Chapter 70 Is there anything else we can do?
The surroundings suddenly fell silent, with only the whistling of the wind remaining.
Sun Rongtao's gaze, filled with surprise and doubt, slowly rose. When he met those intensely imposing black eyes, his heart clenched, and he unconsciously took a small step back before forcing himself to stand still.
"Who are you?" he asked, raising his voice in a boastful tone.
Song Juelan's cold gaze swept over the man before him, finally meeting Sun Rongtao's flickering eyes.
"I'm Wen Zhi's boyfriend." He announced his identity calmly, almost emphasizing each word as if worried the other person might not hear him clearly. "You want to see me?"
Sun Rongtao's expression froze instantly. He stared intently at the tall boy in front of him, only then recognizing him as the junior who had recently become very popular on campus. He said in disbelief, "It's you..."
He didn't expect that Wen Zhi actually had a boyfriend, and that the other person was so outstanding, being a popular figure on campus as well.
In comparison, no matter how you look at it, I am just an ordinary person, and I look much inferior when I stand next to this person.
"I just... wanted to ask if he was interested in going together, that's all." Sun Rongtao's imposing manner immediately diminished, and his voice became softer.
"What do you mean 'no other meaning'?" Ding Mingjun grumbled from the side, his tone full of disdain. "Then why do you always buzz around Xiaozhi like a fly?"
Wen Zhi, completely blocked by Song Juelan's tall figure, glanced at Ding Mingjun with some annoyance.
That doesn't make sense. If Sun Rongtao is a fly, then what is the one being swarmed around?
Hearing Ding Mingjun's words, Song Juelan's expression turned even colder, and she became even less polite: "If my boyfriend is interested, I will naturally go with him. It's none of your business. If I see you in front of him again, things won't be so simple."
Although it sounded like just a scare warning, given Song Juelan's cold aura and tall stature, no one dared to disregard it.
Sun Rongtao's face was like a spilled palette, alternating between green and red, extremely unsightly. Even though he knew he couldn't afford to offend this person, being humiliated like this in front of everyone was unbearable, and he blurted out without thinking, "Is this how you talk to your senior? I don't think you're any better..."
"Hey, so I'm in the same year as you, does that mean I can insult you?" He Jin immediately rolled up his sleeves and almost spat in Sun Rongtao's face.
The classmates who came out to eat with Sun Rongtao were shocked to learn that Wen Zhi and Song Juelan were dating, and they were stunned for a long time.
Only now did they realize what was happening, their eyes filled with obvious disgust as they looked at Sun Rongtao, as if they felt ashamed, and they all started shouting:
"Forget it, Sun Rongtao, you were in the wrong in the first place."
"She's already told you she has a boyfriend, why do you keep trying to get close to her? Why are you bothering her?"
"Just apologize already, don't waste time here."
Sun Rongtao's face turned a deep purplish-red. Under the gazes of those who were either disgusted or indifferent, a surge of intense shame and indignation welled up inside him. In the end, he could only reluctantly squeeze out a few words through gritted teeth: "I'm sorry, I... won't bother him anymore."
He Jin immediately beamed and said in a lighthearted tone, "Wouldn't it have been better to do this earlier? Why did you have to make a fool of yourself?"
Before anyone else could say anything, Sun Rongtao could no longer bear the awkward situation. He slunk away with his head down, quickly walking past them.
Wen Zhi watched the hurried departure of that figure, feeling a sense of novelty in her heart.
I never thought having a boyfriend would have this effect; it solved the problem that had been bothering him for so long in one go.
Having just enjoyed a hearty meal and successfully resolved a problem, the group was in high spirits, chatting and laughing as they walked towards the school.
Song Juelan naturally took Wen Zhi's hand, holding his fair fingers in her palm, and asked casually, "How long has that person been bothering you?"
He also vaguely remembered Sun Rongtao's voice; that voice had appeared when he played games with Wen Zhi during the summer vacation.
Wen Zhi lowered her head and thought for a moment: "It hasn't been long... it started last semester. He lived in the dorm next to mine, so we saw each other all the time."
Sun Rongtao used to be normal, but after being rejected when he confessed his feelings to him last semester, he became a persistent ghost, always intentionally or unintentionally hanging around in front of him, almost wearing his intentions on his face.
Song Juelan's tone was slightly cold: "If he dares to show up again, I'll come up and teach him a lesson."
Wen Zhi's lips curved slightly as she recalled that Song Juelan had mentioned last time that he would come up and help him catch spiders.
Does this person think they're the dorm supervisor?
When He Jin and his two companions, who were walking ahead, turned around, they saw the young couple behind them holding hands intimately, occasionally leaning their heads together to whisper secrets.
They felt a pang of toothache, then silently turned their heads back to admire the scenery along the roadside.
"Hey, isn't that Little Yellow?" Ding Mingjun caught a glimpse of a round shadow out of the corner of his eye, which nimbly leaped out from the nearby grove of trees.
He Jin also turned his head to look, craning his neck: "It really is!"
Little Yellow, with its fluffy head held high and its two ears, one yellow and one white, standing out conspicuously, swaggered past them without even sparing them a glance. It was the same cat that Wen Zhi had photographed before.
