Chapter 39: A Family of Madmen

Chapter 39: A Family of Madmen

Old Lady Zhu fell to the ground, slapping her hands and crying, "Village Chief, have you seen this? This family is bullying me, their elder. It's really like the top beam is crooked and the bottom beam is crooked."

Ma Yinghe spat at her and said, "Don't think that just because I call you Aunt Zhu, you are truly my elder. I'm giving you face? You're bullying my daughter in front of me?"

"You, it was your daughter who caused my grandson to be lost. You are a money-losing, unlucky, unwanted little bitch..." Old Lady Zhu started swearing again.

Ma Yinghe rushed forward and tried to tear her mouth.

Dong Li's expression became increasingly grim, and he slammed the table: "That's enough."

Both Old Lady Zhu and Zhu Dafu's mother were startled and dared not say a word.

Dong Li looked at the two people lying on the ground. "Don't think I don't know what happened yesterday. It wasn't just your two children and their children who were there. There were children from other families as well. They've all explained everything clearly."

"It was clearly your Zhu Dafu who wanted to steal someone else's things. When the other person refused, he tried to hit the other person but failed, fell down, and now he's blaming the other person. You guys just went there and started to attack without knowing right or wrong. If the Wen family girl wasn't strong, wouldn't she be beaten by you four adults?"

"You still have the nerve to come here and confuse right and wrong. The reason your grandson ran away is because your son slapped him. It's also because of your pampering and spoiling him."

Old Mrs. Zhu was not convinced and immediately jumped up from the ground: "What's wrong with me spoiling my grandson? He is the only son of our Zhu family. He will carry on our family line in the future. I can raise him however I like."

Dong Li was also very angry. He was really arrogant and unreasonable. He threw his sleeves and walked towards the gate of the courtyard: "Brother Wen, you can do whatever you want with him. I can't control him."

When Wen Zhen saw Dong Li leave, he took out a stick and said, "I asked you to leave, you can go away on your own."

When Zhu Dafu's mother saw the stick in her hand, she shuddered all over and hurriedly pulled Old Lady Zhu out.

Old Mrs. Zhu had long forgotten the pain she felt yesterday and cursed the Wen family as she walked.

Wen Zhenyi lowered his eyebrows, not knowing what he was thinking.

Wen Yong angrily slammed the gate shut.

Old Lady Wen patted Wen Zhenyi on the shoulder: "Yiyi, don't worry about them, they are just a family of lunatics."

Wen Zhenyi raised his head and said with a smile: "Grandma, I won't mind."

Ma Yinghe looked at Wen Chengwen and asked, "Are you done with the farm work?"

"No, I just came back and went to the fields when the village chief arrived. Then the Zhu family started crying and making a fuss. The village chief asked the two men in their family to go find the child, but they refused to leave and insisted that Yi Yi was the one who killed them."

"We are the only men left at home, and we can't throw them out, so we can only let them make trouble here."

Ma Yinghe was also quite annoyed with this family, as if his family was the only one with a son.

In the afternoon, the Wen family didn't care whether Zhu Dafu's family had found his child or not, but went to work in the fields.

Old Mrs. Wen didn't let Wen Zhenyi go to the fields and asked her to rest well at home.

Wen Zhenyi didn't force her. She couldn't tell the difference between weeds and rice seedlings. If she pulled the wrong one, it would ruin everything.

She got up and walked towards the foot of the mountain in the village. She remembered that this was where she needed things.

Hu Zi and his friends were playing in the village, and when they saw her, they all ran over and said, "Sister Wen, Sister Wen."

Wen Zhenyi stopped and looked at the children: "Why are you here?"

"Our parents went to help find Dafu, so they let us play in the village by ourselves."

"Haven't you found it yet?"

Hu Zi shook his head: "Not yet." Then he looked beside her: "Isn't Xiao Man here yet?"

"Xiao Man went to the fields. If you want to find her, you can go find her there."

Mantou: "Sister Wen, where are you going?"

"I'm going to the mountains to find some ingredients."

Gousheng: "Have you prepared something delicious?"

"I'll make you something delicious when I'm done with this. I've been a bit busy lately."

The children nodded happily: "Okay."

"You guys go play."

Hu Zi pulled his friends to the edge of the field, ready to go play with Xiao Man.

Wen Zhenyi smiled as he watched them run away happily, and walked towards the foot of the mountain.

When she came back from the foot of the mountain, she heard that Zhu Dafu had been found, but he seemed to be injured and was still unconscious.

Old Mrs. Zhu kept cursing their family at home, saying that it was their fault.

Wen Zhenyi ignored it. When she returned home, the Wen family members had not returned yet. She processed the things she found and put them away carefully.

Seeing that it was getting late, I started to cook dinner.

When we were having dinner in the evening, everyone in the family came back, but they all looked unhappy.

Wen Zhenyi put the dinner on the table: "Grandma, what happened to you?"

"The Zhu family said we were responsible for Zhu Dafu's death. Zhu Dafu was found this afternoon with a head injury. He's now unconscious. We took him to the town clinic, and they said it would cost a lot of money. They're trying to extort money from him."

Ma Yinghe was filled with anger: "What kind of people are these? They beat up their own child, and she ran away, and now they blame us." She looked at Wen Chengwen and said, "If you hadn't stopped me, I would have beaten her to a pulp."

Old Man Wen snorted coldly, "They're still talking about suing the authorities. Let them go ahead and sue. I don't believe it. They can still confuse right and wrong like this."

Wen Yongnan was also furious: "I've never seen anyone so shameless."

Wen Zhenyi looked at his family members, all fuming: "Don't be angry, it's not worth getting yourself hurt over someone like that."

"Yes, yes, let's eat. If she wants to make noise, let her make noise." Wen Chengwen responded.

Ma Yinghe glanced at him, went to wash her hands and sat on a stool to eat.

After a busy day today, everyone was tired. After washing up, we went back to our rooms to rest.

Wen Zhen opened his eyes in the middle of the night. No matter how sleepy he was, he turned over and sat up in bed. He took out a worn-out piece of clothing from the box and put it on.

She tiptoed out of the room and listened to the even breathing sounds in the surrounding rooms. She knew that no one in her family was awake.

Carefully pulling open the bolt of the gate, she slipped out of the yard.

The moon here is very bright at night. Even without street lights, it still makes the road look silver.

The dogs in the village barked from time to time, intimidating people who approached.

Wen Zhenyi walked towards the Zhu family. At this time, everyone in the village was already asleep, so she didn't have to hide from anyone.

The Zhu family had a dog before, but after Zhu Dafu was born, they were afraid that the dog would bite Zhu Dafu, so they gave the dog away. This made it easier for her to do things.

The Zhu family's wall was made of adobe and was not very high. She used the force to easily climb over the wall.

The yard was quiet and the moonlight shining on the ground was as bright as day, allowing her to easily find the Zhu family's bedroom.
