Chapter 52: Pick a Daughter-in-Law Who Looks Like a Daughter

The open space was a bit uneven because of the building being built nearby. Old Lady Wang was running so fast that she accidentally fell flat on her face.

Seeing this, Qian, who was watching from a distance, ran over immediately. She shouted as she ran:

"Tian An, you black-hearted, lowly girl, you didn't even let an old woman go. Your grandma came to see you out of kindness, but you pushed her down. Do you have any conscience?"

Old Lady Wang, who was lying on the ground, rolled her eyes. "Oh! Oh! I'm going to die! My granddaughter has no conscience! She pushed me down! My bones must be broken!"

Tian An looked at the two of them in silence as they directed and acted out their own performance.

"What's wrong with you guys? Why is it always you guys?" Tian An was about to speak when he heard an old man's voice behind him.

Tian An breathed a sigh of relief. They finally came. If the clan leader hadn't come, he would have been afraid that he would have been sickened by their awkward acting.

Hearing the clan leader's voice, Old Lady Wang screamed even louder: "I'm going to die. I can't live like this anymore. My granddaughter has become successful and no longer cares about me. I came to see her out of kindness, but she pushed me down! She has no conscience! I raised an ungrateful person!"

Qian also said, "My grandmother-in-law is so pitiful. She raised her granddaughter with all her heart and soul when she was little, but now that she's grown up and become capable, she's turned her back on her. Not only did she not promote her own uncle when she got better, but she also pushed her own grandmother down! She has no conscience!"

Tian An silently carried the small stool thrown out by Old Lady Wang for the patriarch to sit on.

The patriarch nodded to Tian An and was helped to sit down by Qiu Tian.

"Okay, stop howling. It's not shameful. Everyone is watching us!"

When Old Lady Wang heard the clan leader say that everyone was watching, she was about to shout even louder when she heard the clan leader say impatiently:

"I said, stop howling, Wang Shi, you don't understand, right? How many times do I have to say it? Huh?"

The elder had a hot temper when he was young, and his voice was simply deafening.

When Old Lady Wang first married into the Tian family, she was a troublemaker all day long and had been punished several times by the clan leader. If she hadn't gotten pregnant with Tian Mingcai, the third son of the Tian family, she would have been divorced when she was still young. So she still had a lot of affection for the clan leader.

Old Lady Wang looked at the patriarch with a wistful look, feeling aggrieved and wanting to cry but not daring to. It was quite pitiful. Someone who didn't know would have thought there was something going on between her and the patriarch.

But that old face combined with that expression really gives people goosebumps, it's so scary.

The clan leader frowned and said in a strong voice, "Put away your horse urine! If you dare to drop it, just give it a try."

When he was young, he was a troublemaker. Now that he's old, he still hasn't learned his lesson. He chose a daughter-in-law who looks exactly like you. If you didn't know better, you would think she was your daughter."

Oh my! This bad temper is so cute, I like it.

When Qian heard that she was being scolded as well, she immediately retorted: "Clan leader, it's not us who are causing trouble in the family. It's Tian An who is unfilial. He pushed my mother-in-law down and broke her bones." My mother-in-law was afraid of the clan leader, but she was not.

The clan leader frowned and looked at Tian An: "Did you push her?"

Tian An shook his head and said, "No, I was standing far away from her. She hit me with the bench and tried to hit me, but ended up falling down herself."

The patriarch looked around and asked, "Where's the bench?"

Tian An looked at the patriarch and said, "You are sitting here!"

Chief: ...Okay! Just now, this girl lifted a stool from the ground for him to sit on.

"How long do you want to lie on the ground? You're already old and you're not ashamed."

Given Old Lady Wang’s usual behavior, the clan leader would rather believe Tian An.

Seeing that the clan leader didn't trust her, Old Lady Wang knew that her days of enjoying the good life and ordering servants around were over. But if she didn't get some silver out of Tian An today, her time lying on the ground would be in vain.

He didn't care whether he was afraid of the elders or not, and kept groaning: "My legs are broken! I can't get up! I will never be able to walk again in this life! Tian An, you pushed me and made me fall, so you must compensate me. If you don't compensate me, I will lie in front of your workshop every day."

Regardless of whether Tian An pushed her or not, Old Lady Wang really fell down. The clan leader was not sure whether her leg was really broken, and he was a little embarrassed for a while.

She thought about asking Tian An to give her some silver and send her away. After all, Tian An was not short of a few taels of silver.

Tian An, who was standing by, saw that the clan leader looked uneasy, so he quickly spoke up to prevent any changes.

"Grandma Wang said I pushed you, so tell me which hand I pushed you with. If you can't tell me, then you are wrongly accusing me. I won't give you a penny."

Wang automatically understood that she had spoken out, so Tian An gave her some silver and said without thinking, “Left hand, you pushed me with your left hand.

Tian An: "Are you sure?"

Wang said firmly, "I'm sure it's the left hand. Hurry up and give me the silver. Give me ten taels first."

After thinking for a while, he said, "No, give me one hundred taels. Give me one hundred taels first and we'll talk later."

The tribe leader was shocked by her lion-like asking price. Did she know how much one hundred taels was? Not to mention her broken legs, even her whole body was not worth one hundred taels!

I originally wanted to ask Tian An to give her some money and send her away, but unfortunately, I'm afraid she's a dog that can never be fed! Humph!

Tian An stretched out his left hand in front of the clan leader and said, "Look, clan leader, my left hand got oily when I ate the fried cake this morning. If I had pushed Grandma Wang with my left hand, her clothes would have definitely gotten oily.

This is the oil from the scallion pancakes, and it has a strong smell. Everyone will know if I pushed her just by smelling it."

When Old Lady Wang heard that Tian An was actually eating scallion pancakes, her eyes lit up. She had to eat coarse food at home, but this girl could actually eat scallion pancakes. She must not let her go today.
