As the master and servant were talking, they entered through the west corner gate. Just as they were about to enter through the hanging flower gate, Shi Murou saw Qiao Lian'er sitting in the front yard.
A little girl with her hair tied in a bun and wearing coarse cotton clothes had bright, clear eyes and delicate features, though she still looked somewhat childish because of her young age.
"Who are you? What are you doing here in my house?" Shi Murou was not happy to see a stranger.
Qiao Lian'er was also observing Shi Murou. She was a little chubby and wore a pleated satin dress with a ruyi shape. Her waist was stretched tight. Her features were not naturally beautiful, but with makeup and eyebrow drawing, she still looked quite attractive.
She stood up, holding the jar: "Miss, are these the snacks you ordered?"
Shi Murou was puzzled; she didn't seem to have ordered anything from anyone in the past two days.
However, she was a little curious about what was inside, so she beckoned to Qiao Lian'er: "Come here, let me see."
Qiao Lian'er walked up to Shi Murou, raised the jar, and brought it close to Shi Murou's nose.
A rich aroma wafted in, instantly filling Shi Murou with anticipation.
"This smells so good, let me try some right away."
Her maid ran in and brought chopsticks. Shi Murou tasted a piece of dried mushroom, and her eyes immediately lit up.
"It smells so good! I want to buy them all. How much?"
Of course it smells good, it's a termite mushroom!
As Qiao Lian'er thought about it, she covered the mouth of the small jar.
"Miss, it seems I've mistaken you for someone else. This isn't for you. I'm sorry, I'll be leaving now."
How could Shi Murou let her go? She quickly stepped in front of her.
"You're not allowed to leave. Even if you want to sell it to someone else, this thing is mine now that I've taken a liking to it. Just name your price."
She had confirmed that she had not ordered anything from this girl. Firstly, she had never met her, and secondly, she had never eaten anything from her.
But once she discovers that there is such delicious food in the world, how could she possibly let her go?
“Miss, this isn’t a good idea. I still need to find the buyer. What if they get impatient and have a bad impression of me?”
"Why do you care so much? If you can't even remember her, it means you're not close. If you stay further away, where will she find you to settle scores?"
"Name your price, I'm too lazy to argue with you." Shi Murou stared intently at the jar, wishing she could devour everything inside.
Qiao Lian'er said that the jar contained a pound of matsutake mushrooms and that it cost three taels of silver.
"Ah, three taels of silver for such a small amount of food? That's a bit outrageous," the maid beside Shi Murou frowned.
The most exquisite pastries, I ate several plates of them, but I didn't even need an ounce.
"Take it or leave it." Qiao Lian'er said, carrying the jar as she headed out.
“Alright, alright, stay here. I’ll give you three taels this time, but if you have any good stuff like this in the future, you should bring it here to sell. Then I’ll give you two, no, one tael,” Shi Murou said.
Her allowance is also fixed; she can't spend it recklessly.
One visit from Qiao Lian'er was certainly not enough; she needed to get to know Shi Murou first before proceeding to the next step.
He pretended to hesitate for a moment, then agreed: "Okay, when I find that person, I'll tell them that I won't deliver to her anymore, I'll only deliver to Miss."
“That’s right. This stuff is so delicious, if you don’t sell it to me, I won’t let you sell it to anyone else.” Shi Murou was a bit domineering.
After receiving the three taels of silver, Qiao Lian'er left the Shi family's residence.
