"Are you kidding me?" Uncle Yin frowned.
Those three mountains couldn't possibly have any minerals.
They thought they had made a mistake in their judgment all along, and that someone might have discovered the treasure, had it marked by the government, and then the government would sell it at a high price.
"How much did Miss Shui spend to get the permit?"
"One hundred thousand taels of silver."
Uncle Yin was stunned for a moment. What was the difference between 100,000 taels of silver and buying a few barren mountains? It was just like buying mountains that had no value at all, and being a mountain owner for a while.
After all, she's just a little girl; Uncle Yin couldn't help but laugh.
But he wasn't entirely reassured: "Let's go dig up those mountains and see if there's any jade inside."
Qiao Lian'er has already obtained the approval, which means those three mountains are hers. No matter how powerful Uncle Yin is, he can't openly dig up other people's mountains.
This task was assigned for the evening.
Qiao Lian'er is now in the residential area, recruiting residents to work for her.
Many residents gathered at the entrance of the courtyard of the Dansuo siblings. They were naturally very willing to accept the offer from the Water Girl, who was said to be quite good.
Seeing that quite a few people had arrived, Qiao Lian'er held up one finger: "This amount per month, plus 100 catties of rice and 3 catties of pork."
A resident mimicked his gesture: "How much is this number?"
But Solo translated for him. After two days of rest, he was able to get out of bed with difficulty.
“One tael of silver a month,” Qiao Lian’er said.
The residents' eyes widened. One tael a month, that would be twelve taels a year!
They had a large family with children and parents, and they could only afford to spend a maximum of four taels of silver a year. However, they couldn't even earn that much. They relied on picking up stones, whether it was a stable source or just a matter of luck, and they were lucky if they could eat seven or eight tenths full each day.
But the Water Maiden immediately asked for twelve taels of silver a year, plus rice and meat.
Is there really such a good thing in the world?
Some even muttered, "Is this the Buddha Nagarjuna reborn?"
“Miss Shui, did I hear that right? One tael of silver a month?” a resident asked.
“Yes, one tael a month, one hundred catties of rice, and three catties of pork.” Qiao Lian’er saw the bewildered expressions on everyone’s faces and knew they didn’t believe her.
Sure enough, after confirming it, the residents all gasped in surprise.
"Count me in, I want to sign up."
"All five members of my family who are able-bodied went to work for the Water Girl."
"There are nine able-bodied people in my family, as long as Miss Shui doesn't think we have too many."
"You can never have too many people." Qiao Lian'er has three mountains, and the local residents, counting only the labor force, number six hundred.
These villagers all did the work for her, and that was barely enough.
Their names are different from those in Daze Kingdom, and Qiao Lian'er can't remember them clearly. Anyway, every household has to participate, so there's no need to register them. At worst, the soldiers can check them every day.
"Everyone, go back now. Construction will begin the day after tomorrow."
Qiao Lian'er was actually giving Uncle Yin time, after all, Uncle Yin wanted to go to her mountain to investigate thoroughly.
