Chapter 637 Running Errands

After nightfall, Lian Yi and others continued to go out to find a doctor for Xiao Qingheng. Unfortunately, after a night passed, the doctor they found was still useless.

Forget about detoxification, the doctors couldn't even figure out what kind of poison he had been poisoned with.

What's worse is that he didn't sleep at night and didn't get enough rest during the day for the past two days. His physical fatigue actually aggravated the worsening of his wound.

Not only did the wound on the back of his hand more than double in size, but even the two arrow wounds on his arms and legs that had already scabbed over began to bleed faintly.

The wound began to feel burning, as if there were millions of ants crawling on it.

The physical discomfort made him even more irritable. Seeing that Lian Yi brought out two steamed buns for breakfast, he directly knocked the buns to the ground.

"I'm getting so tired of having to eat steamed buns every day. Go, get me something else. Meat porridge, shrimp dumplings, or even braised meat noodles or wontons."

"Sir, our current situation is really..."

With a "bang..." Xiao Qingheng kicked the chair to the ground. "You don't understand what I'm saying, do you? Do you want me to say it again?"

"I dare not." Lian Yi lowered his head and knelt on one knee.

"What are you still standing there for? Go quickly! Do you want to starve me to death?" Seeing Lian Yi still kneeling on the ground without moving, Xiao Qingheng kicked him directly.

When he walked out of the door, he was at a loss. It was broad daylight and the streets were full of soldiers. How was he going to buy food for the prince?

Just as he was racking his brains for a solution, he happened to see Yuntian who had just returned from sending Shitou and the others to set up a stall.

After hesitating for a moment, he took the initiative to walk towards Yuntian for the first time, "My friend, there is a patient at home, and it is really inconvenient for me to go out. Can you help me run an errand and buy some food?"

Afraid that Yuntian would not go, he hurriedly said, "It's not in vain for you to help me. I will pay you for running errands."

Yuntian was thinking about how to find another opportunity to contact them and verify whether they were the people Xiaokang was looking for.

Lian Yi came to the door at this time. He must have been dozing off when someone brought him a pillow.

He put his hand on Lian Yi's shoulder in a familiar manner and waved it away good-naturedly, saying, "Hey! Neighbors, why do you need to pay for running errands?"

Patting his chest, he said generously, "Just let me know if you want to buy anything. It's all easy. Don't hesitate."

When Lian Yizhi was being polite to him, he took out a piece of silver from his lapel and gave it to him, saying, "After you buy something, the rest will be your errand fee."

Yuntian took the silver naturally, and after asking him what he wanted to buy, he went back to his yard to drink some water and then walked out of the alley.

Half an hour later, he came back with a lot of food.

When he knocked on the door, he heard Xiao Qingheng inside getting angry. Lian Yi opened the door, and Yuntian pretended to be curious, took a look inside, and then leaned over to Lian Yi's ear to complain, "Brother, you have a really bad temper. You must be hard to get along with!"

Lian Yi didn't know how to respond to this, so he could only say "thank you" and took the things from Yuntian's hand and turned around to close the door.

Perhaps it was because they had something to ask of him today! When he looked inside just now, Lian Yi did not subconsciously make the vigilant move of gripping the knife handle.

Even though he had just politely asked Lian Yi not to pay for his errands, he would be a fool not to make money, especially when it was bad guys' money, so when he gave the things to Lian Yi just now, he didn't even mention the remaining money.

He happily went home with the remaining copper coins.

Maybe it was because he had eaten something good, Xiao Qingheng rarely had a good face towards Lian Yi.

But after putting down his chopsticks, he looked at the increasingly serious wound on the back of his hand and became furious again.

Lian Yi looked at the wound that was constantly bleeding and could only continue to apply the same medicine to it.

He smashed it to the ground and said, "What are you standing there for? Go find a doctor! Will this medicine help?"

Lian Yi looked at the sun that had just risen in the sky and felt helpless. He could only risk his life to find Yuntian again and ask him to help buy two sets of ordinary cotton clothes.

After all, they were wearing black tights, which made them very conspicuous when they went out. They would probably be spotted by soldiers as soon as they left the alley.

When Yuntian heard that he could make money again, he agreed very readily. He went to the store he often went to and bargained for two sets of clothes. He used the money he saved to buy two pounds of pork.

As I walked into the alley, I was still thinking that if this group of people asked me to help buy things every day, they would have money for food.

When going out to get clothes, Lian Yi saw the meat in his hand, and thought that the prince would definitely not want to eat steamed buns in the evening, so he asked Yun Tian if he could cook an extra bowl of rice to sell to them.

Yuntian's eyes turned, and he immediately said, "Just cook one more bowl of rice? Is it enough for you two brothers?"

Lian Yi couldn't say that he didn't want to eat, nor did he admit that they shared a bowl of rice. After all, he was very generous and didn't look like the kind of person who would share a bowl of rice with two people.

Then he said, "If it's convenient, then cook for six more people!"

Before Yuntian could ask, he explained guiltily, "My brother and I are both manual laborers. Normally, each of us eats three times as much as an average person. Even though he's injured now, his appetite remains the same."

Faced with this passage full of loopholes, Yuntian seemed to find nothing wrong. He just thought that he and Lian Yi were very familiar with each other. He even asked the other person's name, where he was from, and what he did in Beijing.

Lian Yi made up a few random sentences, fearing that he would ask more questions and make more mistakes, so he gave him another ingot of silver, asked him to cook a few more dishes in the evening, and was about to send him away.

When she was about to enter the door, she thought of the bowls from yesterday and specifically asked him to buy a few more bowls for them.

Yuntian naturally agreed and was about to go out to buy groceries again.

After Lian Yi entered the room, he picked a subordinate to change into the clothes bought by Yuntian with him. After instructing the rest of the people to be careful, he took people to inquire about the doctor in the capital.

When Yuntian came to deliver food in the evening, Lianyi had just returned.

Today Yuntian used the silver he gave him to buy a lot of fish and meat. It took two baskets to fill them all, and he even asked Wadian to help him carry them to the door.

While Lian Yi was lowering his head to pick up the basket, Yuntian quickly looked around the courtyard and vaguely saw Xiao Qingheng limping around in the room.

When Lian Zhizhi stood up, he pulled him aside and asked with concern, "Did your friend hurt his leg? Why didn't you see a doctor? A leg injury is a serious problem. If you're not careful, you'll regret it for the rest of your life."

He knew that there must be more than two people in the yard, and the others might be hiding somewhere watching him. Instead of peeking and arousing their suspicion, it would be better to look openly and dispel their doubts.

After all, everyone is curious, and most people would say this kind of casual greeting. If you really don’t say anything, you would be feeling guilty!

Sure enough, Lian Yi saw that his eyes were less vigilant. "We have already asked the doctor, and the doctor told us to rest."
