On the way, Lu Anning remained silent, his eyes dimming considerably. Zhao Zheyan saw this and hesitated several times to speak.
When she arrived at the hospital, Lu Anning realized she had been taken to the City Center Hospital where Zhao Zheyan worked. His colleague was on duty in the emergency room that night. The nurse on duty stared at Zhao Zheyan, but when she saw Lu Anning, her eyes widened.
Lu Anning was placed in the debridement room and waited, while a nurse was making preparations.
The little girl curiously asked Lu Anning, "Is Miss Lu Dr. Zhao's girlfriend?"
"No, we are just high school classmates." Lu An Ning responded with a faint smile. The little girl breathed a sigh of relief when she heard it.
"Dr. Zhao is the most popular male doctor in our hospital. I thought you were his girlfriend! If that's true, the hearts of the single female doctors and nurses in our hospital will be broken."
"He's fine."
However, they will only be good friends.
Zhao Zheyan hurriedly finished the formalities and came back to see Lu Anning chatting with the nurse, and his complexion looked much better.
"What are you talking about?"
"Speaking of you, you have too many admirers. It seems that you are still as popular as you were in school."
The nurse was holding the document and was about to help Lu Anning treat the wound when Zhao Zheyan interrupted: "I'll do it!"
The nurse was stunned, then smiled and gave her seat to Zhao Zheyan. As she left, she looked at Lu Anning with envy. She had never seen Dr. Zhao care so much about anyone before. She was so envious!
This minor injury could have been handled by a nurse, but Zhao Zheyan was afraid that the nurse would be too rough and hurt Lu An Ning, so he felt more at ease doing it himself.
He carefully cleaned her wound. The glass had cut several holes in her palm, and there were very small glass shards in some places. She had been thinking about other things before, and only now did she feel the pain.
"It will be a little painful, just bear with it. The glass shards must be cleaned up. I'll try to be gentle."
Lu Anning nodded and let Zhao Zheyan help her treat the wound. The image of Tang Jingyuan and Ye Lingfei standing together appeared in her mind again. She kept reminding herself not to care, but she still couldn't control herself.
Many emotions piled up together, pain came from the palm of her hand, and her eyes suddenly turned red.
"It hurts?"
Lu Anning forced a smile, shook his head, but said nothing.
Zhao Zheyan sighed softly: "You care about your boss a lot, but there is already another woman standing next to him."
The atmosphere during their several encounters was somewhat strange. Zhao Zheyan was not stupid and guessed that there must be some kind of connection between Mr. Tang and Lu Anning. Seeing that she was unhappy, Zhao Zheyan wanted to comfort her but did not dare to speak.
Lu Anning looked up at him, his eyes slightly red, and his voice was a little hoarse when he spoke.
"That's my husband! Isn't that ridiculous?"
Zhao Zheyan's hand trembled, almost hurting Lu Anning. He froze, unable to believe what he heard.
After a while, he finally found his voice: "You... are married?"
But he saw that Lu Anning's hands were empty, without even a wedding ring, so how could they... get married!
"We got the marriage certificate when we severed ties with the Lu family. I don't want an arranged marriage."
Zhao Zheyan frowned. He had inquired about it and found out that at that time, Lu Anning seemed to be arranged to be engaged to Pei Yongsheng, the second-generation rich man who lived a life of debauchery every day.
"You're desperate..."
Lu An Ning forced a smile: "It's all in the past! You don't have to look at me like that. I'm doing fine now. I don't have to worry about food and clothing."
Zhao Zheyan felt a dull pain in his heart. Isn't having enough food and clothing the most basic requirement in life? He thought Lu Anning deserved better.
"He treats you badly?"
"I'm fine. Really!" Lu Anning smiled and patted Zhao Zheyan's arm: "I'm not as pitiful as you think. I'm doing well!"
Lu Anning recounted her wonderful and fulfilling life, but Zhao Zheyan listened, but he simply didn't believe her. She kept talking about her material life, but never mentioned her feelings. Zhao Zheyan also guessed a lot about her love life after marriage.
Why didn't he return home earlier!
The injury was healed, but Zhao Zheyan felt bitter inside.
After coming out of the hospital, Zhao Zheyan stopped talking. Lu Anning smiled faintly, her words had worked.
Deliberately tell him that you are married and let him know that you are living a good life. In this way, he will put away some inappropriate thoughts!
Zhao Zheyan was a good person, but she was already married. With the Lu family's mess behind her, she couldn't cause Zhao Zheyan any trouble. Maintaining their friendship was the only way to last.
The car stopped at the gate of the community, but Lu An Ning didn't let him in. At night, his bright eyes showed a hint of sadness. Lu An Ning kept her distance and said goodbye to Zhao Zheyan. As she arrived at the door, she saw the lights on in the house and was startled.
Tang Jingyuan actually came back earlier than himself!
In the living room, Tang Jingyuan sat on the sofa with an expressionless face, waiting for Lu An Ning to come back and question him.
As soon as Lu An Ning entered the room, his cold gaze fell on her bandaged right hand, and he frowned. Lu An Ning glanced at him. Too much had happened tonight, and she was already tired. She didn't want to entangle with Tang Jingyuan, so she walked straight to the stairs.
A cold voice stopped her: "Lu Anning, aren't you going to explain what happened today?"
Lu Anning stopped and looked back at him, smiling sarcastically: "Everyone has their own way, what do I need to explain?"
"Play?" Tang Jingyuan snorted coldly, took three or two steps forward and grabbed Lu Anning's wrist, his eyes blazing with anger: "You've played yourself like this! Lu Anning, you're in trouble, why didn't you tell me! I warned you to keep your distance from other men."
