Chapter 288: Apologizing

Because Tian Mingwu had just returned from work and had to recognize his son and daughter, the emperor specially granted him a few days off.

Now that his daughter and son had been recognized, he naturally had to start working. When Tian An woke up, he was already gone. He didn't care when Chun Xi said he had brought sandwiches and hot porridge to eat on the way.

Chen Qiang was quite efficient. The people he had arranged to repair the mansion and shop arrived early in the morning. Some of them were former villagers: Qiushan, Dashu, and Xiaofeng all showed up, along with some uncles who happened to be free, and many aunts who came to help with the cleaning.

There were also some people from the Wounded Village. Although they were physically disabled, they worked just as well as Akiyama and the others.

There happened to be a middle-aged man there. His family used to be carpenters, a skill passed down from their ancestors. Later, he went out to serve in the military and injured his leg. When he returned, he found out that his family was gone, so he lived in the village for the wounded.

After seeing his craftsmanship, Chen Qiang confidently handed over all the cabinets assigned by Tian An to him. The next day after he received the task, he followed everyone to measure the size of the cabinets.

When everyone arrived, they found out that the work was to be done at the General's Mansion. They were also wondering why Chen Qiang was in charge of the work at the General's Mansion. After asking, they found out that the general was Tian An's father.

Ah Bing said excitedly, "So Miss An An is our eldest daughter."

The people in the Wounded Soldiers Village were instantly in an uproar: "No wonder Miss An An is so kind-hearted, she turns out to be the general's daughter! Like father, like daughter!"

"Great! The general finally found his daughter! Good deeds will be rewarded!"

The uncles and aunts were stunned for a long time before they realized that Tian An’s father was Tian Mingwu.

"Mingwu is not dead? Mingwu has become a general?"

It was great that a high-ranking official had emerged in their village. The uncles and aunts were so happy that they didn’t know what to say, and the aunts were even more happy for Tian An.

While wiping away tears, she said, "That's great. These two children have finally made it. They will have a good life from now on."

Everyone was happy and excited, but there was only one person with a gloomy expression. He had a face full of regret, guilt and other mixed emotions, and he couldn't say a word. He was out of tune with the crowd. Unfortunately, everyone was so busy being happy that no one noticed him at all.

They hadn't seen Tian Mingwu for years, and when they heard he had returned and become a general, they all wanted to meet him. Unfortunately, Chen Qiang said he had gone to work early in the morning, so they had to wait until he got back to see if he had time to meet them.

Ever since they knew the General's Mansion belonged to Tian Mingwu, everyone worked harder. Plus, with so many people involved, they cleared most of the weeds in the mansion and cleaned up two areas of the yard in just one day.

Chen Qiang told Tian An that everyone wanted to meet Tian Mingwu. When Tian Mingwu came back in the evening, Tian An asked him if he wanted to go and meet him.

He agreed without much thought and went to the general's mansion after dinner.

Because the farm was far away and it was inconvenient to travel back and forth, Tian An asked Chen Qiang to prepare quilts, and everyone temporarily lived in the general's mansion while they worked.

Even though Tian Mingwu didn't remember what happened in the past, he still had a good chat with everyone. He asked a lot about Tian An's siblings, and also got a general understanding of what happened during the time he was away.

Everyone gathered together in the house, and the atmosphere was very good. Outside the house, a man in a single layer of clothes raised his hands above his head, holding a wooden stick as thick as his wrist. He knelt in the snow, shivering all over with cold.

Seeing that it was getting late and curfew would come if he stayed any later, Tian Mingwu had to hurry back to Donglin Street, so everyone stood up to see him off.

When the group went out, they found that Tian Mingcai had been kneeling in the yard without them noticing.

Seeing everyone coming out, Tian Mingcai spotted Tian Mingwu walking in the crowd at a glance, and said in a trembling voice: "Brother, I'm sorry for you. I came here to apologize. Please help me." As he said that, he leaned forward and kowtowed, burying his head directly in the snow.

Tian An hadn't spoken to Tian Mingwu about the past, and Xiaokang didn't tell him in detail. In the conversation just now, he only talked about what happened after Tian An split up the family, not before. So for a moment, Tian Mingwu really didn't know who this person was, or what he had done to him.

But since the other party did this, he must have done something wrong to him! However, he didn't know anything at the moment, so it was difficult to punish him. He should wait until he got back and asked his daughter.

He looked at him coldly and said, "It's too late today. I'll come to deal with you tomorrow." Then he walked past him and strode away.

After Tian Mingwu left, no one went to help Tian Mingcai. They just sighed and went back to their rooms.

Tian Mingcai didn't know how long he had been kneeling. He just felt his whole body was stiff, and then he slowly stood up.

After kneeling for a long time, my legs and feet were numb. When I stood up, I was not careful and fell heavily on the snow. I struggled for a long time before I slowly got up and walked towards the room.

As soon as Tian Mingwu got home, he went to Zhao Yiming to ask about the past. He originally wanted to find Tian An, but it was inconvenient to find his daughter at night, and he was afraid of disturbing her rest, so he could only go to Huo Huo, the son-in-law he didn't want to recognize at all.

Zhao Yiming went to Shangba Village after Tian Mingwu went to serve in the military.

At that time, Mrs. Wang and Mrs. Qian from the Tian family were making a lot of noise all day long. The villagers used their family affairs as a topic of conversation after dinner. He heard a lot without having to ask deliberately. In addition, with the help of Qiushan, the know-it-all, he knew a lot about the Tian An family.

Since Tian Mingwu asked, he told him everything without leaving out a single detail.

The more Tian Mingwu listened, the angrier he became. He wished he could skin and rip apart the old woman Wang, Qian, and Li Dazhu. He also hated Tian Mingcai for doing nothing and allowing a few scumbags to bully his wife and children.

When he heard that his wife was tortured to death, he wanted to beat Tian Mingcai on the spot. When he heard that they had abandoned Tian An and almost fed him to the wolves, he could no longer bear it and wanted to get up and go to the general's mansion to find trouble with Tian Mingcai.

Unfortunately, he was stopped by the quick-eyed and quick-handed Zhao Yiming.

Tian Mingwu glared at him, "Why are you trying to stop me? Your wife has been bullied, what are you doing here?"

Zhao Yiming sighed and explained, "We've already avenged An An. Li Dazhu is in jail, and he was crushed to death in the county government office during the earthquake.

Old Lady Wang and Mrs. Qian were also driven out of the village. They could not escape the disaster. The remaining four children are nowhere to be found. It seems that they will not have a good life. Maybe they are suffering the same hardships that An An and Xiao Kang once endured, paying off the debts of their parents.

Besides, if my father-in-law wants to go find Tian Mingcai, he has to go before dawn, and it’s curfew now!”

After hearing this, Tian Mingwu calmed down a little and managed to resist looking for Tian Mingcai.

But he couldn't sleep because he was worried. If he couldn't sleep, how could his son-in-law Zhao Yiming sleep?

The answer is yes.
