Chapter 288 Golden Thunder

Chapter 288 Golden Thunder

Li Mingshu felt extremely distressed seeing Yue'er struggling to breathe, but the three of them had nowhere to stay.

Ultimately, her heartache for her daughter prevailed. Li Mingshu looked around and, after spotting a large rock in the woods, slowly carried Lin Chaoning towards it.

One side of the boulder was quite smooth, just big enough to accommodate a person lying flat. Li Mingshu was overjoyed. She gently placed Lin Changning on the boulder and then beckoned Yue'er over: "Come here, Yue'er."

Yue'er's body and the soles of her shoes were covered in mud, and her rosy little face was also dirty.

Li Mingshu sat on a corner of the boulder, holding her daughter in her arms, and gently wiped the sweat and mud off her daughter's face with her sleeve.

"You must be exhausted, Yue'er?"

Yue'er struggled slightly in her mother's arms, then turned her head to look at Lin Changning, her face filled with worry: "How is Uncle Lin, Mother?"

Li Mingshu didn't know how to answer her daughter. Changning's injuries were quite serious; the scabs on her wounds had reopened in less than a day.

As I was carrying Changning on my back, I could vaguely feel that Changning's body was starting to get hot again.

Li Mingshu reached out and touched Lin Changning's forehead, and sure enough, he had a fever again.

Lin Changning even started talking in his sleep, but his voice was too low for Li Mingshu to hear clearly or understand.

Li Mingshu placed Yue'er on the boulder, then tore open a section of her sleeve and looked around. There was no stream nearby, but the morning mist had condensed into a thin layer of water droplets on the stone.

After wiping the boulder with a strip of cloth, Li Mingshu quickly placed it on Lin Changning's forehead to try and cool her down.

Lin Changning was now trapped in a nightmare. She was surrounded by a thick fog, and countless consciousnesses seemed to be telling her from all directions that she shouldn't be there and that she should go back to where she belonged.

Lin Changning looked up and gripped his sword tightly. Listening to the sounds coming from all directions, he felt an unprecedented sense of rejection.

It's not a rejection of the body, but a rejection of the will and the soul.

Lin Changning's past life slowly unfolded before her eyes: her loving parents, her mischievous junior brothers and sisters in the martial arts school, familiar faces swirling around her, beckoning her as if to take her home.

"Ah Ning, your dad made your favorite braised eggplant for dinner. Come home early today!"

"Ning, Dad froze some Coke for you in the fridge. I specially picked the sugar-free version. Now you don't have to worry about gaining weight, right?"

"Senior Sister, can I come to Master's house for dinner tonight? Master's shredded pork with garlic sauce is absolutely amazing!"

"Senior sister, can we skip practice today? Your cute junior sister is exhausted!"

Looking at the heartwarming scenes before him, Lin Changning unconsciously followed forward. This was her home, and all of them were her family. Perhaps now that he was home, he wouldn't have to stay in this damned world anymore.

Just as Lin Changning took a step, a thunderbolt suddenly cleaved through the fog in his dream, shattering the false illusion and illuminating the dream with golden lightning.

Lin Changning suddenly woke up with a start. Wait, she was supposed to be the female supporting character Lin Changning, so how could she suddenly be home?

If I remember correctly, she must have fallen from a very high floor, so everything that just happened was an illusion!

Lin Changning suddenly drew his sword, his phoenix eyes burning with intense flames. Pointing the sword to the sky, he said coldly, "I don't care who you are, don't try to fool me with my family! Get out here!"

Lin Changning's voice echoed like thunder in the empty dreamscape. Holding his knife, Lin Changning cautiously surveyed his surroundings. A layer of hazy golden light pierced through the surrounding mist, and the thick fog around him surged for a moment before finally retreating unwillingly.

Before Lin Changning could figure out what was going on, another golden lightning bolt struck him directly. There was no burning pain from the lightning strike; instead, Lin Changning felt a warm sensation creep into his brow, making his whole body feel comfortable.

The golden light on his body seemed to intensify, but before he could figure out what was happening, he felt light and drowsy.

When Lin Changning opened his eyes again, it was already broad daylight. The sky was a clear blue, and the sun was shining brightly overhead. Water vapor was rising from the forest, making it feel rather stuffy.

Lin Changning moved his body slightly and found that the wound no longer hurt. There was a slightly damp strip of cloth on his forehead. He turned his head and saw that Yue'er was curled up next to him. Her small body was curled up in a ball, her little hands tightly gripping his sleeve, and her brows were furrowed with anxiety.

Lin Changning slowly sat up and looked at the princess lying on the rock with her head turned to the side. The hem of her dress and clothes were covered with mud. She seemed to be exhausted. Her head was resting on the boulder, and she seemed to be sleeping soundly.

He was still clutching a wet strip of cloth in his hand, presumably because he had carried her here after she fell unconscious last night, and had been trying to bring her down when she started to have a fever.

Lin Changning touched the wounds on his body and was surprised to find that they seemed to have scabbed over. Somewhat incredulously, he peeled them back to take a closer look and found that they had indeed formed thick scabs.

Thinking back to the dream she had just had, Lin Changning couldn't help but touch her brow. She felt a slight burning sensation, but couldn't feel anything there.

Lin Changning frowned and thought for a while but still couldn't figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it.

The most urgent task is to take the princess and the young lady back to Taiyuan as soon as possible. Lin Changning immediately turned over and got off the rock, picked up the princess who was lying on the boulder, and gently placed her on the rock.

They planned to let her rest for a while before leaving with her. It was really not easy for a weak woman with no strength to even kill a chicken to carry a child here and guard her for so long.

Lin Changning is grateful.

After gently placing the princess on the stone surface, it seemed that the movement was a bit too rough, or perhaps the boulder was too hard and woke her up.

Li Mingshu's curled eyelashes trembled slightly, then she sat up abruptly, her fingers gripping Lin Changning's clothes tightly, looking around uneasily.

"Moon! Is someone chasing us? Run!!!"

Lin Changning reached out and grasped Li Mingshu's flailing hand, gently coaxing her, "Sister, it's alright, sister, no one's chasing us, no one's chasing us, I'm awake, sister."

Li Mingshu's gaze was somewhat unfocused, slowly settling on Lin Changning. She seemed to be dreaming about something, her expression still somewhat dazed.

"Six?"

Overwhelmed by a profound sense of unease that morning, she realized Lin Changning was awake and abruptly grabbed him: "You're awake? Are you still in pain? How's your wound? Is it still bleeding?"

Lin Changning's eyes crinkled with a smile as she instinctively tensed up: "It's alright now, sister. Thank you for your hard work yesterday..."
