Chapter 41 He Lianhua

Xu Zhaoyue lowered her head and thought for a moment. She could do this, but would she be satisfied with what she got in return?

"If it's just taking pictures of the entrance, that should be fine. Don't reply yet, let's talk in a couple of days." After all, that's the He family's territory, and she needs to let He Lianhua know.

When Yue Lanxing heard this request, her first reaction was that the reporter was too incompetent and needed their help. However, Zhao Mutou said that the reporters at the top all had connections and that they could only get ahead if they had powerful backers, so all the famous ones had already been recruited.

Cultivating talent from a young age to prevent others from poaching employees is a mutually beneficial endeavor. If it can be done, then do it; if not, there will be opportunities for future cooperation.

"Okay, I'll do whatever you say, Miss." After receiving the reply, Yue Lanxing withdrew. He was going downstairs to help prepare dinner. He might not be able to make the main dishes, but he could still learn something from the sidelines.

When Xu Zhaohao arrived, Yue Lanxing was setting out the dishes. "Butler Yue, what are you doing? My sister is so thrifty and hardworking, doing so many things at once!" Xu Zhaohao was quite surprised to see Yue Lanxing wearing an apron as soon as he entered the room.

“I paid him the salary of several people; how could I mistreat him?” Xu Zhaoyue also came down.

"Hey, sis, can I talk to you about something?" Xu Zhaohao rushed over as soon as he saw Xu Zhaoyue coming over, clasping his hands together in front of his chest and shaking them.

Xu Zhaoyue ignored him, "Don't try that on me. You always do this. Are you thinking of going away for a couple of days to hide away, that you'll feel uncomfortable meeting Kaiyuan all at once and need to take it easy?"

"No one knows me better than you, sister. But this time I just want to focus on reading. I have absolutely no other intentions. We can meet at the party later," Xu Zhaohao said.

"Sit down and eat first, we can talk while we eat," Xu Zhaoyue gestured for Xu Zhaohao to sit down and eat.

Xu Zhaohao had been active all afternoon and was starving. He sat down and started eating braised pork. "I'm really hungry. Wu Ma's cooking is amazing. If He Kaiyuan were here, he could definitely eat three bowls of rice."

Xu Zhaoyue couldn't help but laugh when she saw Xu Zhaohao mentioning He Kaiyuan so naturally. They clearly had so much to talk about every day after they met, so why was he so conflicted before meeting him?

"When did you start feeling anxious every time you see him? I remember you said a few times when you were little that you felt he was smarter and more capable than you, so you didn't want to play with him."

“But I never scolded you because he was better than you, did I? Why are you still traumatized?” Xu Zhaoyue was concerned about his mental health. After Xiao Hao first told her, she never took him to see He Kaiyuan again.

When she came back from outside, she saw He Kaiyuan at home. The two of them were having a great time. After this happened several times, she started teasing him, but this habit never seemed to get better.

Xu Zhaohao knew it wasn't anyone else's fault. "It's my problem. When I was little, I always felt like I couldn't compare to others. I couldn't learn anything well. My older sister was the best. I felt like a failure."

"Sigh, He Kaiyuan doesn't have many friends either. We're just companions. He talks about things I've never heard of or seen before. I'm just curious how he knows so much."

Xu Zhaoyue smiled and shook her head. It really was an awkward friendship. "You're not bad either. Besides, you've been making some progress in screenwriting and filmmaking lately, haven't you!"

"Really?" Xu Zhaohao's eyes immediately lit up, like a puppy that had been praised, craning its neck and shaking its head.

Xu Zhaoyue nodded firmly, "Of course, next time you meet, you can tell him what you've learned. He definitely won't know."

After finishing the meal, Xu Zhaohao walked back with light steps, looking full of confidence. Before leaving, he even said that he wanted to read three more books so that He Kaiyuan could broaden his horizons.

"It really makes a difference when you have something you love," Xu Zhaoyue remarked, watching his lighthearted figure disappear into the distance. "Hey, Lanxing, what are your hobbies?"

As Yue Lanxing walked over, she said, "Ah? I don't have any hobbies. I usually just train and learn from Butler Xu and the others." Xu Zhaoyue thought about it and realized that was true. After finishing her work every day, she didn't have time to cultivate any hobbies.

"I wonder if things will change if you have something you like? I'm actually quite curious," Xu Zhaoyue said with a smile.

Yue Lanxing pondered for a moment, thinking that she already had someone she liked, but she couldn't say, "What about Miss? Does Miss have any hobbies?"

"Hmm?" Xu Zhaoyue was taken aback by the question. "Well, I have some, like steamed buns, clothes, and jewelry."

"Especially jewelry, I like to collect gemstones of all colors. I don't like to make them into jewelry. I'm happy just looking at the uncut rough stones in the box."

“I have collected seven pieces of chicken-blood stone. The largest one is big enough to be made into a hair ornament, and the smallest one is perfectly round.” Xu Zhaoyue even gestured with her hands to show the two different sizes.

From Xu Zhaoyue's introduction, it was clear that her favorite thing was jewelry. Her radiant expression was particularly lively. Yue Lanxing watched from the side and occasionally chimed in with a few words.

Xu Zhaoyue only realized she had been so engrossed in talking about gemstones after she finished her tea. "Oh dear, I've lost track of time. You've been listening for so long, aren't you bored?"

“Not boring at all. What the young lady said was very interesting. I forgot to pour tea for her.” Yue Lanxing took the teapot to the thermos, poured in hot water, and then poured tea for the young lady.

"It's hard to imagine that there are so many valuable items in the storeroom. Last time we investigated the embezzlement, thankfully nothing was stolen." Yue Lanxing thought about how serious the consequences would be if the young lady's favorite gems were stolen.
