Chapter 1

In the endless black forest, a hunchbacked human figure staggered and walked slowly.

The human was wrapped in heavy armor, the outside of which had been torn in places, revealing the texture of the wood. From inside the armor came a muffled, rough, and harsh sound of strong breathing.

Finally the human removed the filter mask, which fell from his fingertips to the ground.

The man had an ordinary appearance, a haggard face, and dry, flaky lips that were cracked and bleeding. His body instinctively made him lick the tiny liquid clean.

Three days ago, he led a team of mercenaries into the Nightmare Forest in order to obtain resources, but he never expected that his team would pay with their lives for it.

All the supplies are with his teammates, but he can't go back. Being close to his teammates is equivalent to death.

The Nightmare Seed is planted on a teammate's body and remains active until the teammate's body is fully absorbed.

The man took off his mask, revealing his skin. Without water, food, or a filter mask, he would die of thirst or hunger, or be planted by the nightmare seeds and become a nightmare, moving around and spreading the seeds.

What awaits him is nothing but death. Before that, he wants to take one last look at the sun as a human being.

But the huge black nightmare forest swallowed up the light, and when looking up, all one could see was endless darkness.

Until a touch of verdant green suddenly caught the man's eye.

The man's pupils shrank, and he slowly twisted his rusty neck and looked up.

From the cracks in the Nightmare Forest, a hint of green came into view.

The man moved towards that direction. The lush green grass, full of vitality, formed a very clear dividing line with the black color of the Nightmare Forest. The man widened his eyes in shock.

"Mirage?" The helmet in his hand fell to the ground, and he walked step by step towards the dreamy mirage that seemed like the last pure land in the world.

The man stepped on the soft ground, the fragrance of green grass entered his nostrils, and suddenly a bird flapped its wings and flew across the sky, reflected in the man's eyes.

Getting a little closer, the man saw endless farmland, and at a glance, he could see a real city built on the ground.

"How is this possible? This is... a city? Impossible. There are cities in this world?" The man widened his eyes and staggered towards the seemingly unreal city.

However, as we got closer, the city did not disappear, but became clearer. The fields surrounding the city were lush and green.

The man lay at the edge of the farmland, his hands trembling as he tried to touch the vegetables growing vigorously in the soil.

As far as the eye can see, there are lush green leaves everywhere, and under the green leaves, the white radish fruits are showing a little bit.

The man was nervous. He reached out his hand and carefully dug away the soil covering the radish bit by bit.

Even the radish roots that had penetrated the ground were carefully pulled out from the soil. The white radish, still covered with soil, was carefully held in the hands of the man, who took a bite of it with great care.

The rich juice of the plump white radish quickly flowed into the man's mouth. The crisp and sweet taste made him feel uncontrollably sad. The unique freshness and deliciousness of the food was the most wonderful taste he had ever felt since he was born.

Even the radishes from the Mobile City Alliance can't compare to the shocking taste of this radish.

The man couldn't help wanting to cry, but lack of water prevented him from shedding tears. At one point he thought he was dead and that all this was an illusion before death.

Chewing on the white radish in big mouthfuls, the man seemed to be back to the age of five. After crying and begging his parents, his parents gave him a meal of fresh food that he still didn't know how much effort it took for his parents to eat.

Suddenly, a shadow enveloped him. The mercenary's instinct made him want to dodge, but even if he died, he was reluctant to let go of the white radish in his hand.

The man looked up, but what he saw was a farmer who was not wearing any protective armor and was only dressed in soft fabric.

The farmer revealed his muscular arms and calves tanned by the sun, raised the farm fork in his hand high, and without hesitation, stabbed the sharp fork down towards the man's neck.

The man was unable to react. This person appeared too quickly and too quietly. He had been on the brink of life and death for twenty years, but he was completely unable to notice this person approaching.

This person is the strongest among the strong!

will die.

At least before I died, I got to eat some fresh white radishes, which are so popular in this world.

"Hey, carrot thief?" Suddenly, a crisp voice appeared around them, and this voice instantly tore through the darkness and murderous intent that shrouded the man.

The fierce farm fork did not fall, but instead stabbed directly into the ground.

The fierce farmer suddenly looked wooden, all his coldness disappeared, leaving behind a simple and honest face, and he began to turn the soil seriously, as if he was just a diligent farmer.

The man noticed from a distance that a young boy was jogging towards him from the outskirts of a farmland.

The boy has delicate features, extremely fair skin, messy short black hair, and dark pupils that are comparable to the most precious black mineral in the world. He wears light clothes, and the bright sunlight casts a layer of soft light on him, making him look extremely fragile, as if he will be blown away by the wind at any time, yet also so delicate and beautiful that anyone would be shocked.

He had experienced many dangers and wanderings throughout his life, and had met all kinds of people, but he had never seen someone so pure, transparent, and dazzling that made people feel awe.

The man could only stare blankly at the boy running towards him, as if he was witnessing the arrival of God.

He Fang came to the side of the man wearing extremely strange black clothes, and looked at the red exclamation mark on the man's head. It was a low-level mission.

It was somewhat unexpected that the first game mission of "Xu Wu Restart" after it went online was not the main storyline.

