Yue Lanxing waited for her to fall asleep. She had been busy all day, and seeing the young lady here made her feel at ease. This was probably what love was. Yue Lanxing thought that if she had always wanted to protect the young lady before, she might have to be a little greedier in the future.
Another hour passed, and just as Yue Lanxing was about to pick up Xu Zhaoyue and return to the villa, cheers came from afar, making it clear that there really was a meteor shower.
"Young Miss, wake up! A meteor shower is coming." Yue Lanxing quickly woke Xu Zhaoyue up, but he didn't dare to use too loud a voice. He shook Xu Zhaoyue's head to successfully wake her up.
Xu Zhaoyue felt someone calling her, and when she opened her eyes, she saw Yue Lanxing in front of her. "Oh! What are you doing here? Ouch!" She jumped up and bumped into Yue Lanxing.
"You've really practiced well." Xu Zhaoyue bumped into Yue Lanxing's chest, subconsciously raising her hand to touch him, but then immediately forgot what she was going to say and quickly pulled her hand back.
Yue Lanxing didn't care about being embarrassed. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Xu Zhaoyue's forehead wasn't red. "Is your forehead alright, Miss? The meteor shower is coming soon."
"Oh? So fast? Let me see." Xu Zhaoyue took another look when she lifted the blanket, thinking that she didn't remember her. Yue Lanxing must have covered her with it while she was asleep.
Xu Zhaoyue took two steps around the screen, and just then the meteor shower began. One meteor after another streaked across the night sky, leaving their mark on the night.
"Wow, come quick! You're so beautiful!" Xu Zhaoyue immediately turned around to look at Yue Lanxing, waved to him, and beckoned him over. Yue Lanxing also came over; she was indeed beautiful.
He remembered reading in the book that meteor showers are generally formed by groups of meteors formed from fragments of comets breaking off and burning up due to friction as they enter the Earth's atmosphere at high speeds, producing a luminous effect.
Many books describe the beauty of meteor showers. He had encountered meteor showers before, but he had never seen or understood the beauty described in the books. Now, seeing them, they truly resembled a beautiful painting.
Yue Lanxing shifted her gaze to Xu Zhaoyue's face. The light from the shooting star shone on her face, making her look like someone from a dream, as if the young lady had sobered up and all the conversation from before had disappeared.
Just as Xu Zhaoyue was about to ask Yue Lanxing to make a wish, she happened to make eye contact with Yue Lanxing. "Why are you looking at me? Are you looking at a shooting star? Do you want to make a wish?"
“Meteor showers are… I already made a wish.” Yue Lanxing wanted to explain the formation of meteor showers, that they couldn’t grant wishes, but she swallowed her words and said something else.
Xu Zhaoyue looked at him suspiciously, as if to say she didn't believe him. "Hmm? So fast? Okay, what did you wish for?"
"Don't wishes become impossible if you say them out loud? Miss hasn't made a wish yet." Yue Lanxing had been watching her the whole time, and even though Miss herself hadn't made a wish, he still remembered to make him one.
Xu Zhaoyue raised an eyebrow, then said ambiguously, "Where can a shooting star grant a wish?"
Seeing that the young lady didn't believe him, Yue Lanxing immediately wanted to ask why he should make a wish. Then Xu Zhaoyue explained, "But I can help you fulfill your wish, so what were you thinking about just now? Is there something you want?"
"No!" Yue Lanxing was stumped by the question. She subconsciously denied it first and then added, "Since Miss doesn't believe that shooting stars can grant wishes, then my wishes can also be granted by myself. Asking Miss for help is cheating."
He spoke very seriously. Xu Zhaoyue looked at his earnest expression, his tone was relaxed but his eyes seemed to be full of determination, "Okay, tell me when you achieve it."
As they talked, shooting stars streaked across the night sky, highlighting the interplay of light and shadow in the surrounding scenery.
"Alright, it's getting late, let's go back." Xu Zhaoyue suggested going back. "Okay." Yue Lanxing quickly went back to get a blanket, then came over and draped it over Xu Zhaoyue. "It's windy outside."
Xu Zhaoyue stood there obediently as he covered her with the blanket. When they left, Yue Lanxing reached out his hand for her to support him, and Xu Zhaoyue put her hand on Yue Lanxing's arm.
Neither of them spoke for the rest of the journey, but there was no awkwardness; the quiet of the night was very comforting.
When Xiao Nan came back down the mountain, Xu Zhaoyue was already in bed, but she could still hear the excited Xiao Nan sharing her joy, "Miss, the young master was up there too, he had binoculars, so he could see even more clearly."
"He went too. Will he be able to get up when he goes back to school tomorrow?" Xu Zhaoyue wondered why she wasn't sleepy at all, and how long she had actually slept.
"Now that you mention it, I'm sleepy too. You seem quite energetic, but you should go to sleep soon, you have to go to work tomorrow." Xiao Nan yawned, knowing she couldn't chat anymore, tucked the blanket around Xu Zhaoyue, and left.
Xu Zhaoyue fell asleep with questions in her mind, and unexpectedly, she actually remembered them. When she woke up in the morning, she was shocked to find that she had actually gotten drunk the night before, and Yue Lanxing had been comforting her the whole time.
"My God, is this a dream?" Xu Zhaoyue wondered, glancing at Yue Lanxing several times on her way to work, as if he had no memory of her.
Yue Lanxing refrained from asking, as the young lady's gaze was simply too hard to ignore.
In just one day, the two of them adjusted themselves. Xu Zhaoyue felt that since Yue Lanxing hadn't said anything, it meant he had no objections, so she stopped worrying about it. Yue Lanxing, on the other hand, got used to Xu Zhaoyue's scrutiny.
Xu Zhaoyue immersed herself in her work and handled everything with ease. Manager Yuan entrusted her with his tasks, ostensibly for training purposes, and Xu Zhaoyue certainly took them on. However, she needed to select another assistant.
