Chapter 26 Heaven is like water

After gathering her thoughts, Mrs. Fan said, “Miss Ming, you probably know a little about how our Fan family got to where it is, but perhaps not in great detail. Our Fan family actually started out in the cloth business. Generally speaking, we have always been quite honest in our business dealings. If we really want to say who we have wronged, it is probably only one person, my sister-in-law.”

Mr. Fan was feeling unwell. He lowered his head, not daring to look at Mingluo and Mrs. Fan. His eyes were fixed on the ground as if he could stare a hole through it.

Mother Fan continued, "My sister-in-law's name is Fan Yanran. That was more than ten years ago. At that time, our Fan family's business was already doing very well. We had a big customer who often came to our house to order goods. He was pretty and always very generous. He would pay in full for the goods. Over time, he and Fan Yanran got together. They dated for a while, and Fan Yanran got pregnant."

"Logically speaking, they should have gotten married by now, but the man never mentioned marriage. Later, he simply disappeared. We went to the place where he did business to look for him, but we found that he had already run away. At that time, we realized that we had been deceived, so we advised Fan Yanran to have an abortion and live a good life on her own, and not to be sad for the rest of her life because of a scumbag."

“But Fan Yanran was determined to have the baby. She even made my parents-in-law sick. Her brother, who is my husband, slapped Fan Yanran hard. Fan Yanran fell to the ground and miscarried. She then ran away from home and never came back. However, we knew that she went to see that man. Later, she sent something back saying that she had severed all ties with us and that we would have no relationship with each other anymore.”

After finishing speaking, Fan's mother got up and fetched a box, which she opened in front of Mingluo.

The box has a simple and rustic design; it's a metal box with many rivets that form a somewhat ferocious pattern.

Inside the box was a pure white fur scarf and a letter with a yellowed envelope, which looked quite old.

Fan's mother showed it to Mingluo without any hesitation.

Mingluo opened the letter and glanced at it. The words inside were resolute, even carrying a deep curse. It was a letter filled with resentment, not at all like something written by a relative, but rather like something written by an enemy.

Minglu frowned. "Is this Fan Yanran's handwriting?"

“Yes!” Mr. Fan looked up and affirmed, “I taught her to write, I recognize her handwriting, and it is indeed her own handwritten letter.”

Mingluo examined the letter in her hand for a moment, then said calmly, "This wasn't written by her."

"Huh? How is that possible?" Mr. Fan was extremely puzzled. "I've compared them. When she writes the character 'I,' she always habitually makes the first stroke look like a vertical line. This is definitely my sister's handwriting."

Minglu did not argue, but instead laid the letter flat on the table and reached out to stroke it.

A surge of spiritual energy emanated from her hand, erasing the spell covering the letter and revealing its original appearance.

It was still a letter filled with curses, but the handwriting was completely different now.

And there were a few more lines: You killed my child, you deserve to die! You deserve to die! You deserve to die! If Yanran hadn't wanted you to die, you would have died a thousand or ten thousand times over. Yanran was magnanimous and let you go, but I won't let you go. I will make you dream about my child every time you want to, and his ghost will haunt you for the rest of your lives. You'll be in for a world of trouble!

This line of text was written in red, like fresh blood.

The large exclamation mark conveyed a strong sense of resentment and hatred, revealing the intense emotion and bitterness felt by the person who wrote the letter.

When Mr. Fan picked it up and took a look, he was shocked. His hands trembled uncontrollably, and he almost dropped the letter.

"This isn't Yanran's handwriting!"

He slumped weakly on the sofa, completely powerless, staring blankly at the ceiling, clearly unable to understand what was happening.

Mother Fan hurriedly picked up the letter, read a few lines, and her face showed a mixture of excitement and fear. "This is that man's handwriting. I recognize it. Yanran has found that man."

Mingluo tapped the sofa armrest with her finger, lost in thought. It seemed that the man Fan Yanran had found was not simple, but someone who knew metaphysics. But how could someone from the metaphysical sect do business?

strangeness!

She picked up the white animal fur scarf and looked at it, then couldn't help but chuckle.

It turned out to be a male fox.

Mother Fan was in the fabric business and knew a lot about fabrics. She asked cautiously, "Is there a problem with this fox fur?"

"The fox fur is fine; it's a good pelt," Mingluo said calmly.

But what she said next gave Fan's mother a chill.

"It's just that the fox died a rather tragic death. A thousand-year-old male fox was skinned alive and made into a scarf. It harbors a lot of resentment. Whoever wears it will be unlucky. Have you ever worn one?" Minglu looked at the two of them casually.

The two looked at each other and shook their heads in unison. "This is a little keepsake left behind by Fan Yanran. We couldn't bear to use it, so we just kept it and took it with us wherever we went..."

Fan's mother suddenly stopped, realizing what was going on. She looked at Mingluo in horror, waiting for Mingluo to confirm whether things were as she thought.

Minglu nodded calmly. "The problem lies in this fox fur and the letter. The person who is dating Fan Yanran is not simple. He should be a member of the Xuanmen sect, and he is also very petty. You caused his child to die, and he doesn't want to turn against you because of Fan Yanran, but he also doesn't want you to have an easy time, so he used this thing to get rid of it. Now that no new resentment will be generated in the house, it will be able to live there again."
