Chapter 27: Fishing for Copper Coins in the Oil Pan
Everyone's eyes followed his whisk, only to see that he was pointing at Wen Zhenyi who was standing in the middle.
"Old Man Wen, you said your granddaughter wasn't possessed by an evil spirit. Now the evidence is irrefutable. What else do you have to say?"
"Yes, your Wen family is going to kill our entire village."
"You have lost your conscience!"
The old man's face turned ugly and his breathing became rapid.
Wen Zhenyi quickly patted his back and said, "Grandpa, don't be angry. It's not worth it to ruin your health." He turned around and looked at everyone: "You said I was possessed by an evil spirit. Do you have any evidence?"
"The Taoist priest has already said it, and you still want to quibble?"
Wen Zhenyi sneered, "Is the conclusion based on just one lip service? Then wouldn't it also be fair to say you're not possessed by an evil spirit?"
"You." The villager said, looking at the Taoist priest: "Master, please help me catch the monster."
The Taoist priest looked at Wen Zhenyi. His eyelids were twitching, and he felt a little uneasy today. However, when he thought about making money, he cheered up again. "This demon is very powerful. To prevent her from escaping, I have just set up a formation in the yard. I will open the altar and perform a ritual to capture her."
He was followed by two young men in Taoist robes, who started to make a fire and placed drawing paper, candles, incense and other things on the table.
On the stove nearby, there was an oil pan with a few copper coins in it.
Wen Zhenyi and Old Lady Wen said, "Grandma, no matter what happens, don't panic or worry. I won't let anything happen to me. Just watch quietly."
Old Lady Wen nodded: "Be careful. If things really don't work out, you still have us. Even if it costs me my life, I will protect you."
"Grandma, you don't have to risk your lives. I hope you live a long life and stay with me forever." After saying that, she walked up to the Taoist priest and asked, "Master, are you going to set up a stall and cook?"
The Taoist priest stood in front of the table, talking a lot, but no one could understand what he was saying.
The Taoist priest opened his eyes and looked at Wen Zhenyi: "Today, I will expose your true colors in front of the villagers."
"I don't know how the Taoist priest intends to expose my true form."
The Taoist pointed at the oil pan next to him and said: "Any ordinary person will be possessed by my immortal energy. Only by putting their hand into the oil pan can they exit intact. If it is a demon..."
He didn't finish his words, just snorted coldly a few times.
Wen Zhenyi smiled and nodded: "So the Taoist priest is possessed by immortal energy, so he can avoid being burned by the oil in the wok?"
The Taoist priest stroked his beard and smiled, "Of course. I am a Taoist priest with profound skills. You, little demon, should surrender quickly to me, or you will be spared the pain of being boiled in the oil pan."
While the two were talking, the oil in the wok next to them began to boil.
Seeing her indifferent look, the Taoist priest snorted in his heart: I'll let you taste the taste of fried food in a while.
"Since you don't listen to my advice, I can only..." He rolled up his sleeves and prepared to fish out the copper coins from the frying pan.
But Wen Zhenyi's hand was faster than him and reached directly into the boiling oil pan.
"One by one." The Wen family members turned pale with fear when they saw her put her hand into the boiling oil pan. But they remembered what she said, and no one rushed out.
Wen Zhenyi stretched out his hand, holding a copper coin in his white little hand, and placed it on the table: "Master, it's your turn."
The Taoist priest now had cold sweat on his forehead and face. This little girl was very weird. When she looked at him, it seemed as if she could see through everything.
"you."
Wen Zhenyi smiled and said, "Master, you said it yourself. An ordinary person can put their hand in and come out intact. I came out intact now. Is it your turn now?"
The Taoist priest's face changed: "You little demon, I underestimated you. Since you are not afraid of the oil pan, I will use the talisman to beat you to death." Then he picked up the peach wood sword on the table and poked it into a few pieces of yellow paper.
Just as he was about to reach out for a bowl of water on the table, Wen Zhenyi took it away, tilted his head back, took a sip, and sprayed it on the yellow paper on his peach wood sword.
A red ghost pattern immediately appeared on the yellow paper, scaring the villagers behind it and making them step back one by one.
The Taoist priest was also sprayed with water in the face by Wen Zhenyi. Seeing the yellow paper in his hand, his uneasiness became more obvious: "You."
Wen Zhenyi threw the bowl in his hand and said, "Use whatever skills you have. Don't let this little demon look down on you."
The Taoist priest was now extremely panicked. He saw Dong Li out of the corner of his eye and ran over quickly: "Village chief, the monster in your village is very powerful, and I am not good enough to eradicate it. You should seek help from someone else." As he said that, he wanted to run away.
"Mom, give me a stick." Wen Zhenyi would never let him run away. She didn't have so much free time to deal with these people all the time.
Ma Yinghe looked at the carrying pole at her feet, stepped hard on it, and the carrying pole jumped up. She then kicked it towards Wen Zhenyi with the instep of her foot.
Wen Zhen didn't even turn around. He just raised his hand to catch the carrying pole, picked up the stick and hit the old Taoist priest on the back of his knee.
The old Taoist priest lost his balance and fell to the ground: "Ouch!"
"Did I let you go? You can't sing anymore, so you just want to take the money and leave. How can such a good thing happen?" Wen Zhenyi picked up a carrying pole and hit him as he said this.
Dong Li was stunned by this sudden change and didn't know what to do.
"Village chief, this girl from the Wen family is really a demon, otherwise how could she be so powerful?"
"Yeah, look at how the Taoist priest was beaten by her."
Wen Zhenyi turned his head and looked at the person who spoke: "Shut up, or I will beat you up too."
The villagers were too scared to speak. When they tried to run, they found that the Wen family had already blocked their way out. "Where are you going in such a hurry?"
"I'm not planning on going anywhere, I'm just going to make room."
Every blow from Wen Zhenyi's carrying pole hit the old Taoist priest, causing him to run away in pain. However, no matter how he dodged, he could not avoid the falling carrying pole.
After beating her enough, she threw the carrying pole aside. If it weren't for her physical limitations, she would have insisted on letting him feel why the flowers were so red.
Dong Li was relatively calm, and he seemed to have noticed something: "Wen girl, what is going on?"
Wen Zhenyi took a deep breath and then said, "These are just tricks used by these charlatans."
"A trick?" Everyone in the village was puzzled.
Wen Zhenyi looked at the three Taoist priests on the ground and said, "Grandpa Village Chief, tie these three up first. I will explain everything to you slowly."
The village chief asked someone to find a rope, tied up the three Taoists like dumplings, and threw them in the yard.
Wen Zhenyi went to the kitchen and took out a pot, then took out vinegar and oil, and poured both into the pot.
Soon the pot was boiling, so she found two celery stalks and put them in. The one that went in first was fine when she took it out, but the one that went in later was obviously fried.
