Chapter 295 Spare the life from the axe, lest you commit a terrible sin (2/2)

Wang Hu snorted coldly: "At crucial moments, what can you accomplish if you cower in fear? Leave these two leaders to me and let me set an example for you."

As he spoke, he snatched a stone axe from a villager's hand, strode forward, and raised it to chop down on Chief Qu's head.

A moment of silence fell over the crowd. The villagers wore a variety of expressions: some were expectant, some were excited, some were nervous and afraid, and some were worried.

They sensed that once this axe was swung, things would develop in an irreversible direction, and whether they succeeded or failed, there would be no way back.

Supervisor Qu closed his eyes and awaited his death.

He simply said slowly, "If I die, none of you will live either."

"It's ridiculous. We've been pushed to this point, and nobody has a way out." Wang Hu felt like a hero at this moment, doing something that the people wanted.

As more and more people join his ranks, he will be able to oppose the imperial court, and perhaps even form a powerful force to overthrow the current dynasty and become emperor.

He felt excited at the thought of being able to command the wind and rain and having the world at his fingertips.

"Spare the life before the axe falls; do not commit a heinous crime."

Qiao Lian'er, sitting on the carriage seat, shouted.

The girl's voice was like a clear stream, piercing through the air, yet carrying a sharp edge, reaching everyone's ears.

Wang Hu's stone axe had already cleaved halfway down, narrowly landing above Qu Jiantou's head.

Looking back, a boy was hurrying towards them in a horse-drawn carriage, with a thin, petite girl beside him.

She wasn't sitting, but standing on the front of the car, unsteady as a clock, her dark eyes clear and cold, exuding an aura of overwhelming power.

Its small body hides enormous energy.

Everyone who witnessed this scene was deeply moved.

Wang Hu was stunned for a moment before realizing that he had been intimidated by the girl.

It's ridiculous that such a grown man could be intimidated like that; it's unbelievable.

A wave of frustration washed over me, mixed with a feeling of exasperation.

"Damn it, a guy as tall as a little mouse dares to order me around."

Wang Hu cursed, "You won't let me kill you, huh? I'll kill you anyway."

The axe was raised once more.

The speeding carriage rushed into the crowd, clearing a wide path. The villagers, who had never seen anything like it, quickly retreated.

Just as the axe was about to strike the head of the prison warden, Da Yong drew his sword from beside the front rack and struck out in mid-air.

This sword is finely crafted and has just been sharpened. It's the very same good sword we picked up after defeating those bandits, even better than the ones issued to the camp.

It must have been made by a private craftsman at a high price.

Now, these swords can be used openly and legitimately, and kept at home.

The sword whistled through the air, striking the stone axe that was cutting into the top of the head of the prison warden at the critical moment.

With a clang, the sword and stone axe fell to the ground some distance away. The axe handle broke off, a result of the force of the impact, leaving onlookers speechless.

The head eunuch stood frozen in place as the stone axe slashed his head, and a large trickle of blood gushed down his forehead.
