Chapter 79 I Want to Kiss You
That startling childish remark echoed throughout the large living room.
The couple's minds went blank for a moment, their ears rang, and their vision even went black for a second.
Just as Wen Lexian was filled with shock and anger, his blood boiling, and he almost grabbed the wine bottle on the dining table, voices came from the direction of the living room.
"Stop teasing Xiaotang!" Wen Zhi's ears turned bright red, and she covered Song Juelan's lower face with her fair hand, silencing his nonsensical mouth.
A moist, tingling sensation came from his palm. Song Juelan looked at him with a half-smile in his dark eyes, as if admiring his flushed face.
Xiao Tang lay on Wen Zhi's lap, grinning from ear to ear, still immersed in the joy of having a little sister as a playmate.
Seeing the three of them playing around, the couple's tense nerves suddenly relaxed, and they realized that it was just a joke.
They both breathed a heavy sigh of relief, and their frozen blood began to flow again.
Wen Lexian clutched his chest; he had been frightened countless times in a single day, and his heart was truly struggling to take it.
He adjusted his facial expression, trying to look as calm and natural as possible, before walking towards the living room.
Footsteps approached, and the three people on the sofa all looked up.
Song Juelan quickly suppressed the playful smile on his lips, stood up from the sofa, and politely nodded slightly to the visitor: "Uncle, hello."
Wen Lexian calmly observed the young man in front of him. He did look quite young, but he had a calm demeanor and upright posture, giving people a sense of reliability.
His first impression of Song Juelan was quite good, and he gave a friendly smile: "Don't stand, sit down, lunch will be ready soon."
He needed to go downstairs to buy coconut milk for the three children, so he didn't linger in the living room. He changed his shoes in the entryway and went downstairs.
Song Juelan stood still, her gaze still fixed on the entrance.
"What are you thinking about?" Wen Zhi reached out and hooked his fingers hanging at his side, looking up at him as she asked.
Song Juelan sat down with his help, her gaze returning to the beautiful face before her. She paused, then leaned down and whispered in Wen Zhi's ear, "I was thinking... Xiao Tang's real father looks like this."
"..." Wen Zhi's face instantly turned bright red. She pursed her soft lips again and again, finally managing to utter only one sentence, "Can we not talk about that anymore?"
Because he was in the wrong, he spoke without much confidence, his voice so soft it was almost like a child's whine.
Song Juelan smiled contentedly: "Mm."
Xiao Tang watched the two whispering to each other with longing eyes, straining her little ears, but still couldn't hear a single word.
Not long after, Rong Rui called them to eat from the restaurant, and Wen Lexian, who had gone downstairs to buy coconut milk, returned just then.
The two immediately got up. Song Juelan went to the kitchen to help serve the dishes, while Wen Zhi took Xiao Tang to wash her hands.
The already lively home became even more bustling with the addition of another person. The five of them sat down at the dining table, where a sumptuous spread of dishes steamed with heat.
Song Juelan received the same treatment as Wen Zhi and Xiao Tang, with a glass of coconut milk next to her. The red wine that had been placed on the table earlier had been put away untouched.
The atmosphere at the dinner table was warm and harmonious. Mr. and Mrs. Wen warmly urged Song Juelan to eat more, and their faces lit up with smiles when Song Juelan praised their cooking skills.
The brief conversation during the meal made the two of them have a better impression of this young man, and they looked at Song Juelan almost like they were looking at their own son.
After lunch, Song Juelan went to the kitchen to help clean up the dishes, sat on the sofa for a while, and then got up to say goodbye.
Seeing this, Wen Zhi put down the half-peeled orange in her hand and stood up, saying, "Let me take you downstairs."
Rong Rui saw them to the door, looking at the two standing together with a loving smile: "Bring Xiao Song to our house more often in the future."
Although she was very satisfied with Song Juelan, she was also aware that the two of them were too young and there were too many variables in the future, so she did not take this relationship too seriously.
However, having such a reliable partner by her side made Wen Zhi feel much more at ease.
“Okay.” Wen Zhi obediently replied and pulled Song Juelan into the open elevator door.
Once downstairs, he turned to look at Song Juelan beside him and said in a relaxed tone, "My parents seem to like you quite a bit."
Song Juelan's brows furrowed slightly, still not completely at ease: "But they didn't ask me much about my situation."
He made a lot of preparations before he came. Under normal circumstances, Wen Zhi's parents would ask him about his family situation, future plans, and so on, but these questions did not come up.
"It's too early." Wen Zhi smiled and poked Song Juelan's shoulder with her index finger. "They probably think you're not old enough to get married yet."
