Du Qinglan's hands trembled, and even her heart trembled. It must have been an oversight; the eldest prince must have forgotten.
She had been with him for several years; he couldn't possibly ignore her life or death. If he could remember, he would make arrangements for her future.
In her memory, the eldest prince was a meticulous person who rarely missed any details.
Du Qinglan sat down, clutching her chest. Her face was deathly pale, and she felt as if she were surrounded by an ice cave.
She simply couldn't convince herself, and she didn't know how to convince herself that the eldest prince cared about her, and didn't just treat her as a tool.
Du Qinglan gripped the handkerchief tightly again. No matter what, she had to make the plan go smoothly and ahead of schedule, to clear her family's name and protect herself.
Yes, achieving these two goals is enough; she shouldn't have asked for too much in the first place.
A few days later, the puzzle was finally completed.
Du Qinglan sat at the table, her slender body motionless as she faced the complete document.
She wasn't as happy as she had imagined, nor did she feel the relief of about to accomplish something big.
"Du Qinglan, it's almost done. The Du family will be exonerated, and you will regain your freedom."
"You should be very happy."
"Don't you have the heart to do anything to the Qiao family? Do you really like that Qiao Dameng?"
Du Qinglan muttered to herself again, half-crying and half-laughing, her appearance somewhat deranged.
Finally, she finished stacking the puzzle pieces one by one, went out the door, entered a printing shop, and stuffed two large silver ingots into the owner's hand. The owner immediately beamed with smiles and bowed and scraped.
After waiting for a while, Du Qinglan left the printing shop with two letters in her pocket.
"Brother Da Meng, I want to go to the camp to watch you train the troops."
After dinner, on the way to the alley, Du Qinglan said to Da Meng.
"I train all day long and rarely have time to rest, so I'm afraid I won't have time to spend with you," Qiao Dameng said, somewhat embarrassed.
"I won't disturb you. I just want to see how valiant you are when you train your troops, because you are my reliance in this life and my pride."
Upon hearing this, Da Meng felt a surge of excitement. To be able to become the support and pride of one's beloved was such an extraordinary thing.
"Okay, I'll pick you up first thing tomorrow morning. If you're tired, you can rest in the central camp."
The next day, Qiao Dameng took Du Qinglan to the military camp.
Everyone knew that General Qiao was getting married, but seeing how beautiful his bride-to-be was, the soldiers couldn't help but praise her.
"General, you are so lucky to have married such a beautiful woman."
"After you get married, I'm afraid the general won't have the same amount of energy to train us."
"You chatterboxes, line up!" Da Menglong said with a smirk, but secretly he was quite pleased with himself.
Du Qinglan watched Qiao Dameng train from the side, praising him as she did so, which made Qiao Dameng's self-esteem swell up, and he trained even harder.
Du Qinglan wasn't really interested in any of this. She patiently acted out the scene for a while, then pressed her temples.
"What's wrong, Lan'er? Are you feeling unwell?"
"I'm a little tired. I've never stood for so long before. Brother Meng, I'll go rest first and come out to watch you train the troops later."
"Okay." Qiao Dameng immediately had two soldiers escort Du Qinglan to his room in the central military building.
The captains and lieutenant generals each had their own rooms, which were quite spacious, but they were not furnished and looked rather empty at first glance.
Du Qinglan closed the doors and windows, wandered around inside for a while, found a good spot, and then took out the letter from her sleeve.
