It was past midnight.
The sky was dotted with stars, and the carved wooden window was half-open, letting in a cool night breeze.
Su Tiyue sat obediently on the couch, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, her eyes fixed on her palms.
Xiao Heye sat beside her, silently applying the medicine while keeping his head down, occasionally lifting his eyelids to glance at her.
Each time Su Tiyue applied a little ointment, she would silently retract her hand by an inch.
If you get burned and the skin is broken, it's okay if you don't touch it, but if you do, it will feel burning hot.
It was both painful and burning, but thankfully, after applying the medicine, the burning sensation gradually turned into a slight cooling sensation.
That feeling wasn't pleasant.
Xiao Heye was, after all, a man, and no matter how lightly he struck, he couldn't compare to Liu Wan's gentleness.
Su Tiyue bit her lip, noticing that his movements had become more abrupt, and wondered if Xiao Heye was doing it on purpose...
Those little hands trembled slightly and then withdrew a little bit.
Seeing her uncooperative attitude, Xiao Heye clicked his tongue and looked at her with a slightly darkened gaze, as if he was unhappy again.
"Now you know what pain is?" He lowered his voice, his words mocking, "When Your Majesty rushed into the fire just now, you weren't even afraid of dying..."
Su Tiyue glared at him: "This is the Empress Dowager's last wish. I have already agreed, so how could I ignore it? Besides... that is the memorial tablet of the late Crown Prince."
Xiao Heye shrugged dismissively: "So what? They're all dead now... You can't risk your own life for them, can you?"
“I’m willing, I do it willingly. And…”
Su Tiyue's expression changed, and she said coldly, "Moreover, if Master Xiao really can't stand it... you can also ignore my affairs."
She said, somewhat defiantly, biting her lip, "It's none of your business."
Su Tiyue had wanted to say this from the moment he planned to throw away the memorial tablet of the late Crown Prince.
Why should Xiao Heye just throw away her things like that?
He's so domineering and arrogant; if he's really angry, he might as well just leave her alone.
"Don't you want me to interfere?" he repeated, suppressing his anger.
Xiao Heye placed the ointment on the table, stood up, and paced back and forth in front of her with his long legs.
His figure was sleek and tall, exuding a cool yet intimidating aura.
His eyebrows were like icy blades, his dark eyes were unfathomable, and his thin lips were tightly pressed together, showing restraint and forbearance.
Xiao Heye casually rubbed his temples. The words "Don't worry about me" acted as a fuse, completely igniting the anger in his heart.
“This isn’t a question of whether I should intervene or not. What I mean is that since you had the audacity to barge into the Buddhist temple, you should have considered what the consequences would be.”
Xiao Heye suppressed his emotions and didn't get angry, but he raised his voice a little: "In this palace, everyone has to be responsible for their own actions and reap what they sow, right?"
"If Your Majesty is afraid of pain, then you should stay put and not cause any trouble or get hurt!"
"Look at yourself... didn't you bring this on yourself?" Xiao Heye grabbed her wrist, revealing a gruesome wound on her palm.
His voice was sinister and ruthless as he gripped her fingers tightly.
Su Tiyue winced and pulled her wrist back: "It was indeed my own fault, but I didn't blame anyone else. Why is Master Xiao so angry?"
"Then don't cry out in pain! And don't keep hiding!"
"Apply the medicine!"
Xiao Heye approached her again with a gloomy face, his tone and expression not good.
Why are you speaking so loudly?
Although Su Tiyue acted somewhat rashly in this matter, she had already heard Xiao Heye nag about it for quite a while.
My body was already aching, and then he yelled at me while I was getting medicine.
Su Tiyue felt increasingly aggrieved, her face flushed red with anger, and her voice was even louder than his: "You're yelling at me!"
Xiao Heye stopped in his tracks, frowning slightly: "...Me?!"
Is his voice very loud?
besides……
Did he yell at her?
Su Tiyue stood up, angrily pushing his chest with the back of her hand, trying to make him leave: "You've been in a huff ever since you came upstairs. This isn't your Night Pavilion, it's not a place for you to vent your anger. I'm not your subordinate either... Manager Xiao, don't talk to me with that fierce attitude."
"I don't need you to apply the medicine for me, I'm going to find Liu Wan right now..."
She pouted and took only half a step before Xiao Heye grabbed her arm and dragged her back onto the chaise lounge.
"Is Your Highness resorting to using my attitude as a pretext because you can't reason with me?"
That little thing of hers is clever. Halfway through the argument, she realized she wasn't in the right at all, and instead blamed Xiao Heye for speaking too loudly and for being too fierce.
"Heh..." Xiao Heye laughed in anger. He bent down, half-squatting on the ground, and continued to apply medicine to her fingers.
"You dog slave," Su Tiyue uttered softly.
Her expression was resentful, and her small face was puffed up with anger.
When facing Xiao Heye, Su Tiyue really had no advantage at all.
She couldn't win the argument, nor was she as strong as him. When she tried to leave, he easily pulled her back with one hand.
Really...
I feel so frustrated.
Xiao Heye wasn't angry when he heard her cursing; he simply pretended not to hear it.
After applying the medicine, Xiao Heye held her fingers and gently blew on her burning palms.
Just when everyone thought the argument was over, Xiao Heye suddenly raised his face and said seriously, "Is this how the servants of Tingyu Tower serve their masters? They just watched the Empress rush in without stopping her? In my opinion, these servants should be taught a lesson so they won't forget their mistakes."