They had previously discussed in their dorm whether to name the cat Xiao Huang or Xiao Bai, but Wen Zhi felt that Xiao Bai sounded more like a dog's name, so they finally decided to name it Xiao Huang.
The other three roommates had privately joked that Xiao Huang sounded more like a dog's name, but no one mentioned it to Wen Zhi.
"Little Huang!" Wen Zhi's delighted voice came from behind.
They turned around and saw the fat cat that had ignored them earlier now lying down at Wen Zhi's feet, its chin resting affectionately on Wen Zhi's shoe, looking as if it were worthless.
Xiao Huang is known for not being affectionate, but when he sees Wen Zhi, he becomes very proactive, often affectionately rubbing his trouser legs until they are covered in cat hair.
Sometimes they even suspect that Xiao Huang might also be a hopeless looks-obsessed person.
Wen Zhi squatted down by the roadside and gently scratched Xiao Huang's chin with his slender fingers. Xiao Huang immediately squinted his eyes comfortably, made a loud purring sound, and rubbed his head against Wen Zhi's wrist.
He Jin and the other two also turned back, and while Xiao Huang was dizzy and unprepared because of Wen Zhi, they quickly reached out and touched its shiny fur a few times.
Standing to the side, Song Juelan paused slightly, his gaze falling on the impressive ears, recognizing the cat as the previous "great hero".
If it weren't for this distinctive cat, he wouldn't have been able to discover Wen Zhi on campus so quickly. He probably would have been searching aimlessly for another month or two before finding her.
He crouched down beside Wen Zhi, extended his large, well-defined hand, and gently stroked the tip of Xiao Huang's tail, casually asking, "Does it have a name?"
"Yes, it's just the name we gave it; only we call it that," Wen Zhi explained earnestly.
Song Juelan was initially looking at Xiao Huang's unique ears, but gradually her gaze was drawn to Wen Zhi's hand, which was stroking the cat's belly.
Those fingers were long and slender, with a faint pink tinge at the knuckles. They were gently bending and scratching Little Yellow's soft belly with tender movements.
He stared intently at the beautiful hand, his mind involuntarily conjuring images of that hand placed elsewhere, and subtly pursed his slightly dry lips.
Suddenly, the fat cat, which had been lying comfortably on the ground, sprang up nimbly and meowed at Song Juelan in dissatisfaction.
It turned out that Song Juelan's big hand, which was originally touching the tip of the tail, accidentally touched Xiao Huang's butt because he was absent-minded.
Just when the group thought Xiao Huang was going to get angry, it only barked warningly, then lazily lay back down at Wen Zhi's feet, even placing the tip of its tail in Song Juelan's palm.
He Jin and the others shared the same sentiment.
As expected, she's a cat obsessed with looks.
After the group had finally petted the cat to their hearts' content, they set off together to return to their dormitory.
Their dormitories are on the lower floors, so they usually take the stairs instead of squeezing into the elevator with others, sometimes even faster than waiting in line for the elevator.
As soon as they reached the third-floor stairwell, He Jin and the other two turned around and found that Wen Zhi and Song Juelan, who had been following behind them, were gone.
The three exchanged glances, each seeing a sense of familiarity in the other's eyes.
In just a few days, they had gotten used to Wen Zhi being easily abducted by "vixens".
In the deserted stairwell, Wen Zhi was cornered against the wall, her cheeks gently pinched by a large, hot hand, and her soft lips captured by the other person's lowered head, sucked and bitten.
His breathing was completely disrupted, his mouth was instantly filled with Song Juelan's domineering aura, and a familiar numbness came from the root of his tongue, as if it no longer belonged to him.
Only when he had almost no oxygen left in his lungs did Song Juelan reluctantly release him, loosening his grip on his cheeks and instead putting his arm around his slightly weak waist.
Wen Zhi took a few quick breaths, her racing heart still pounding. She raised the back of her hand to wipe away the suspicious moisture from her lips, somewhat bewildered by Song Juelan's fervor for kissing.
"Why are you here again..." He touched his burning lips with his cool fingertips, having lost count of how many times they had kissed in the short few days since their reunion.
Song Juelan held him tightly around the waist, her high nose almost touching his cheek, and asked in confusion, "Is my kissing skill bad?"
Wen Zhi's legs were still weak, so she dared not say no. Her eyes darted around, and she replied softly, "...Okay."
Song Juelan pressed on, "Better than others?"
Where did these other people come from?
Wen Zhi was stunned for a moment, then met those dark eyes that flashed with malice, and realized that Song Juelan was deliberately teasing him.
She's probably still holding a grudge about him comparing her kissing skills to someone who doesn't even exist, and she's being petty and holding a grudge to this day.
"..." Wen Zhi paused for a moment, then coaxed a child in a soft voice, "Yes, yours is the best."
If he hadn't personally celebrated Song Juelan's eighteenth birthday with him, he would have seriously doubted whether this childish person had even reached adulthood.
As a reward, Song Juelan quickly kissed him on the lips.
Wen Zhi raised her moist eyes and asked with some curiosity, "Why...do you like kissing so much?" It's like you'll never get tired of it.
Song Juelan's expression hardened slightly, as if he was thinking about the question, and then asked seriously.
"What else can we do together at school?"
