raised his hand and stroked the corners of her eyes. The way her heart and eyes were filled with him gave him an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
This is also the first time that someone has relied on me like this.
The coldness in his eyes dissipated a lot. He reached out and brought the woman into his arms. His voice returned to its usual casual tone:
"You're the only one who's difficult."
*
Linde Hall.
When Yueli came out of the shower, she saw that the man had already dressed in pajamas and was sitting on the couch with a book waiting for her.
She was only wearing a thin nightgown with tassels hanging from her waist and a string of pearls across her chest, outlining her curvy figure.
"Your Majesty~" Yueli walked to his side in a playful manner and hooked her fingers with his. "Your Majesty, are you going to keep watch like this?"
She glanced at the books on the desk and found them boring.
"So what do you want?"
Yueli turned in front of him and said, "I have learned a new dance. Your Majesty, would you like to see it?"
He Yanchen threw away the book in his hand and leaned lazily on the soft pillow, but his burning gaze made Yue Li feel itchy.
Yue Li slowly took two steps back. After she came out of the bath, she only used a pearl hairpin to tie up her black hair. When she took off the hairpin, her soft hair immediately fell down.
In the distant Golden Throne Hall, the banquet will last all night, and the sound of ritual music can be heard faintly.
Yueli danced gracefully to the music, her slender waist was like a graceful weeping willow, and the tassels on her waist collided with each other, making a crisp sound.
She turned past the man, her long black hair drawing a smooth arc in the air, and the faint scent of pear blossoms lingered at the man's nose.
He Yanchen's face remained calm, but his fingers were rubbing the ring faster and faster.
When the woman turned to him again, he suddenly raised his hand and hooked the jade belt around her waist. With a light pull, she fell into his arms like a little butterfly.
"Your Majesty..." Yueli panted softly, leaning gently on his chest, "I haven't finished dancing yet."
"Close your eyes."
Yueli blinked, then closed her eyes obediently.
The familiar ambergris enveloped her, and a moist and lingering kiss fell on her lips. Their noses touched from time to time, and their rapid breathing intertwined.
"Hmm..." Yueli wrinkled the collar of his shirt, and her neck felt a little sore, so she simply knelt on both sides of him, straightened her body, and ended up on top of him.
He Yanchen let go of her. At this angle, he still had to tilt his head slightly to look at her.
“Are there any small print?”
Yueli blinked, not knowing why he suddenly asked that.
"Your Majesty, you're asking even though you already know the answer." She bit her lip. "Who would give a concubine a nickname?"
She has been living in Chunfeng Pavilion since she was five years old. How could she have such a nickname, which is only used among close family members?
He Yanchen smiled silently.
He held the woman in his arms, hugged her from behind, and picked up the paper and pen on the desk.
"The pear blossoms in the courtyard are bathed in the moonlight, and the catkins in the pond are gently blown by the wind."
Yueli looked at him delightedly and asked, "Your Majesty, how did you know that my name came from here?"
"Guess."
He waited for the handwriting on the paper to dry before picking it up and handing it to her: "Take it back and hang it up."
Yueli took it and looked at the poem on it, a hint of sadness flashed across her eyes.
The person who gave her this name had abandoned her long ago, but he didn't expect He Yanchen to know.
"I will keep it well."
"I'll put it away later." Seeing that she wanted to get up and put the thing away, He Yanchen put his arms around her waist, pressed her under him, and kissed her again.
"Your Majesty..." Yueli whispered, "You still have to keep watch..."
"Then you can't fall asleep." He smiled and pulled off the woman's belt, and her white body appeared before his eyes.
......
When her love reached its peak, Yueli's voice became hoarse from crying, and crystal tears hung on her eyelashes, trembling, as she unconsciously resisted him.
The man lowered his head and kissed the tip of her nose: "What a little darling..."
"Can I give you a nickname?"
Yueli couldn't hear what he was saying at all. She just kept whining and begging for mercy. She felt like she was going to die.
He Yanchen had a faint smile in his eyes and bit her earlobe lightly:
"Jiaojiao..."