During dinner just now, his parents practically wanted Song Juelan to sit at the children's table with Xiao Tang.
Song Juelan gently pursed her lips, took that slender white finger into her palm, and held it tightly.
"By the way, what about your parents? Have they said they want to see me?" Wen Zhi suddenly remembered something and her expression became more serious.
Song Juelan lowered her eyelids: "They have been busy with business abroad for the past two years and only came back for the Spring Festival. I have already told them about you."
He paused, then added, "However, if you want to see them, I can arrange for them to come back when they have some free time."
“No need…!” Wen Zhi quickly waved her hand, not daring to make Song Juelan’s parents make this special trip. “Let’s talk about it during the Spring Festival.”
Song Juelan glanced at him with a smile and said, "Okay."
The two walked hand in hand along the tree-lined path in the residential area. Wen Zhi escorted Song Juelan to the entrance of the complex before stopping to say goodbye.
Walking home, Wen Zhi was still thinking that he would be spending the holiday at home with Xiao Tang, and he probably wouldn't see Song Juelan for a while. Unlike at school, where they had the chance to see each other every day.
Thinking about it this way, I felt a little disappointed.
The next morning, Wen Zhi was once again locked onto by a familiar, burning gaze, silently and persistently watching him.
Without even opening his eyes, he knew that Xiao Tang was waiting for him to get up again. He twitched his fingertips on the blanket and struggled to wake up from his dream, his long eyelashes lifting a crack.
"Hmm... Good morning, Xiao Tang." He greeted the little dumpling who was guarding the bedside.
"Zhizhi!" Xiaotang rushed up to him excitedly, telling him, "Brother Juelan is waiting for us downstairs!"
This abrupt remark instantly snapped Wen Zhi back to reality. Her half-closed eyes snapped open, revealing a hint of confusion: "What?"
Xiao Tang's smartwatch was still lit up, displaying a chat interface with someone.
Wen Zhi hesitated for a moment, then reached out and tapped the last voice message. Song Juelan's deep, magnetic voice immediately came through.
"Tell Zhizhi when she wakes up that I'll be waiting for you downstairs."
Wen Zhi blinked her hazy eyes and looked blankly at Xiao Tang, who was beaming with excitement: "Where are we going...?"
His voice still carried a strong sense of drowsiness, as he curled up in the soft blankets, unwilling to move, and yawned slightly as he spoke.
Although he also wanted to see Song Juelan, he would have preferred Song Juelan to come upstairs and sleep in bed with him instead of asking him to go out early in the morning.
"Amusement park!" Xiaotang jumped up and down excitedly, her voice full of anticipation.
Wen Zhi's long, damp eyelashes suddenly lifted, her interest piqued.
This seems interesting.
Twenty minutes later, Wen Zhi changed her clothes, quickly ate a chocolate waffle, told her parents that she was taking Xiao Tang out to play, and then took Xiao Tang out the door.
As soon as I stepped out of the building, I saw Song Juelan sitting on a bench next to the flower bed, relaxed with her long legs crossed, looking down at her phone.
Wen Zhi tiptoed over, intending to approach Song Juelan from behind and startle him. Before she could get close, the other man keenly raised his head and locked his gaze on her instantly.
His plan had been exposed, so he had no choice but to give up. He quickened his pace and walked over, giving Song Juelan a sweet smile: "How long have you been waiting here?"
A look of surprise flashed across Song Juelan's eyes as she stared intently at the person who had appeared before her.
Today, Wenzhi seemed to be dressed in a particularly youthful style to match the atmosphere of the amusement park.
A light mint green sun-protective shirt is worn over a white shirt, and the cuffs of light blue jeans are rolled up slightly to reveal a section of fair ankles. The whole outfit is a refreshing and lively combination of candy colors.
Those bright eyes that looked at him seemed even brighter than usual.
Song Juelan's eyes darkened imperceptibly as he secretly cracked his knuckles.
It's so beautiful, I want to hide it away.
"We didn't have to wait long." Song Juelan stood up, reached out and took Wen Zhi's hand. "Let's go."
Today, Xiao Tang was also dressed up by Wen Zhi as a little candy. She wore a milky white top with cherry blossom pink athletic shorts, bright yellow sneakers that Song Juelan had given her before, and a small fisherman's hat of the same color on her head.
He held Wen Zhi's other hand, humming a tuneless children's song happily, and skipping every two steps.
A black car was parked on the side of the road at the entrance of the residential area. After they got out, the driver who was waiting next to them immediately opened the back door for them.
