Chapter 34 Picking Up as Much as You Want (1/2)

Song Daming picked up a stick and started hitting the termite mushrooms wildly, cursing, "You scoundrels, you almost killed the three of us!"

The termite mushrooms were smashed to pieces by his hard blows with the stick, and fragments flew up.

Qiao Lian'er and Qiao Xiaomeng felt their hearts clench.

"Alright, what's the point of venting your anger on this stuff that even dogs wouldn't eat? You didn't earn any money, you got beaten up, and you're hungry. Go home and eat," Old Song cursed.

“We were tricked and beaten because of the Qiao family. We should remember this and make them pay back double.”

Then the father and his two sons left.

Once they were out of sight, Qiao Lian'er and Qiao Xiaomeng emerged from the bushes on one side.

Some of the mushrooms were ruined, but that's okay, they were meant to be chopped into small pieces anyway when juicing.

As long as it's not completely broken into pieces, pick it up and put it in your basket.

"Sister Lian'er, so this is what you meant by picking mushrooms! We got them without lifting a finger!" Qiao Xiaomeng beamed with joy, picking mushrooms quickly without missing a single one.

"Exactly, would I let you come for nothing?"

Qiao Lian'er put the good ones in one basket and the not-so-good ones in another.

The Song family carried large baskets, and when they still had several kilograms left to carry, they pulled up some thatch to make ropes, tied them together, and carried them by hand. They also covered them with rags, so no one could tell that they were carrying baskets.

Then, the two siblings went home.

The sun had completely sunk behind the hillside, and night would soon fall, so the two quickened their pace.

Halfway there, they saw Dayong and Dacheng approaching.

Seeing that the two were at peace, Dayong and Dacheng breathed a sigh of relief.

“The family has already set out the meal, but you still haven’t gone back. Grandma sent us out to look for you,” Da Yong said.

Da Cheng: "What are you doing in town so late? What are you carrying in your baskets?"

Qiao Xiaomeng put down the basket, lifted the tattered cloth, and revealed the termite mushrooms inside.

“Mine is too,” Qiao Lian’er said.

Both of them were surprised to see the white contents in the basket.

"These are for your trip to town—"

Qiao Dayong couldn't bring himself to say the word "find." How could he find mushrooms in town?

"Brother, these termite mushrooms were given to us by the Song family," Qiao Lian'er said mysteriously.

Da Yong and Da Cheng: Huh?

Then Qiao Xiaomeng recounted the whole story in detail.

Da Yong and Da Chengdu gave Qiao Lian'er a thumbs up.

You've gotten such a great deal for free, Sister Lian'er!

These two baskets contain at least fifty pounds of termite mushrooms. Although the Song family was driven back today and went to other mountains, they were quite lucky and managed to collect so many in just half an afternoon.

However, they did not expect that the mushrooms the Han family bought from the Qiao family were dried out. If they tried to sell them like that, it would be impossible. Not only would they not be able to sell them, but they would also be beaten.

“No wonder we ran into the three members of the Song family’s eldest branch earlier, all of them with blood on their heads,” Da Cheng said.

They thought they were caught stealing chickens and dogs and had gotten beaten up.

Da Cheng and Dayong, each carrying a basket on their backs, strode quickly and soon arrived at the village.

The food had been on the table for a while, and it was getting cold, but no one had touched it.
