Drinking is an essential part of dinner parties. At first, it's fine to eat a few bites while having a drink, but later it starts to become a drinking contest. Yue Lanxing is obedient and tries not to drink too much if she can.
The fat man was the first to start rambling, followed by the broker. Only now could Yue Lanxing catch his breath. He looked at the tall man and said, "Brother, I really can't drink anymore. Both of them have passed out. If we keep drinking, we'll have to spend the night here."
The tall guy shook his head, trying to clear his head, but failed. Seeing that the glass in his hand was blurry, he could only put it down. "Okay! We've had enough to drink today. I'm very happy. We're the two of us who have drunk the most among our group of brothers."
“They all didn’t want to drink with us, but today was really great. I’m definitely going to be your brother.” The tall man pointed to the fat man on the table, and then to Yue Lanxing.
Yue Lanxing thought it was right that no one was drinking with them; even drunkards couldn't drink this much. Just as he was about to speak in a drunken tone, the door to the private room was pushed open.
Xue Huzi poked his head in. "Brother Yue! I've come to pick you up." Yue Lanxing looked at Xue Huzi in shock, then tried to check the time before realizing he wasn't wearing a watch. It was dark outside, so it must be after get off work. But what was Xue Huzi doing here?
"Oh, someone's here to pick you up. Well then, you can go now. I'll take the two of them back to sleep." The tall man, seeing that someone had come, swayed as he stood up from his chair, trying to take a few steps but almost fell over.
Yue Lanxing quickly helped him up, "Wait a minute, wait a minute, let's take you back first. You can give us directions. Hu Zi, come and help us." Xue Hu Zi hurriedly pushed open the door and came in. He wanted to say something but didn't. He picked up Fatty and Fang Ya Zi from the table and walked out.
Yue Lanxing saw that he was indeed incredibly strong, judging from his steady gait. It took them almost half an hour to get the three drunkards to the housekeeper's house, mainly because the tall guy was the one who gave directions.
After Yue Lanxing and Xue Huzi came out of the alley, Xue Huzi spoke up, "Brother Yue! Miss is waiting for us in the car."
"Ah! You mean the young lady! Why is she here?" Yue Lanxing was so shocked that her voice became louder. Before Xue Huzi could answer, she ran forward, but stopped after running ten meters.
"Where did you park the car?" Yue Lanxing asked, turning around.
Seeing that he was still relatively lucid, Xue Huzi followed his steps. "We're in front of the restaurant. Miss is late with her experiment today. Tian Dai went to see Dr. Cui off. I'll take Miss home."
"Then we drove to an intersection, and the young lady said she wanted to check on you, so we came," Xue Huzi explained.
Yue Lanxing was extremely hot right now. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?!"
"Weren't there outsiders here just now? It would be really inappropriate for people to know that the young lady came to pick you up in person."
Xue Huzi's words calmed Yue Lanxing down instantly. He began to wonder why the young lady had come to pick him up. Was she concerned about him? Yue Lanxing asked himself this question. He desperately wanted the answer to be yes, yet he also felt unworthy of her.
Yue Lanxing fell silent, but Xue Huzi, who was leading the way, didn't notice. He just wanted to get back to the car as soon as possible. It had taken a lot of time to get here, and the young lady should be in the villa by now.
They quickened their pace and soon arrived at the car. Yue Lanxing got into the passenger seat and immediately turned to look at the back seat.
The young lady sat in the back watching him. Perhaps because of the alcohol, Yue Lanxing felt a dryness in his throat and couldn't speak. As the two of them looked at each other, Xue Huzi also got into the car.
Xu Zhaoyue spoke first, "What? Are you drunk? Don't you believe me? I came to pick you up?"
Yue Lanxing felt he was quite drunk. Although his tone was questioning, he could hear a lot of tenderness in his voice. "Miss, it's really inappropriate for you to come and pick me up."
“What’s wrong with it? It’s not safe for you to be out alone.” Xu Zhaoyue was already very tired from doing experiments and didn’t want to talk anymore. She leaned back in her chair and rested her head on the headrest.
Yue Lanxing wanted to say that he was a grown man and how could he not be safe, but seeing that the young lady was obviously tired but still came to pick him up, he changed his words to, "The young lady is so thoughtful."
Seeing that the young lady had closed her eyes, Yue Lanxing turned her head to look ahead. The car was silent for a moment, but there was no awkward atmosphere. Some people rested, and others drove.
When they arrived at the mansion, Xiao Nan was already waiting outside the villa, looking around anxiously. As soon as she saw the car, she rushed over to open the door, "Miss, you're finally back!"
"Yes, I'm back. I was busy with experiments and it got a little late." Xu Zhaoyue took Xiaonan's hand as they got out of the car. "Miss, you haven't had dinner yet, have you? I had someone make some plain noodles. Please have a little."
"Okay, take it into my room." Xu Zhaoyue nodded and looked at Yue Lanxing, but Yue Lanxing had her back to her, so she looked at Xue Huzi and asked, "Didn't you eat dinner?"
Yue Lanxing subconsciously turned around, only to see the young lady asking Xue Huzi. Xue Huzi scratched his head, not expecting the young lady to care about such things. "Not yet, oh, Tashiro hasn't eaten either, has he?"
"Xiao Nan, ask the kitchen to prepare more later, make a bowl for each of them, and remember to save some for Tian Dai since he hasn't come back yet." Xu Zhaoyue noticed that there was only their car in the yard, and Tian Dai's car hadn't returned yet.
Xiao Nan helped Xu Zhaoyue to the other side of the car. Xu Zhaoyue seemed to see Yue Lanxing by chance and said, "Lanxing, if you drink too much, you should eat something."
