Chapter 120 Cooking

Yue Wenxing quickly followed suit, "Today can be described as a double celebration. Our two families have a deep connection. Let's have a drink together."

"Come on, let's have a drink." Jin Wantai picked up his wine glass and clinked it with Yue Wenxing's. "You two, you have to include me too. Xiao Jin, oh no, Xiao Yue is also a guest of our Qin family." Qin Jinghui also came up.

Everyone else raised their glasses as well. This was quite a novel event. The Yue family nephew was recognizing his ancestors and discovered that the Qin family's young lady was actually the Jin family's niece after she lost her memory. It was quite a coincidence that the three great families of the capital were brought together in such a clever way.

After the banquet, the Jin family wanted Xu Zhaoyue to rest at their home, so they decided to move there. However, Qin Jingqian couldn't explain this to her aunt, so she refused, insisting that Xu Zhaoyue should return to the Qin family.

There was no reason for Yue Lanxing to stay in the Yue family, but Yue Lanxing's attitude was that he would follow wherever the young lady went.

"Okay, I'll stay here for a while, then go back to the Qin family tonight, and go to my uncle's house tomorrow. I can't be used as two halves by myself."

Since Xu Zhaoyue had said so, no one disagreed. After seeing off the Qin and Jin families, Xu Zhaoyue and Yue Lanxing went to his villa. The Yue family mansion was quite large, with seven or eight villas and houses in the back.

"Why is it so deserted here?" Xu Zhaoyue glanced around and found no one else was there. "You really came alone without anyone?"

Just as Yue Lanxing was about to say that Xue Huzi was with them, she saw Xue Huzi run in and kneel down at Xu Zhaoyue's feet.

Upon receiving the news, Xue Huzi immediately rushed in from outside. As soon as he entered, he knelt down and cried. Xu Zhaoyue, seeing him crying, didn't know how to comfort him. "No, why are you crying so much?"

"I...I...Xiao Nan, she..." Xue Huzi cried so hard he couldn't even finish a sentence.

Upon hearing the name Xiao Nan, Xu Zhaoyue immediately became anxious. "Stop crying! What happened to Xiao Nan? Lan Xing, what happened to Xiao Nan? And what about Aunt Wu, Uncle Sun, and the others?"

Xu Zhaoyue's tone was very anxious, "Why don't we leave tonight and go back to Shanghai?" She was thinking that they had agreed that nothing would happen to these people.

"Wait, relax first." Yue Lanxing comforted Xu Zhaoyue first, then directly picked up Xue Huzi and lifted him up. "Stand up straight when you speak. You were fine when you came out, so why are you crying like that? Shut up!"

Xue Huzi knew he had gotten himself into trouble, so he immediately shook his head. "No...no...I meant to say that Xiao Nan was really worried about the young lady. She went out to look for her several times, and she cried every time she came back."

"I'm so excited to see Miss here, I don't even know what to say." Xue Huzi wiped away his tears with his sleeve.

When Xu Zhaoyue heard that Xiao Nan was alright, she breathed a sigh of relief. She knew nothing would happen.

"Go outside and calm down for a bit, don't scare me anymore. We'll go back in a couple of days. By the way, isn't sending a message faster than going back ourselves?" Xu Zhaoyue said, clutching her chest.

Yue Lanxing recalled the letter they had sent to the Jin family and nodded, "Yes, it's not as fast as our journey, so we need to set off as soon as possible."

Seeing that the two of them had started chatting again, Xue Huzi quickly and quietly left, otherwise he would really get a beating.

“I’ve already spoken to Grandma Qin, but I wanted to take her back to Shanghai. Now it seems we should go back first. Luckily I didn’t leave, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to see each other for another two weeks.”

Xu Zhaoyue looked at Yue Lanxing with delight when a rumble from her stomach echoed in the hall.

Xu Zhaoyue's face turned red instantly, even more so than blush. Before she could say anything, Yue Lanxing immediately went to cook, "You sit down first, I'll go cook. I've learned a lot of dishes from Aunt Wu."

Yue Lanxing pulled out a chair for Xu Zhaoyue to sit down, then made a phone call to have some ingredients delivered. As Xu Zhaoyue sat down and straightened her skirt, she suddenly remembered that her skirt was perfect for moving around.

"Lanxing, my skirt is too long. Do you have clothes in your normal size?" Xu Zhaoyue asked.

“My clothes are all in my room upstairs. I’ll have someone ask Mingyuan for one first,” Yue Lanxing said as she came out of the kitchen. “Waiting here is too boring. There are books and a phonograph upstairs.”

"Okay, I'll go up first." Xu Zhaoyue lifted her skirt, revealing slippers she had already changed into. "Why are your feet blistered?" Yue Lanxing noticed the red line below Xu Zhaoyue's ankle out of the corner of her eye.

Yue Lanxing pressed Xu Zhaoyue back into the chair. "Don't move, let me take a look."

"It's nothing, I was just walking too fast and didn't notice it." Xu Zhaoyue herself didn't think that getting a little scraped was a big deal, but in Yue Lanxing's eyes it meant something completely different.

Every time he woke up in the middle of the night, he would secretly vow that he would never let the young lady be hurt again. Doesn't a shoe rubbing against the foot mean that the shoe is not suitable? The young lady of the Xu family has two cabinets full of shoes, and none of them are unsuitable.

Yue Lanxing tormented himself internally, knowing that he shouldn't blame anyone else but himself for not staying by the young lady's side.

Seeing that he remained silent and his expression darkened, Xu Zhaoyue thought to herself that his temper had worsened after not seeing him for half a year. "Don't blame yourself. Why are you so angry with yourself?"

"Ah? I didn't... Miss, let me carry you up first." When Yue Lanxing saw Xu Zhaoyue's eyes, she knew that her feeble explanation was useless.

Before Xu Zhaoyue could react, Yue Lanxing picked her up. "Hey, be careful not to trip over your skirt."

Yue Lanxing walked steadily, "How could I not walk steadily if I can carry the young lady?"

Yue Lanxing placed Xu Zhaoyue on the sofa, which was long enough for her to lie down. He quickly made tea and said, "This is from home. I hope you like the taste, Miss." He handed her the cup.
