Chapter 318 A Letter of Divorce Thrown in Front of Me (1/2)

Song Laosan was settled in the barracks. At dinner, he was woken up by a basin of cold water.

The soldier rudely placed two bowls in front of him and walked away.

One bowl contained spoiled steamed buns, while the other contained rotten and off-tasting millet porridge.

He was exhausted and hungry. When he picked up the steamed bun, he felt a sharp, stinging pain all over his body. He looked down at the water that had been splashed on him and realized it was salty water with chili peppers.

The steamed bun fell, and Song Laosan rolled on the ground, scratching himself in agony.

"It hurts, it hurts so much, I'm going to die, help!"

Having been stabbed in the chest and beaten until his whole body was covered in blood, scratching like this tore open the flesh everywhere, creating a bloody, blurry mess that was even more unbearable.

But no one paid him any attention. Some soldiers stood at the door, watching the spectacle with schadenfreude, showing not a shred of sympathy.

Song Laosan simply banged his head against the wall, trying to pass out and reduce the pain.

Two soldiers immediately rushed in, grabbed him, and prevented him from hitting the wall.

"Commander Song, this is just the beginning. You'd better be prepared for the hardships to come."

"Hmph, you didn't like me back then, so you kicked me. My stomach ailment flares up every time it's cloudy, all thanks to you."

A soldier went into the house and kicked Song Laosan hard in the stomach.

Song Laosan screamed, his eyelids rolled back, and he almost fainted again.

Once he had recovered a little, he gritted his teeth and cursed, his jaw trembling: "You bastards, no matter what, I am still General Guan's son-in-law. One day I will rise up and kill you all."

"Come on, haven't you noticed that everyone is treating you like this with General Guan's tacit approval? Since General Guan has gone this far, it shows that he will not give you any more chances."

"Hey, Chief Song, what sins have you committed? I used to wish you were dead, and at most I could only hope that General Guan would give you a hard time. I never expected this to be so far beyond my expectations. Hahaha, God has finally opened his eyes for once."

"Ha ha ha ha--"

The soldiers burst into laughter.

They stopped laughing and automatically made way for each other.

A figure arrived at the entrance of the soldiers' camp.

The woman's face was cold as she looked at the struggling man inside and gestured for the soldiers to leave.

Once they were all alone, Guan Yuqin slowly spoke: "Song Yuanyi, how does this feel?"

Upon hearing Guan Yuqin's voice, Song Laosan's eyes lit up, and he quickly crawled towards her.

"Madam, Madam, please listen to me. I didn't mean to lie to you. The moment I saw you, I knew you were the one I wanted to protect for the rest of my life. So I'll follow you even if it means certain death. I don't love Qiao Yunni. What else can you ask of me? Forced love is never sweet."

"How happy we've been these past ten years! Every little thing has been so heartwarming. Have you forgotten, my lady?"

“It was my mistake to hide the fact that I had been married, but the feelings between us are real. Our love is etched into our bones and will never fade in this lifetime. My wife, do you really not want me anymore? You are tearing my heart out.”

Song Laosan knelt in front of Guan Yuqin, repeatedly banging his forehead against the ground.

"Madam, Madam, I was wrong, I was really wrong. Please forgive me this time. Let's live a good life from now on, let's leave this place and never see that family again."

Song Laosan kept pleading and pouring out his heart, his forehead covered in blood, a patch of bruises and swelling.
