Chapter 101 What can the palm print do to me?

The night was deep, and a cool breeze was blowing.

The bright moon hung high in the sky, its light pure and clear, bathing everything in a silvery glow.

On the grass not far away, a brazier made of branches held a roaring fire.

A gust of wind blew by, and the firelight flickered.

Xiao Heye and Su Tiyue moved from the grassy area by the stream into the tent.

The tent was spacious and covered with a thick white fleece blanket.

A small pear wood table was set up on the velvet carpet, on which were placed wine and a dim oil lamp.

The two sat on the ground, side by side, the atmosphere somewhat subtle and ambiguous.

Su Tiyue was in high spirits and drank a small half cup of mulberry wine.

I haven't been this happy in a very long time.

Life in the palace was dull, monotonous, and lifeless.

Su Tiyue always felt like a canary trapped in a cage.

A canary whose wings have been broken, forever unable to fly freely.

But thankfully, her better days should be coming soon.

After leaving the palace and returning home...

She was no longer some kind of imperial concubine.

Su Tiyue could live as an ordinary woman, with her father and mother, and their family would always be together, never to be separated.

Thinking of this, she smiled and downed the half-glass of wine in front of her.

Two blushes appeared on her round cheeks as she mysteriously pulled something out from under her moon-white sleeve: "Handprint, give me your hand."

Xiao Heye, with a calm expression, silently handed her his left hand.

"Today I accompanied the Empress Dowager to Lianyin Temple, and I specially chose a gift for Master Xiao."

As Su Tiyue spoke, she grasped Xiao Heye's left hand and placed the green sandalwood bracelet on his wrist.

"It fits perfectly, and the color is beautiful too..."

She lowered her head and muttered to herself, looking very serious, looking at it over and over again several times.

Xiao Heye's wrists were lean and muscular, with faint blue veins visible beneath his fair skin, giving them a strong and powerful appearance.

Xiao Heye lowered his eyes, staring intently at the green sandalwood pendant on his wrist, his deep voice carrying a hint of coldness: "Why did you suddenly give me this?"

"What, don't you like the palm print?"

Su Tiyue opened her eyes wide and timidly looked up at him.

She sensed that Xiao Heye's voice sounded a bit off, and thought that she had been too reckless and had once again offended him.

Xiao Heye realized he had lost his composure. He took her soft little hand in his palm and squeezed it gently. "How could I not like something Yue'er gave me? I'm just... surprised."

Seeing his reaction, Su Tiyue breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "I'm glad the palm print likes it. I even gave it a name..."

"A string of handheld items even has a name?"

“Of course, it was blessed at Lianyin Temple, it’s very effective… it can keep you safe and keep your true self.” She lowered her head, gently flicked the beads on Xiao Heye’s wrist with her fingers, and whispered, “I gave it a name, Compassion.”

The air condensed.

He paused for a moment.

Su Tiyue raised her eyes, which sparkled, and spoke softly: "Master Xiao, I can ignore what you want to do and who you want to kill. After all, everyone has their own secrets and their own things to do. But, could you... occasionally show some mercy and not be so ruthless?"

"It's too cruel to slaughter entire families at the drop of a hat. When will this cycle of revenge end? There are so many innocent people in this world. If you keep killing like this... the world will turn into hell sooner or later."

"Can you please leave those elderly, weak, women and children like me who are powerless to even kill a chicken? They know nothing and are powerless to stop you from doing what you want to do, aren't they?"

"..."

Although she had crossed the line, Su Tiyue still couldn't help but say quite a few things.

Upon hearing this...

Xiao Heye slowly raised his hand and pinched her fair cheek, saying in a low voice, "Tsk... Yue'er, I prepared these surprises for you on this big holiday, but now you keep saying unlucky things. Aren't you spoiling the mood?"

Su Tiyue turned her face away to avoid his large hand, and said coquettishly, "I'm serious. If you don't want to agree, just pretend you didn't hear me."

Xiao Heye saw that her brows were tightly furrowed and her face was gloomy; this little thing seemed to be really angry.

If Su Tiyue is really angry, she won't be easy to coax. Besides... he went through all this trouble to prepare so much, wasn't it all to make her happy?

He sighed silently to himself.

Then, he stretched out his long arm and pulled her into his arms, holding her captive, his eyes deep and unfathomable, a hint of a smile hidden within.

Xiao Heye gently coaxed, "Yue'er. But, just once in a while... is that alright?"

He killed countless people throughout his life, often wiping out entire families.

Su Tiyue, however, used the gift of the bracelet called "Compassion" to try and persuade him to spare the elderly, weak, women, and children.

Xiao Heye thought about it and it didn't seem like a bad idea.

Killing a few fewer people occasionally won't cause any real trouble, but it will make this little thing in front of me happy.

She'll be obedient when she's happy, and if she's obedient, Xiao Heye can do whatever he wants, right?

How could Xiao Heye, being so clever, refuse something that benefits both himself and others?

Seeing that he had relented and agreed to the "occasionally" request, Su Tiyue raised her delicate eyebrows, nodded slightly, and gave a satisfied smile.

Immediately afterwards, Su Tiyue grabbed his shoulders with both hands, raised her face, and placed a light kiss on his forehead.

Then, blushing, she released his shoulder and said, "This is a reward."

Su Tiyue's voice was sweet, and the way she blushed and took the initiative to kiss his forehead was very alluring.
