Pei Shijiu knew that the Mu family had come to the capital to cause trouble, but when he received the news and was about to take action, they had already disappeared. He knew that Qiao Lian'er must have made a move.
Unexpectedly, she abandoned them on a deserted island, making them never return; that was worse than death.
"I'm looking for you because I want to meet some famous and renowned artists," Qiao Lian'er said.
The Qiao family had only been in the capital for a few years and their connections were still shallow, so she couldn't pay them a visit directly to avoid being abrupt.
"That's easy. When do we meet?"
"The sooner the better."
Pei Shijiu thought for a moment and said, "Alright, I will invite everyone to the Pei Prince's Mansion. You can go too."
"However, it may not be as fast as expected. After sending out invitations, it will depend on everyone's schedule. I will send someone to let you know once everything is ready."
"Okay." Qiao Lian'er didn't stand on ceremony with him.
Pei Shijiu was busy with his business, and after taking a couple of sips of tea, he hurriedly left.
He walked out of the teahouse, clenched his fist, and looked down at the snail shell in his palm. It was small, round and exquisite, and easy to carry. A warm light appeared in his eyes.
"Looking at paintings? What paintings are you looking at?" Pei Zhujin put down the book in her hand and looked at her younger brother in front of her.
“We have quite a few paintings by famous artists from various dynasties in our storeroom. I plan to invite a few masters to come and appraise them. Brother, here are the keys.”
Pei Shijiu stretched out his hand in front of Pei Zhujin.
Those famous paintings are all very valuable, some even priceless. They are kept with other valuables, and the door to the treasury is not easily opened.
Pei Zhujin did not hesitate and placed the key in his palm: "Why do you suddenly want to do this? You have never liked to be pretentious."
"The princess wants to say a few words to those people," Pei Shijiu said. "Brother, don't worry, I won't cause you any trouble."
"I see." Pei Zhujin's eyebrows touched with a smile: "So that's why you made such a big fuss, opening the storeroom and inviting everyone."
After noon, Wu Qingjin came to the Qiao family to find Qiao Zhizhi.
"I've already spoken with the Prince of Guangping, and we're just waiting to bring you here."
Since she was going to the Prince's residence, Qiao Zhizhi changed into a more formal outfit, which made her look more composed.
"Qingjin, thank you." Qiao Zhizhi patted Wu Qingjin's hand: "Come on, let's go broaden our horizons."
The two held hands, appearing very close.
Where are you all going?
A voice came from behind them. The two turned around and saw Qiao Lian'er. She smiled politely, but a hint of wariness flashed in Wu Qingjin's eyes, and she immediately put on an innocent smile.
"I'm going to take Zhizhi out to play. She's been cooped up in her room painting all day and she's getting so bored. Don't worry, Princess, I'll make sure to return Zhizhi to you."
"Perfect timing, I'm also free to do nothing. You guys seem to be in a good mood, so the place you're going to must be really fun. Can I join you?"
Qiao Lian'er tilted her head, looking quite interested.
