When Yue Lanxing came down again, he was dressed in a handsome suit, looking like he was there to invite the young lady to a banquet. Who would have thought he was there to serve her food?
"It feels like you're inviting me to dance, so formal." Xu Zhaoyue kept looking at Yue Lanxing. With that figure, that temperament, that face, he really looks best in a suit.
"Young Miss, I can't dance. I might need you to teach me." Yue Lanxing walked over to the steamed sea bass and picked up her chopsticks to remove the bones from the fish.
Xu Zhaoyue raised her chin and happily agreed, "Okay, when I have time. You learn things quickly, you can probably learn them in an afternoon, nothing is difficult."
Yue Lanxing nodded and kept it in mind. Xu Zhaoyue was in a good mood after waking up. What Yue Lanxing said in the afternoon gave her great comfort.
After dinner, Xu Zhaoyue would use the evening to think of public relations strategies, while Yue Lanxing went to find Ma Shangcao. He asked someone to pass a message to Ma Shangcao, and the two of them would meet that evening.
"What do you want from me? You don't want to beat me up again, do you?" Ma Shangcao looked at Yue Lanxing cautiously.
“If you’re scared, you don’t have to come.” Yue Lanxing saw that he had come anyway, which meant he wasn’t a coward. “There’s something I want to discuss with you.”
Immediately, Cao looked at Yue Lanxing with suspicion. "You have something to discuss with me? Isn't such a big villa enough for you to manage? Why do you have to manage me, the second young lady's bodyguard?"
"What do you mean by 'managing' or 'not managing'? Bodyguards don't belong to anyone; their future is all earned through their own hard work," Yue Lanxing said with a smile.
This stumped Ma Shangcao. "Just say what you mean directly, don't beat around the bush."
"Alright, I'll get straight to the point. Miss still needs more manpower. Rather than choosing from the martial arts school, I think it's faster to select from the mansion's bodyguards." Yue Lanxing explained, even though the martial arts school had already recruited almost all of its members.
Immediately after glancing around to make sure there were no ambushes, Cao raised his voice, "So that's why you called me here? The young lady didn't want me back then, what's the meaning of this now? Why don't you go ask Xu Dachuan for me?"
Yue Lanxing thought to herself, "If you lose out on the nine-out-of-three selection, who can you blame? Besides Xu Dachuan's men, who else in the mansion can replace you? Me, Xue Huzi, Tian Dai, who among the three of us can you replace?"
"Well... that wasn't fair back then." After thinking about it, Cao Ma realized that it wasn't. He had seen the skills of the three of them before, and he knew he couldn't beat them.
Yue Lanxing saw that he was still bothered by his previous failure to be selected, which meant he wanted to come over. "I won't say anything more. You should first leave the Second Miss's side. Bodyguards can go to the storeroom as long as their master agrees. Go to the storeroom first, and then I'll transfer you to the Eldest Miss's side."
"As for how you get back to the warehouse, you'll have to figure that out yourself." Yue Lanxing said and left. If the problem couldn't be solved, there was no point in trying to win him over.
After Yue Lanxing returned, Xiao Nan asked him to go to the study, saying, "Miss wants you to come over." Xiao Nan had been quiet since the meal, and Yue Lanxing wanted to remind her not to be too obvious, but considering that the young lady had already noticed, he didn't interfere further.
"Okay, I'll be right there." Yue Lanxing knocked on the door and then opened it himself. "Miss, I went out earlier and didn't come back in time." He first explained why he hadn't come over immediately.
Seeing how nervous he was, Xu Zhaoyue couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh, I'm not that strict, am I? It's not like I need you to be by my side all the time."
“It’s my duty to stay by Miss’s side,” Yue Lanxing said. “Alright, no need to say nice things to make me happy. Are you seasick?” Xu Zhaoyue changed the subject.
Yue Lanxing was taken aback for a moment. "I've never been on a boat before, so I don't know if I get seasick."
“Okay, then arrange a boat for us to go on a trip. We need to go on a boat to discuss business in a month, and you will need to stay by my side at all times then,” Xu Zhaoyue said solemnly.
"Is this the business we discussed at the dock last time? It's progressing so quickly. Okay, I'll contact them tomorrow." Yue Lanxing greatly admired the young lady's business acumen; no wonder she had studied abroad.
Xu Zhaoyue waved him out, "Go ahead, but don't be late taking me to the company tomorrow."
Yue Lanxing stopped in his tracks just as he was about to turn around. He knew there would be trouble if he went out now. After only a second, he reacted, "I'd better stay and work with Miss for a while."
Then he walked over to the desk and started tidying things up. "Hmm?" Xu Zhaoyue looked at him in surprise. "I haven't finished reading yet."
"Oh, I'll put it back." Yue Lanxing quickly put the documents she had just put away back. "Would you like tea or coffee, Miss?"
Xu Zhaoyue sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Never mind, go sit over there and read a book." She waved for Yue Lanxing to sit down; if she drank anything to stay awake, she would have insomnia tonight.
"Oh." Seeing that she couldn't help, Yue Lanxing went over and picked up an English book, sat down, and quietly read.
The two of them sat in the room without disturbing each other.
However, Xu Zhaoyue clearly felt that her work speed had increased. "Okay, work is done, let's go." Xu Zhaoyue sat down in the chair and stretched.
Yue Lanxing closed the book she had been reading for more than half, glanced at her watch and saw it was 10:20, not too late. "I'll go call Xiaonan over. Miss, get a good night's sleep tonight."
Xu Zhaoyue watched him leave the study. Was it because there was someone pleasing to the eye sitting there that her work efficiency was so high? No one could answer that question, but Xu Zhaoyue did indeed have a good night's sleep.
The next morning, Xu Zhaohao ran over to say goodbye, "Sis, I'm going to school. If you miss me, just give me a call and I'll come back right away."
