Chapter 126 Many Suspicions

Lu An Ning subconsciously supported the thin little girl in front of him. When he took a closer look, he saw that she was pale and looked only about fourteen or fifteen years old. Her eyes were full of panic, as if she was afraid of something.

Just as Lu An Ning was about to ask about the situation, two men ran over. Seeing them, the little girl was so scared that she hid behind Lu An Ning, not daring to make a sound.

Sensing something was wrong, Lu Anning glanced at Tang Jingyuan and stepped forward to stand in front of the little girl.

"What are you going to do?"

This girl must be from an orphanage, and the two men are wearing the clothes of the orphanage teachers. If they are all from here, why is this child so scared when seeing them?

The two men looked at each other, and one of them stepped forward to explain, "Miss, you don't know, this child got into trouble and was afraid of being punished, so he ran out in fear."

"What kind of trouble did I get into to make her so scared?"

The man hesitated and couldn't give a specific reason for a long time. When the two sides were deadlocked, Ouyang Ying hurried over. As soon as she opened her mouth, Lu Anning noticed that the person behind her stiffened.

"An Ning, you don't understand the situation. Xiaoling is a child with many ideas and loves to play pranks. She has already damaged many facilities in the orphanage and refuses to obey discipline. Last night, she caused a big fuss and caused the orphanage a lot of losses. That's why I asked the teacher to punish her and reflect on her mistakes. Who knew this child would come out and act pitiful?"

Ouyang Ying smiled kindly and raised her voice: "Xiaoling, come out! Be obedient and go back with the teacher. If you make trouble again, I will be really angry."

It was clearly a compassionate face, but Lu An Ning actually saw some sinister and terrifying expressions in it.

Xiaoling, who was hiding behind him, shuddered and moved out from behind him woodenly, but her hands were still tightly grasping Lu Anning and she didn't let go. Ouyang Ying gave Xiaoling a look and she immediately lowered her head. Inadvertently, Lu Anning seemed to see the fear hidden in the child's eyes.

Before she could ask Xiaoling in detail, the two teachers had already forcibly dragged the child away. When they let go, Lu An Ning accidentally saw two faint purple marks on the child's exposed arm.

Lu An Ning wanted to catch up to see what was going on, but Ouyang Ying quickly blocked her way with her body. The two teachers dragged the girl away, covering her mouth.

"Dean, why do I see that child still has injuries on her arm? Are you sure she's okay?"

"It's okay. That kid is the best at lying. She painted those injuries herself. The teachers here are often fooled by her. The orphanage is so big, how could I possibly deceive you and Mr. Tang?"

Lu Anning was skeptical, and Ouyang Ying immediately changed the subject.

"Aren't you looking for the old dean? I really don't know much about your background. If you want to know, you can only go to him."

Lu Anning nodded thoughtfully. Tang Jingyuan had something urgent to do, so the others had to leave hastily. Ouyang Ying personally walked them to the door. When Lu Anning got in the car, he accidentally saw Ouyang Ying standing at the door, smiling and waving at them, and frowned.

"Why do I feel like the dean really wants us to leave?"

Tang Jingyuan smiled and let Lin Tao drive. After the car drove away, he spoke: "To be more precise, I hope you leave."

Lu Anning was confused, so Tang Jingyuan asked her again, "Did you find anything during your visit to the orphanage?"

Tang Jingyuan's words woke her up. She thought about it carefully, and shock gradually appeared in her eyes.

"The luxury cars in the parking lot, the lavish dean's office, and all those uniformly handsome male teachers. And the strangest thing is that little girl asking for help."

Thinking back to that face, Lu Anning always felt like he had seen it somewhere, but he couldn't remember where.

Lu Anning looked at Tang Jingyuan suspiciously: "You're not here just to do charity, are you? Is there something wrong with this orphanage?"

"Don't dare say anything without evidence. Aren't you going to see your old dean? I'll take you there!"

Tang Jingyuan's mysterious look made Lu Anning even more curious, and she didn't know what this man was secretly planning.

After arriving at the nursing home, Lu Anning bought some nutritional supplements to bring with her. The director was kind, and she was looking forward to chatting with him. However, when Lu Anning explained her purpose, the nurse impatiently pointed in a direction and left.

Lu Anning was a little unhappy. When she really arrived at the door of the room, a strong stench hit her in the face, mixed with the sour smell that had fermented in high temperature. It was so complicated that it was hard to describe. Suddenly, her stomach churned.

There was no one in the room, only a burst of cursing and the wailing of an old man could be heard coming from inside.

"You old fool, I told you to sit on the toilet and not leave, but you wouldn't listen. You pooped all over the room, and who's going to clean it up for you? Are you trying to tire me to death? Why don't you just go die!"

The female nurse cursed and pinched the old man's thigh with gritted teeth. The old man did not resist and cried out in pain, but this did not arouse the female nurse's sympathy at all, and she became even more cruel.

Lu Anning was so angry that he pulled the female nurse away and asked, "Who allowed you to abuse the elderly?"

Sitting on the toilet, the old dean could vaguely see what he looked like in the past, but his hair was gray and his eyes were dull. He had lost his former spirit and energy. Lu Anning's face was a little ugly. The old dean had been very kind to them before, but he didn't expect that he would become like this now.

The nurse said with dissatisfaction: "I abused him? Do you know that he has Alzheimer's disease and can't even control his bowel movements? He runs around everywhere and causes us so much more work. For a person like him, whoever wants to serve him can serve him. Why are you pretending to be a good person? If you have the ability, take him home and take care of him yourself. I won't serve him!"

Lu Anning was furious. The director's body was covered in pinch marks. Could it be fake? She had heard before that nursing homes took advantage of the elderly's lack of children to visit them and that the caregivers were lawless. She was skeptical, but today she had truly witnessed it.

"If you don't have that kind of patience, don't do this job! You think you're justified in abusing the elderly? I want to see your dean."