Xiao Tang climbed up first, using both hands and feet, followed by Wen Zhi who got into the car. Song Juelan got in last and closed the door.
"Let's go!" Xiao Tang raised her short little arms and cheered.
The car started smoothly and headed towards the amusement park.
Wen Zhi squeezed the large hand that was still holding his, her eyes sparkling as she asked, "Why did you suddenly decide to go to the amusement park?"
Song Juelan's gaze fell on his face, with a hint of a smile: "Because I think you and Xiaotang will both like it."
"You guessed pretty accurately." Wen Zhi's lips curled up.
Song Juelan put her arm around his shoulder and whispered, "We're not there yet. If you're sleepy, go back to sleep."
Wen Zhi softly hummed in agreement, then unceremoniously rested her head on Song Juelan's shoulder and closed her eyes to catch up on some sleep.
Half an hour later, the car came to a smooth stop on the side of the road.
Wen Zhi woke up at that moment, and looked out the car window in a daze, where the grand gate of the amusement park came into view.
His eyes slowly widened, and his mouth opened slightly.
This is an amusement park that just opened in the city not long ago, and it quickly became a hit online. With the recent holiday, tickets are extremely hard to come by.
Wen Zhi pressed her face against the car window, gazing longingly at the bustling scene outside for a while before turning her head and asking the composed Song Juelan beside her uncertainly, "Do you have a ticket?"
Song Juelan was surprised by his question, and her lips twitched slightly: "Of course."
Wen Zhi then beamed with delight, snuggled up to hug him, and then eagerly led Xiao Tang out of the car.
The embrace was too brief. Song Juelan had only raised his arm halfway when he watched helplessly as Wen Zhi slipped away from his arms like a gust of wind, leaving only a faint fragrance on him.
His arm paused in mid-air before falling down. He pursed his thin lips, pushed open the other car door, and got out.
As expected, Song Juelan did not lie. He led Wen Zhi and Xiao Tang to the less crowded VIP passage and entered the amusement park without any hindrance.
Laughter and cheers instantly engulfed the three of them. Staff members dressed in adorable mascot costumes waved their fluffy hands enthusiastically, while a thrilling roller coaster roared past in the distance, and the screams of tourists could be faintly heard.
Wen Zhi and Xiao Tang, who was holding hands, looked around in unison, their faces beaming with bright smiles as they greeted the staff waving around them.
They walked up to a wooden sign with a map of the park and whispered about their route, finally deciding to start with the nearest Spinning Teacups.
The three of them held hands and walked towards the spinning teacup.
Along the way, they attracted almost 100% of the attention, with many tourists drawn to the stunningly good-looking "family of three" and frequently casting admiring glances at them.
After weaving through the bustling crowd, they arrived at the entrance to the rotating teacups and quickly entered the project site through the VIP passage.
Colorful teacups are arranged on a huge disc, each cup can hold three to four people.
Xiao Tang immediately took a liking to a pink teacup and happily ran over. Wen Zhi sat down next to Xiao Tang, and Song Jue Lan, who came up last, sat down next to Wen Zhi and closed the teacup door behind him.
Once all the tourists were seated in their respective teacups, the large rotating platform below slowly started to spin, gradually increasing in speed.
Most of the people at this event were couples or families of three. After the teacups started spinning, some couples around were posing for photos, while others were taking advantage of the romantic atmosphere to secretly kiss.
Song Juelan recalled the unfinished hug in the car earlier, and his gaze fell heavily on Wen Zhi beside him.
Wen Zhi was teaching Xiao Tang how to spin the small turntable in the middle of the teacup. That was used to control the speed of the teacup's rotation. Since they had a child with them, he only let the teacup spin slowly a few times.
As soon as she raised her head, she was caught off guard and met Song Juelan's dark eyes, which seemed to be filled with stubbornness and dissatisfaction.
"What's wrong?" Wen Zhi asked in a light tone, somewhat puzzled by his direct gaze.
Song Juelan said bluntly, "I want to kiss you."
Wen Zhi's sweet smile faltered slightly, her long eyelashes blinked rapidly, and she neither agreed nor disagreed, glancing to the side before stammering, "Xiao Tang is still here..."
Before the words were finished, Xiao Tang suddenly exclaimed "Ya!" in a slightly bewildered, childlike voice.
A large, well-defined hand gently covered Xiao Tang's round, chubby face, obscuring her bright eyes.
Song Juelan leaned forward slightly, his handsome face rapidly magnifying in Wen Zhi's narrowed pupils, and his cool, thin lips covered hers without warning.
