It has been more than three months since they left the house, and they are eager to return home.
The next day, I packed up my things, vacated the yard, and set off on my way home.
The weather was bad during that period. We would encounter a heavy rain not far away. We stopped and walked along the way, and it was eight days later when we got home.
It was already evening when we entered the village, and it was raining heavily. Most of the houses in the village were closed, and only a few heard the sound of the carriage and came out to check, only to find that it was Tian An and the others who had returned.
As soon as they arrived home and hadn't even sat down, the village chief, clan leader, elders, and headmen came to their door.
When Chunxi came to report, Tian An was changing clothes. Listening to the rain still falling outside the window, she asked Chunxi to ask someone to make some ginger tea, and then she quickly packed up and rushed to the main hall.
When the elders in the main hall saw Tian An coming, they hurried forward and asked expectantly, "An An girl, how is it? Did you pass the exam?"
"He passed the exam. Brother Yiming ranked sixth!" Tian An said with a smile.
"Sixth place? Is it really sixth place? Girl, are you sure you said it right and I heard it right?" The village chief was a little unbelieving.
"I'm not wrong, and you heard it right. She is really sixth. I saw it with my own eyes. Wendie is still with Brother Yiming!" Tian An said affirmatively.
The village chief slapped his thigh excitedly and said, "Well done! You are worthy of being from Shangba Village."
"Yes! The sixth place is a freshman! Good boy, you really bring honor to our village!" said the head of the village.
"This is the first scholar in the surrounding villages!" The clan leader was so excited that tears were about to come out.
"Yes! The first one! From our village." The elder was a little arrogant, his eyes almost smiling with joy.
"Hey! Where is Yiming? Why can't we see Yiming?" The village chief and others finally realized that they had been there for so long but had not seen Zhao Yiming.
Just then, Chunxi brought people in with ginger tea. Tian An hurriedly invited several elders to drink ginger tea, "Brother Yiming just came back and was pulled into the study by Mr. Han for questioning. He may not come out for a while.
I asked someone to prepare some ginger tea. Grandpa and uncles came here in the rain, so they must be a little cold. Please drink some ginger tea to warm your bodies and drive away the cold."
The village chief took a big sip of ginger tea, exhaled a breath of hot air, and then said, "An An is really thoughtful! Even though you're wearing a raincoat, there's still some rain on your body. If you're not careful, you could easily catch a cold."
The clan leader also said: "Yes! Drink a bowl of ginger tea, and you will feel much warmer."
The village head took over and said, "The weather this year is really weird. When the sun comes out, it's the dog days of summer, and when it rains, it's like the coldest month of winter. If you're not careful, you'll catch a cold."
"Who says it isn't? And there's been way too much rain this year. The crops in the fields are really waterlogged!"
When it came to the farmland, everyone started discussing it. Tian An had just returned and didn't know what was going on, so he sat aside and listened, occasionally asking a question. He had pretty much understood the situation on the farmland.
Zhao Yiming and Mr. Han didn't come out of the study until dinner was served. Mr. Han was smiling, and he must be very satisfied with Zhao Yiming's test results!
The village chief and his group stayed for dinner. Tian An couldn't sit at the same table with Zhao Yiming and his group, so he took Grandma Qin, Xiaokang and Xiaoqi to another table.
Xiaokang hadn't seen Tian An for a long time, and at the moment he was clinging to her very much. He insisted on sitting on a bench next to Tian An, "Sister has been away for three months, leaving Xiaoqi and me at home. We missed you and brother-in-law Yiming so much."
Tian An patted his head and patiently explained, "Sister misses you too. We were supposed to come back after your brother Yiming finished the provincial exam, but unfortunately the weather was bad. We were afraid we wouldn't be able to make it back in time for the academy exam, so we didn't come back."
Xiaokang felt a little aggrieved. "Sister, can you take Xiaoqi and me with you next time you go on a long trip? We promise to be obedient."
Without waiting for Tian An to speak, Xiao Qi, who was sitting on a bench nearby, quickly assured him, "I will definitely be obedient and won't cause any trouble for Sister An An."
Looking at Xiaoqi sitting alone on the bench, Tian An felt a little distressed, so he waved at him, motioning him to come over.
Xiaoqi's eyes lit up and she quickly ran to the other side of Tian An. The three siblings sat together on a bench.
Granny Qin looked at the three siblings who loved each other so much, and her heart was filled with warmth. "If Xun'er had a child, he would be as cute as this!"
Putting his thoughts aside, he reached out and picked up a chicken leg and gave it to Tian An. "You've been out for a few months and you've lost a lot of weight. Come on, eat a chicken leg to replenish your body."
Xiaokang followed suit and took the other chicken leg from Tian An's bowl with his chopsticks. "Mother-in-law is right. Sister, hurry up and make up for it."
Seeing that there were no chicken legs on the table, Xiaoqi could only pick up a piece of braised pork, "Sister An An, eat meat."
Tian An felt so soft-hearted when he saw the two well-behaved, sensible and caring little boys.
I gave each of them a chicken leg from the bowl and said, "You guys eat the chicken legs. I like chicken feet, which are also called money claws. Eating them can help you make more money."
"Sister, you already make a lot of money, why do you want to make more money?" Xiaokang asked in confusion.
"How did Xiaokang know that his sister made a lot of money?" Tian An's first reaction was that someone told Xiaokang something.
Fortunately, it is not.
Xiaokang pointed at the chicken drumstick in the bowl and said, "Before, we could only drink coarse noodle porridge, but now we can eat chicken drumsticks and fragrant rice."
She raised her hand to show Tian An her clothes, "I only had one piece of clothing before, and it was small and torn, but now I have a lot of nice and comfortable clothes. I can still go to school, and our family has built a new house. These are all because of my sister's hard work."