"You deserve no one to play your game if you play it like this." He Fang muttered to himself, then bent down to look at the terrified man crawling on the ground holding a white radish. He was stunned for a moment, then inexplicably lowered his voice, "Do you need any help?"

The man was stunned for a moment, his lips trembling and he didn't say anything for a long time.

He Fang waited for a long time but got no response, and was a little confused: "Is it a bug?"

"I'm... I'm sorry..." The man said the first sentence in a hoarse voice after a long while, "I'm sorry for stealing the carrots."

He Fang looked up at the endless radish field and the farmer N-PC who was working nearby, then glanced at the savage man and replied, "I'm telling you on behalf of the farmer that it's okay."

It's just a radish. It'll probably grow again tomorrow, and he looks like he really needs it.

However, the man seemed to not understand what He Fang said. His hands were shaking, and his face was still stained with the juice from eating carrots: "I will pay you. I will definitely..."

He Fang blinked his eyes. This was probably a simple mission to earn money. If he didn't accept it, this extremely hungry N-PC might not want to eat. "Then give it to me."

He Fang looked at the man. It looked strange that the man's whole body was wrapped tightly with armor made of plants, so the man was sweating profusely and looked extremely ferocious. Such detailed performance was just like a real person.

The man searched out a lot of currency from Hun's armor and handed it to He Fang. He Fang counted it and found it was not much. The man fumbled around as if he wanted to give him all the money.

"That's enough. No need. They're just radishes, not worth the money." He Fang refused.

If you spend a lot of money to buy a carrot, it is basically a money mission N-PC.

Compared with the taxes that his city pays every day for its operations, these small amounts of money are nothing.

However, the man showed an expression of flattery and surprise: "Is it only this little money that can buy these carrots?"

"That's enough." He Fang calculated the value of the currency. The money he gave was enough to buy more than 20 kilograms of radishes. He didn't want to take advantage of N-PC for nothing.

"Thank you, thank you very much." The man showed a grateful look.

He Fang watched helplessly as the man ate the dirt-covered carrot without leaving any residue. He even licked his fingers clean and finally tried to scrape the carrot juice off his face and eat some more. He Fang could not bear to watch it any more.

She pulled out another radish, patted off the dirt, wiped it clean with a wet towel, and handed it to the man: "Eat it."

The man didn't hesitate at all, he hugged the carrot and started to eat it. What puzzled He Fang was that the man not only ate the whole carrot, but also picked up the carrot roots that He Fang had taken the trouble to remove from the ground and ate them too, not to mention the carrot leaves.

He Fang fed the man several carrots in succession and didn't wipe it this time.

Isn't this just an ordinary task? Or can I just keep feeding this man till the end of time?

Finally, after eating the tenth radish, the man slowed down his movements, but he kept chewing carefully, as if he was enjoying the delicious taste of the radish and did not stop completely.

He seems to... really like radishes, He Fang blinked.

"Where is this place?" the man asked. His voice sounded much calmer, and it seemed that he had a little more strength after eating the carrots.

"It's my city." He Fang said.

"Your...city?" The man was stunned. He took his eyes away from the dazzling young man with great difficulty and looked at the dazzling city full of vitality under the sun.

"Yes, I am the city lord." He Fang half-knelt on the ground and looked at the strange armor on the man.

"City Lord..." the man muttered, but his eyes suddenly became anxious, "Hurry up and take everyone away. In the distance, over there, the Nightmare Forest is already nearby."

"Nightmare Forest?" He looked in the direction the man pointed. At the border of the grass was a black area where nothing could be seen clearly.

Isn't that the game boundary?

"Xu Wu Chongqi" is a simulation management game. The expansion of land requires all facilities to meet the standards before it can be successfully expanded. And these black areas are all areas that cannot be expanded at present.

Theoretically, "Restart of the Ruins" can be expanded indefinitely. As long as the supporting facilities in the city can keep up and the score is high enough, players can even build an entire earth.

Why did the officials smack their lips when they officially announced the online launch and renamed these black open areas as Nightmare Forest?

"We will definitely expand in that direction in the future, but now is not the right time." He Fang said to the strange man on a mission in front of him.

"Expansion? You said expansion? That's the Nightmare Forest. Once we encounter the resurrected Nightmare Plants inside, everyone will die!" The man stood up immediately.

"I used to expand like this?" He Fang was a little confused. Did the current expansion conditions change? For example, did we need to open up the Nightmare Forest?

Go back and search the official website to see if there is any guide.

"You said, this is how it was expanded before?" The man was shocked. The people in front of him had been expanding the city's land on the Nightmare Forest, a symbol of death?

How horrible is this?!

etc……

The man suddenly noticed something strange.

The Nightmare Seeds would quickly attack any living creature nearby. However, the green grass that bordered the Nightmare Forest should have been a host for the Nightmare Seeds long ago. But why...

Instead, it was as if the Nightmare Forest was afraid of the plants that posed no threat, drawing a clear dividing line and not daring to get even a bit closer?

A sudden surge of fear rose in the man's heart. Could it be that this was a place more terrifying than the Nightmare Forest?
