Chapter 16 The Orange Tree Becomes Bare
Hu Zi’s crying was a bit heartbreaking.
"Cry, cry, cry. All you do is cry. Don't you know how precious the orange tree in the backyard is?" Hu Zi's mother poked Hu Zi's head.
Hu Zi's father helped Hu Zi's mother and said, "Forget it, it's just some leaves. They will grow back in a few days."
"Look at that orange tree, it's just bare. I don't even know if it will produce oranges this year. That's all money."
Hu Zi's father muttered quietly, "So sour, you almost got scolded to death last year, and you still expect to make money this year!"
Hu Zi's mother got angry when she heard this: "Who am I doing this for? It's all for this family."
"If you want to sell it this year, go and sell it. I won't go with you." After saying that, Hu Zi's father turned around and sat on the stone steps.
"You..." Hu Zi's mother was so angry that she couldn't speak.
Wen Zhenyi looked at Old Lady Wen and saw what a big deal this was.
Mrs. Wen knocked on the door calmly. “Knock, knock, knock.”
"Who is it?" Hu Zi's mother's voice was filled with anger.
"Mother Huzi, I am Xiaoman's grandmother."
When Hu Zi's mother heard this, she became even angrier: "I was worried that I would settle the score with you later, but you guys just came here on your own accord." As she said that, she opened the door and looked at the two people at the door angrily.
When he saw Wen Zhenyi, he was obviously stunned for a moment.
Old Lady Wen smiled and said, "Mother Huzi, I'm sorry. Our Xiaoman has caused trouble for you."
Hu Zi's mother withdrew her gaze from Wen Zhenyi and looked at Old Lady Wen: "Grandma Xiaoman, what did your Xiaoman do? Go and look at my healthy orange tree. It doesn't have a single leaf left for me."
Old Mrs. Wen was speechless: "I'm really sorry. The orange leaves have been picked and there's no way for you to get them on them. We feel bad about it, so we made some food to apologize. I hope you don't mind." As she said that, she handed over the basket in her hand.
Hu Zi's mother wanted to say, who cares about your food, but when the cloth on the basket was lifted, the things inside completely attracted her attention.
Hu Zi's father was originally going to pull his wife aside and ask her to stop talking, but he was also stunned when he saw the things in the basket.
Old Lady Wen put the basket in Hu Zi's mother's hand and said, "This is made by my family. If you don't mind, try it."
Hu Zi's mother looked at the basket in her hand, staring at the food inside: golden fried spring rolls, white flour spring rolls wrapped with colorful vegetable shreds, and a small bowl with sauce next to it.
It looks delicious just by looking at it, and there are two full bowls prepared, which is quite a portion.
There was also a bowl of soup next to it, which tasted of meat and had an indescribable fragrance.
"Grandma Xiaoman, is this really for us?"
Mrs. Wen nodded: "It's just a small token of our appreciation. It's our apology."
Hu Zi's mother no longer had the orange tree in the backyard, only the food in the basket: "What are all these?"
Old Lady Wen pointed at the contents and said, "These two are spring rolls, but they're eaten differently. Dip the white one in sauce, and eat the golden one like this."
After that, he pointed at the olive pig lung soup and said, "Don't be disgusted by this. This is olive pig lung. It has the effect of promoting fluid production and moistening dryness, nourishing yin and nourishing the lungs. This soup has a light olive aroma and tastes refreshing and sweet. Drink it while it's hot. If it's cold, the taste will be worse."
Hu Zi's mother was still angry, and immediately smiled and said, "They are just some tree leaves. If Xiao Man likes them in the future, feel free to pick them."
Hu Zi wiped his tears and looked at his mother: That’s not what you said just now.
Old Lady Wen took Wen Zhenyi home and said, "Yiyi, don't you plan to let the villagers know that you are not stupid anymore?"
"Grandma, if I could suddenly speak, would they treat me like a monster? I'm not afraid of trouble, but I don't want you to suffer this injustice."
Old Lady Wen smiled and patted her head: "That's not true. We wish the whole world knew that you're fine now, that you're not that idiot anymore, so that no one will call you stupid anymore."
Wen Zhenyi turned to look at her: "Grandma, there might be more rumors!"
"What does it matter? Our whole family is behind you. We will help you fight back."
Wen Zhenyi smiled and said, "It will be very hard!"
"As long as we are of one mind, how can it be hard?"
Wen Zhenyi said nothing, took her hand and walked towards home. On the way, they met Zhou Chunhua's grandmother next door: "Grandma Zhou, are you out for a walk?"
Zhou hadn't put the melon seeds in her hand into her mouth yet, but when she heard Wen Zhenyi greet her, her eyes were full of disbelief.
When she wanted to ask something, she found that the grandfather and grandson had already returned to the yard.
Zhou looked around and saw that there was no one around. She swallowed and thought she must be hallucinating. How could this little fool speak?
Could it be that she had touched something dirty? Thinking of this, she shuddered all over and didn't plan to find anyone to chat with. She immediately ran back towards home.
Old Mrs. Wen was so happy. She had just seen Zhou's expression. She wondered if tomorrow would be lively again.
The family was busy all day today. After dinner, everyone washed up and went back to their rooms to sleep.
Wen Zhenyi's biological clock woke up very early, and she decided to start exercising today, otherwise she would be exhausted before making any money.
She changed into comfortable clothes, combed her hair into a high ponytail, and prepared to go out for exercise.
What she didn't expect was that she got up early, and the Wen family got up even earlier, except Wen Yongman.
When everyone saw her, they were all a little confused.
"Yiyi, why did you get up so early? Go back to sleep." Ma Yinghe was worried that she hadn't gotten enough sleep.
Wen Yongnan noticed what she was wearing at this time: "Yi Yi, what are you going to do?"
Wen Zhenyi looked at them with a smile: "My body is a little weak, I want to exercise."
"Doctor Wan said you need to take some more care."
"Mom, I can't sleep now. Please let me run around the village twice."
The whole family looked at the sky above their heads. It was still dark, but the stars were still visible.
"We'll run with you, just as exercise." Wen Chengwen woke up and was about to kill the pig, but when he arrived at the backyard, he found that there was no pig at home.
Ma Yinghe also smiled and said, "I haven't exercised for a long time, so let's do it together."
What was originally Wen Zhenyi's morning run turned into a family run. Even Wen Yongman, who was sleeping, was caught up and forced to run with him, looking sleepy.
Until now, he still hasn't realized when morning jogging became a traditional sport in his family.
Wen Zhenyi had just run a hundred meters when he felt sweat pouring out of his body. His health was really bad.
She was thinking of running around the village twice, but she almost collapsed from exhaustion after one lap. Thinking that she still had work to do today, she gave up and could only proceed step by step.
