Chapter 220 Run

The mountain torrents mixed with mud and rocks roared like a group of frightened wild horses, galloping towards them, covering the sky and the earth, unstoppable, as if they were going to swallow everything.

In the blink of an eye, half of the village was submerged. People who had just reached the end of the village were instantly frightened and stood there motionless.

Seeing this, Zhao Yiming shouted, "Run!"

This sound finally brought them back to their senses. They turned around and ran up the mountain for their lives.

Unfortunately, the muddy road was slippery on rainy days, and had been walked on by so many people. The more anxious those people were, the slower they ran. Some of them accidentally fell to the ground and could not get up for a long time. In an instant, they were swallowed up by the surging mountain torrent.

Zhao Yiming turned around and saw Tian An still standing there in a daze, so he hurried forward and pulled her away.

When Zhao Yiming pulled him, Tian An reacted quickly, and the feeling in his legs returned. He started running after him.

The two of them ran up the mountain at high speed in the wind and rain. Tian An felt that this was probably the fastest she had ever run in her life and the previous one combined. Even her hair, which had been wet and attached to her scalp for a long time, flew up and stretched back in a straight line.

Zhao Yiming looked back at the mountain torrent behind him, increased his speed a bit, and tightened his grip on Tian An's hand.

Tian An didn't dare to look back, for fear that her legs would go weak if she did, so she could only use all her strength to run after Zhao Yiming.

Halfway up the mountain, Xiaokang, Xiaoqi, and everyone else could be heard shouting anxiously, "Sister, hurry up!"

"Daniu, An'an, faster, faster!"

“Hurry up!”

Zhao Yiming frowned and exerted force with his hands. Tian An felt his feet leave the ground. He stepped on a large rock to gain leverage and suddenly leaped forward. When they landed, they just brushed past the flash flood.

Zhao Yiming pulled Tian An and ran to the middle of the mountain in one breath, and only stopped when they were completely safe.

As soon as they stopped, their legs gave out and they almost fell into the mud. Fortunately, Deng Xue and Liu Hui supported them in time, otherwise they would have been covered in mud.

When Xiaokang and Xiaoqi saw that the two had finally returned, they hurried forward and hugged one of them, fearing that they would leave again. God knows how scared they were after seeing the two almost being swallowed by the flood.

Whenever they thought of their uncles and aunts who were washed away by the mountain torrents, they felt a pang of fear, their bodies trembled uncontrollably, and they held the two of them even tighter.

Tian An knew that her two younger brothers were terrified. Not only did they feel scared, but she herself was also frightened. She quickly hugged them and comforted them for a long time. The two little guys finally felt better, but they refused to let go no matter what.

When everyone looked down from the mountain, they saw that the village was now a vast ocean, and even the top of the tallest granary built by Tian An's family was no longer visible.

"It's God's will to kill us!"

"Why doesn't God give me a way to live?"

Everyone collapsed and knelt on the ground crying.

Some women even wanted to rush down the mountain and dive into the flood to die.

"Master, you are so cruel! You are leaving like this, leaving us orphans and widows behind. How are we going to survive? Why don't you take me with you?"

Seeing that she wanted to commit suicide, the people beside her hurriedly pulled her back, "Shunzi's mother, please accept my condolences! Shunzi is still young, he already has no father, and he can't live without you anymore!"

"Yes! For the sake of the child, you have to hold on!"

Shunzi also cried and hugged his mother, "Mom, please don't leave me!"

Shunzi's mother looked at Shunzi, who was crying breathlessly, and her heart ached. She hugged him and said, "Don't cry, Shunzi. Mother won't abandon you. Your father is gone, and from now on, it will be us, mother and son, who will depend on each other."

Looking at this scene, everyone wiped away their tears with sadness, but their tears mixed with rain, and in the end no one could tell whether it was rain or tears.

Zhao Yiming rested for a moment, then turned around and noticed Tian An, who was soaking wet with her clothes sticking to her. He frowned and took off his coat to put it on her.

Tian An was stunned. It was all wet, so what difference would it make whether he wore it or not? It would only add weight. He was about to say "No thanks".

Zhao Yiming looked at her with a complicated expression. Tian An felt a little guilty, so she lowered her head and said nothing, letting him put on her clothes.

Zhao Yiming helped Tian An put on her clothes, looked at her again, and said, "I'll go find the village chief." Before Tian An could say anything, he turned around and left.

Tian An breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a little lonely. "He's hiding from me! What does he think of me?"

When Zhao Yiming returned, he began to count the number of people. Fortunately, they had left early and no one was left behind. After counting the number of people, Zhao Yiming led everyone to continue walking up the mountain.

It was not until noon that they found a cave where they could take shelter temporarily.

When they found the cave, Zhao Yiming first took a few men from the village to check it out, and only took everyone in after making sure there was no danger.

The cave is very hidden and no one knows how it was formed. The entrance is not big, but there is a different world inside. It can barely accommodate so many people.

But everyone is wet now. If we don’t dry our clothes quickly, we will be finished if we catch a cold.

Fortunately, there were some dry branches in the cave, so the men gathered them and piled them in the middle to make a fire for everyone to keep warm. However, everyone's flints were either gone, had been lost on the way up the mountain, or had been soaked by rain and could not be used.

In the end, Tian An took out one from his bag. Zhao Yiming took the flint handed to him by Tian An and successfully lit the firewood.

Touching the dry flint in his hand without a trace of moisture, Zhao Yiming looked thoughtfully at the shoulder bag next to Tian An that had already been soaked.

There wasn't much firewood in the cave, only enough to burn for two hours at most, so Zhao Yiming took the men in the village out to collect firewood.

There was no shortage of firewood in the mountains, but the rain had already soaked it. The people could only place the firewood they collected outside the fire, using the fire to dry it out. Once the wet firewood was dry, they could put it back in to burn. This method provided a continuous supply of dry firewood.

When Zhao Yiming went out, Tian An had secretly taken out a pill to prevent colds from the space and let everyone around him take one.

After Zhao Yiming came back, she had no choice but to take out a cold medicine from her bag and give it to him in front of him. Zhao Yiming took the pill and swallowed it in one gulp without hesitation. She looked at Qiu Shan and the others again and asked Tian An if he had any more.

Tian An nodded and took out a bottle from his bag and gave it to him.

Zhao Yiming took the medicine bottle and asked Tian An if he had any more.

Tian An hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Just as he was about to give him another bottle, he was stopped by him. "No need to take it, just put it away yourself."

After saying that, he walked towards Akiyama and the others.
