Chapter 196 Visiting the Meng Family
Wen Zhenyi gave Naiyou a bath. The little guy was quite cooperative and let her turn him over and over.
When she came out with Cream in her arms, the five people in the yard were still sitting there. She walked over helplessly and said, "You haven't figured it out yet?"
"Yi Yi, no boss would be like you." Aunt You gave her a resentful look.
"No one else hates money as much as you do."
A few people burst out laughing: "Who said we hate money? It's just that we don't feel we deserve this money."
"Who said it wasn't? Have you been doing more these days than before?"
Several people nodded.
"Did you guys go to bed later than before and get up earlier than before?"
Several people nodded again.
"Isn't that right? You guys have put in more effort, so is there a problem with me paying you more?"
Aunt Ding turned to look at Aunt Dou: "Is she right?"
Aunt Dou frowned: "It seems to be correct."
Wen Zhenyi looked at them and said, "So don't feel any psychological burden. This is what you deserve. Work hard in the future. If the store's business is good, I will give you a big money bag."
The corners of their mouths twitched. Some got up and went back to their rooms, some went to the toilet, and some went to wash up. In short, no one answered her.
Wen Zhenyi looked down at the cream in his arms, who was rubbing water on it: "They are still ignoring me."
The next day.
Wen Zhenyi let them sleep until they woke up naturally, and she herself carried a lot of things to Mayor Meng's house.
The concierge didn't recognize her: "Who are you looking for?"
"I'm looking for your young lady, Meng Caidie."
"Who are you?"
"Wen Zhenyi."
"Wait." He said and closed the door.
Not long after, Meng Caidie's maid came out and opened the gate. Seeing that it was Wen Zhenyi, she quickly bowed and helped her carry her things: "Miss Wen, the young lady said you would be back today and has been waiting for you since early morning."
"Have the other ladies arrived?"
"We're all here, just waiting for you."
Wen Zhenyi brought a lot of things with her this time, so she had to trouble Lin Jie to bring them over, otherwise she wouldn't be able to carry them all. "Brother Lin, once you've delivered the things, go back and have a good rest today. You'll be busy tomorrow."
"Whenever you go back, I'll come pick you up."
"No, I don't know when I'll be back. I can go back by myself then."
"Okay, then try to take the main road on your way back."
"I see."
The maid saw that there were still a lot of things in the carriage and asked: "Are these all for us?"
"Most of it is. The two of us can't carry it in. You can ask two servants to come and get it."
"Okay, wait a moment." The maid went to the yard and called two maids to come over to help carry a lot of things.
Wen Zhenyi saw Lin Jie leave, and then followed the maid into Mayor Meng's house.
Their house was not very big, just a small courtyard with two entrances, and there were not many people living there, just a few cleaning women, two doormen, and three servants.
"Is your wife home?"
"Yes, Madam knew you were coming, so she didn't go out today."
Wen Zhenyi brought out two baskets and said, "Take me to meet your wife first."
"Okay." The maid took Wen Zhenyi to a courtyard and said, "Miss Wen, please wait a moment."
Wen Zhen nodded slightly and stood outside the courtyard gate waiting. She didn't like these wealthy families very much because they had too many rules.
Not long after the maid went in, she came to invite Wen Zhenyi: "Miss Wen, the Madam invites you in."
Wen Zhenyi walked into the yard carrying her things and saw Madam Meng sitting in the yard, making tea: "Madam Meng, it's been a long time since we last met. You are still as beautiful as ever."
Mrs. Meng was amused by her: "You are such a sweet-talker, it's so hot out here, sit down and rest for a while."
Wen Zhenyi sat down in front of him calmly and placed the basket on the table: "I brought you a little gift, I hope you don't mind."
Mrs. Meng looked at the basket on the table and poured her a cup of tea: "I can open it and take a look."
"certainly."
Mrs. Meng opened both baskets, which were filled with snacks made by Wen Zhenyi. She smiled and said, "I regret not attending the flower viewing party. You still think of us."
"It's just some stuff I made myself. It's not worth much."
"You said it wasn't worth much, but now if someone wants to buy a basket of your cakes, they don't know who to ask." He closed the lid and said, "Send it to the young masters and young ladies."
"Mrs. Meng, don't send it to them. This is for you alone. I have prepared everything for them," she said, pointing to the basket carried by the maid outside.
"You, child, really don't leave anyone behind. It's good this way, so that Mrs. Lei won't always say that she only heard that your cooking was delicious and only tasted the candied cherries her daughter made under your guidance."
Wen Zhenyi was slightly stunned: "Does Madam Lei also like to eat these things?"
"There are probably not many people who don't like what you make. After drinking this cup of tea, go to Caidie's yard. They have been waiting for you since early morning."
"Okay, thank you, Madam Meng, for the good tea."
"Don't be so anxious to thank me. My husband will be back soon. You should stay for dinner. I'm afraid he has something to tell you."
"Okay." Wen Zhenyi finished his tea, stood up and bowed to take his leave.
The maid took her to the backyard. Before she even entered the yard, she heard the voices of Meng Caidie and the others: "Why hasn't Yiyi arrived yet?"
Lei Yingying sat in the pavilion, fanning herself: "Didn't you ask the maid to pick her up?"
Meng Caidie walked a few steps in the pavilion and looked towards the entrance: "My house is not this big!"
Wen Zhenyi looked into the pavilion and said, "Caidie, Yingying, Huanhuan."
Song Huanhuan hurriedly stood up to greet her: "I thought you were lost in Caidie's yard."
"I can't get lost, but I should go see my elders now that I'm here."
Lei Yingying looked at the maid carrying a lot of baskets and asked, "What are these?"
Wen Zhenyi turned his head and looked at it: "This is the refreshments I brought for you."
"I knew you were the best."
The maid put all the baskets on the table beside her and left.
Song Huanhuan pulled her to sit at the stone table and said, "What delicious food did you bring us?"
"You only have one basket. The others are for you to give away."
Meng Caidie was confused: "Who are you sending it to?"
"Take Yingying and Huanhuan back to their parents, or you can give them to a girl you like."
Song Huanhuan looked at the amount she brought and said, "I think this is not just for my parents."
Wen Zhenyi smiled and said, "If your fiancé's home isn't far away, you can send some over."
Song Huanhuan blushed at her annoyance: "Even you are teasing me."
Wen Zhenyi turned around and looked at them: "Why don't I see your brother?"
