Behind Chapter 48

"Here it is." Xiao Nan put the tray on the table and walked over to Xu Zhaoyue, leaning against her.

When Xu Zhaoyue saw her coming, she reached out and patted her arm, tilted her head and smiled at her, which instantly cheered Xiao Nan up.

"Look, I've been thinking about preparing some things for you these past few days. Last time your clothes were all cut up, so I bought you a new set. From now on, you'll have a new set every month. The dial of this watch is made of sapphire crystal. As my butler, you definitely need to make a good impression."

Yue Lanxing walked up and looked at these things, not knowing what to say for a moment. Xu Zhaoyue thought he was looking at the remaining two items, so she introduced them to him.

"This pen is different from the previous ones. Different quality pens write differently. I only brought back twenty of these. The box contains pistols, two Berettas, but they were a gift from the Han family. I was afraid someone would take them, so I left them with me for now."

As Xu Zhaoyue explained, Yue Lanxing examined each item one by one. When he opened the gun, he reached out and touched the barrel. This was a valuable item. "This gun should be given to the young lady," he said.

“The young lady has already promised to give me one-third of the compensation from the Han family, so I’m just passing on this to her for self-defense.” Yue Lanxing closed the gun again and held it in front of the young lady.

Seeing that he didn't seem reluctant, Xu Zhaoyue was still very happy, even though she knew it was Yue Lanxing's sense of duty as a subordinate. "Is that so? Then I won't be polite. It's too late today. I'll let you see my marksmanship tomorrow."

Xu Zhaoyue touched the box and looked at Yue Lanxing triumphantly, seemingly very confident in her marksmanship, or perhaps very satisfied with Yue Lanxing's actions just now. Yue Lanxing couldn't think about these things; he only thought the young lady's smile was very beautiful.

After dropping out of school, he studied at home and believed he was no worse than those who had gone to school. But now he couldn't think of a single word to describe his current feelings, and all he could hear was the pounding of his heart.

Because Yue Lanxing's mind was in a daze, he forgot to avoid the young lady's gaze. Xu Zhaoyue watched his panic without looking away.

"Our young lady is the best archer, she hits the bullseye every time," Xiao Nan said proudly.

Her voice broke the strange atmosphere in the room. Yue Lanxing was stunned for a moment and then lowered his head, looking very obedient, but his ears were listening carefully to what Xiao Nan was saying.

"I've never participated in a competition?" Xu Zhaoyue looked at Xiao Nan in confusion, even she didn't know that she was the number one in horse archery.

"Miss, have you forgotten? When Miss Yan turned 18, she invited all the famous young masters and ladies of Shanghai to the hotel. They spent three days there, including an afternoon with a horse riding competition and a shooting game in the evening."
