Chapter 53 Heartfelt Intentions

"Knock knock knock!" Xu Zhaoyue was awakened by the knocking. "Who is it? Come in."

"Oh my, these lozenges are a success." Cui Bai came in with the items, handed the lozenges and the report to Xu Zhaoyue, and then plopped down in a chair.

Xu Zhaoyue looked him over; his clothes were more casual than when he was at the company, which suggested that he was too busy running around to pharmacies to care about his appearance.

"You managed to get things done in just a few days. You truly deserve to be the chief disciple!" Xu Zhaoyue praised as she examined the quality of the lozenges.

Cui Bai poured himself a glass of water, gulped it down, and then said, "You know what, investigating the real situation is really tiring. No wonder my master used to say that I wasn't qualified enough and was only suitable to stay in Baicai Hall."

“I’ve seen more than ever before these past few days while running around, let me tell you…” Cui Bai explained to Xu Zhaoyue all the key points he had discovered in the past few days.

The more Xu Zhaoyue listened, the more convinced she felt that he had actually observed it. "Yes, lozenges taste bitter when you put them in your mouth. If a child insists on having sugar water, adults will definitely not be able to refuse, which will reduce the effectiveness of the medicine."

"How about this, you write all this down and compile it into a booklet or notes, then send it out with the pills when you sell them." Xu Zhaoyue's suggestion made Cui Bai's eyes light up; this was much better than the doctor's verbal reminder.

Cui Bai took this matter very seriously and immediately went to his office to start writing furiously.

Cui Bai's visit reminded Xu Zhaoyue that she still had work to do. She could put romance aside for now, since Yue Lanxing was on her turf and she could develop a relationship with him anytime.

Xu Zhaoyue picked up the documents and went to discuss them with Manager Fang. In the afternoon, she went to discuss the medicinal herbs with Manager Hong.

When Xu Zhaoyue returned to the villa, she saw Yue Lanxing waiting for her at the door. "Miss, you're back. The Han family's goods have been delivered, and I've had them packed up with my men." Yue Lanxing reported to the young lady what he had done that day.

"The He family also called and said they would come to apologize in person after a while. The He family has been too busy lately, and Miss He is too busy to come right away. Sending a gift is not sincere enough. They will come in person later."

Yue Lanxing's face showed only the joy of seeing the young lady return, as if he was completely unaware that the He family had come to apologize in person because he had been drugged at the He family's residence.

When Xu Zhaoyue heard him mention the He family, she realized that the He family hadn't sent any gifts to express their condolences yet. "The He family? Oh, it seems they've had a good talk with the Han family. They've been busy lately. Is there anything you want? I'll get it for you when she arrives."

Yue Lanxing shook his head. "I don't want anything. If this can help Miss, then it would be perfect." He meant that Miss could use his illness to her advantage.

“That’s true. If you want something, I’ll naturally give it to you. Why ask others for anything?” Xu Zhaoyue said in a light tone, quite satisfied with Yue Lanxing’s answer.

Upon hearing the young lady's slightly possessive words, Yue Lanxing couldn't help but smile knowingly. As the young lady's person, he naturally had to do everything through her.

As Xu Zhaoyue drank the soup stewed by Yue Lanxing, all the fatigue of the day dissipated. "Hey, why can I tell that this is your soup? It tastes a little different from the soup stewed by Aunt Wu, but I can't quite put my finger on why."

“I’m used to washing the ingredients a couple more times, and the order in which I add the seasonings might be different from Aunt Wu’s,” Yue Lanxing explained. “So, does Miss think my method doesn’t suit her taste?”

Xu Zhaoyue took another sip, carefully savoring the taste. The food culture was indeed profound and extensive; even slight changes could alter the flavor. "It's quite good. I was just asking how many times you've learned this. It feels like Aunt Wu is about to pass on all her knowledge to you."

"I've already learned ten dishes, but I haven't had the chance to cook them all for Miss." Yue Lanxing knew more than ten dishes, and she was being modest.

"Miss, please don't praise him too much. Aunt Wu has already praised him several times. I've been learning from him too. Can you taste the difference, Miss?" Xiao Nan brought over the dishes and looked at Xu Zhaoyue expectantly.

Xu Zhaoyue pointed to the plate of crystal pineapple on the table, "Look, that dish was made by you." Then she saw Xiao Nan's surprised look, "How did you guess, Miss? Do I have my own unique cooking skills now?"

"Yes, only the sweetness of this crystal pineapple is different every time. When you're happy, you put in more sugar and when you're not happy, you put in less sugar. It's hard for me not to notice."

Xu Zhaoyue ate a piece of meat just now and felt that it wasn't very sweet, so it seems that Xiao Nan is in a bad mood today.

Xiao Nan was amazed that the young lady could guess her mood just by the amount of sugar added. "Huh? But I can never tell the difference when I taste the food. The young lady is really amazing."

Yue Lanxing felt a little uneasy watching the two of them chatting and laughing. Just now, the young lady had been talking to him. "Ahem, after dinner, does the young lady need to go and see the things that the Han family sent?"

Xu Zhaoyue was indeed interested in this. "Great! Now that the gifts have arrived, I should go visit the Fang family. Xiao Nan, have you prepared the gifts I asked you to prepare before?"

"Oh, not yet. When will you use it, Miss?" Xiao Nan thought for a moment and realized she had forgotten about it, so she shook her head guiltily.

Xu Zhaoyue was just mentioning it casually, it wasn't something we needed to use tomorrow. "It's okay, let's start preparing tomorrow. We should still call and ask first, this needs to be done before Father comes back."

Not only should the visit to the Fang family be handled well, but if the Fang family agrees, it would be best to also deal with those small gangs as soon as possible.
