Chapter 574 The whole truth is revealed (2/2)

As Consort Han passed by the window, Qiao Lian'er took out the box she had stored in her spatial storage at the Loyalty Bureau and placed it on the windowsill for a few seconds.

The black sandalwood box sat there motionless.

Consort Han noticed something out of the corner of her eye, and upon closer inspection, her eyes widened in surprise.

That was the box she used to carry the bounty to the Loyalty Bureau; she was sure she wasn't mistaken.

How could it have ended up here? The box was already packed away when it was brought back. It's impossible for a servant to make such a basic mistake.

Consort Han's face, which had finally regained a sliver of color, instantly drained of all color, and her whole body trembled violently as she let out a scream.

"ah--"

She covered her eyes and hid in the emperor's arms.

The piercing scream stabbed at the emperor's eardrums, disturbing his peaceful mood.

"What happened?"

Consort Han, trembling with fear, pointed towards the windowsill: "There, there is a black wooden box."

But she turned her face away, not daring to look.

The emperor looked in the direction she was pointing, and saw that the windowsill was empty except for a vase with dried flowers in it.

His brows furrowed again: "Where is the box? The Imperial Concubine has mistaken you for someone else."

Judging from the emperor's tone, he didn't seem to be joking. Consort Han peeked her finger through a crack and saw that the box had indeed disappeared. She stood there, stunned and dumbfounded.

But she was certain she hadn't misread it. Instantly, the hairs on her body stood on end, as if an extremely cold wind was whistling past, and her internal organs felt as if they were frozen.

There are ghosts, there really are ghosts playing tricks on her, coming to scare her unexpectedly.

No wonder the plan couldn't be carried out smoothly; there were always some dirty things interfering in the shadows.

Consort Han had initially only suspected it, but now she was certain. The extreme fear had overwhelmed her soul, causing her to lose all her senses.

"A ghost! Ah, a ghost!" Consort Han pushed the emperor aside and paced around the hall, waving her hands in terror.

She suddenly laughed in a sinister tone, pointing at a void and cursing.

"Qiao Lian'er, who told you to harm my son? Otherwise, why would I hire someone to kill you? You were in the wrong first. I didn't even take your life, yet you still want to take revenge on me. You've ruined both my son and me."

Upon hearing this, Granny Zhou was horrified: "Your Highness! Please stop talking!"

She knelt down before the emperor again: "Your Majesty, the Imperial Concubine was frightened and spoke without thinking. These words are just idle talk, please do not take them seriously."

The emperor's face turned ashen, and he said quietly, "Let her continue."

Even if it were nonsense, how could it contain such specific details?

Granny Zhou was trembling with fear and filled with unease. She could only look at Consort Han with pleading eyes and give her hints.

But Consort Han didn't even glance at her; she continued to point to the sky and curse the earth, searching for enemies in the void.

“My son wants to wipe out your entire Qiao family, but so what? My son is the most favored eldest prince. He can kill whoever he wants, and he will sit on the throne in the future.”

"How dare you let my son suffer such a loss and make him have such bad luck? How could I, as his mother, not repay you? And you're still not satisfied? You're trying to scare me with those filthy things."

“I am not wrong, you are wrong. Your Qiao family should not have come to the capital. Hmph, if it doesn’t work this time, there will be a next time. As long as you are dead, your Qiao family will be easy to deal with.”
