Chapter 309 Digestive Pills

Chapter 309 Digestive Pills

The next day, Lin Changning slept well. Around noon, Shilang came to call her for lunch. Wan Jin and Lu Shan had been preparing to knock on the door early in the morning, but Qi Rong stopped them, saying that Lin Changning had been traveling with her people and that she should get a good night's sleep and rest.

Since no one had gotten up by noon, Shiro was sent to deliver lunch to them.

Shiro knocked on the door, and the knocking made Lin Changning scratch his head in annoyance on the bed. He turned over, stretched, and accidentally pulled at his wound, which made him jolt with pain and wake up instantly.

Opening her sleepy eyes, she saw the sunlight streaming into the room, sat up abruptly, loosely draped her clothes over herself, and got out of bed to open the door.

"They're here..."

Upon opening the door and seeing the food box in Shiro's hand, Lin Changning was surprised: "Tenth Brother?"

Shilang walked straight in: "Knowing that Sixth Brother is feeling tired, the Commander asked me to bring you some food. You haven't taken your medicine today, have you? Take it with water after you eat."

Lin Changning closed the door: "I did sleep quite well that night."

Shiro smiled shyly: "Let's eat first, Sixth Brother. Sleep a little longer today, we'll be setting off early tomorrow morning."

Lin Changning nodded and sat down at the table, watching Shilang place the food on it.

Have you eaten?

Shilang nodded: "I've eaten, Sixth Brother. Just leave it here after you finish eating. I'll collect it later. I'll go and brew some more medicine this afternoon."

Lin Changning picked up the chopsticks and rice bowl and quickly began shoveling rice into his mouth.

She wouldn't notice it until she smelled the food, but once the food was taken out of the lunchbox, the enticing aroma filled the room, instantly whetting her appetite.

Lin Changning felt so hungry he could eat a whole cow, and soon he finished a bowl of rice.

Shiro was about to serve Lin Changning more rice, but Lin Changning waved his hand and said, "No need to serve anymore, I've eaten enough of the dishes."

The dishes in front of her were very bland, probably because they were mindful of her injury and didn't use any oily or salty ingredients, just some light side dishes.

After finishing his food, Lin Changning rubbed his stomach to catch his breath.

"Sixth Brother, take your medicine."

Lin Changning took the teacup from Shilang, drank some water and rinsed his mouth, then took the pills and swallowed them with water.

Shiro had already put the leftover plates back into the food box. Lin Changning, having finished eating and drinking, was about to go back to bed to rest when there was another knock on the door.

"Xiao Liu? Are you there?"

A gentle female voice came from outside the door, and Shiro couldn't help but look at Lin Changning on the bed: "Sixth Brother?"

Lin Changning rolled over and sat up, then walked straight to the door and opened it.

Li Mingshu, who had changed her clothes, was now wearing a hairpin and a pale yellow jacket and skirt. She was holding Yue'er's hand, who was wearing a light blue jacket and skirt, and was standing outside the door waiting quietly.

Lin Changning opened the door, smiled at Li Mingshu, bent down, picked up Yue'er, and said with a smile, "Does the princess have something to ask me?"

As she spoke, she carried Yue'er into the house. Li Mingshu followed Lin Changning into the house with a faint smile on her face. After Lin Changning pointed to the stool next to the table, she sat down and said, "It's nothing. I was just worried about your injuries. I just finished eating with Yue'er and came to check on you."

Lin Changning poured Li Mingshu a cup of tea: "I'm fine now. Shilang prescribed some medicine for me, and I've already taken it. The wound has scabbed over, so it's not a big problem."

Li Mingshu smiled gently as she looked at Lin Changning with soft and tender eyes: "It's still better to be careful. My second brother said that we should be able to reach Taiyuan in a few more days, so you can get some rest and recover from your injuries."

Yue'er chimed in, "Yes, Uncle Lin, although the medicine is very bitter, you must take it carefully."

Lin Changning pinched Yue'er's cheek: "Okay, okay, Uncle knows."

Li Mingshu seemed to have just noticed Shiro packing up behind Lin Changning: "And who is this?"

Lin Changning turned her head and glanced at Shilang, who was making her bed, and explained, "This is my younger brother, the tenth in the clan. Just call him Shilang. He is currently studying medicine at the Prince's Palace. He was a little worried about me this time, so he came out to direct them."

Li Mingshu nodded to indicate that she understood. Yue'er looked at Shilang with some curiosity and whispered in Lin Changning's ear, "Uncle Lin, did Uncle Shilang give you bitter medicine? Don't be afraid of the bitterness. Yue'er secretly hid some maltose. I'll give it to you after Uncle Shilang leaves."

Lin Changning was amused by Yue'er's childish words and couldn't help but tease her: "Shilang, come over and take Yue'er's pulse. Yue'er has had a hard journey. Come over and check if there is anything wrong with her body."

When Juro, who was packing his things, heard his older brother say this, he couldn't help but feel a little tempted to tease the child.

"Hmm? Okay, let me take her pulse."

After saying that, he put down what he was holding and walked straight toward Lin Changning.

Yue'er's mouth gaped open, somewhat surprised that her favorite Uncle Lin had betrayed her. She hurriedly struggled to get up and prepared to rush back into her mother's arms.

However, Lin Changning was strong, and Yue'er's short legs struggled several times but she couldn't get out of Lin Changning's arms.

Once Shilang sat down next to Lin Changning, Yue'er struggled even more fiercely: "I'm not sick, I'm not sick, I'm perfectly healthy, Yue'er doesn't need to take my pulse!!!"

Li Mingshu found it amusing, but she knew that Xiao Liu was doing it for Yue'er's health. She had been negligent in thinking about taking Yue'er to see a doctor during their bumpy journey. Xiao Liu was very thoughtful.

"Moon, how dare you be rude!"

The child stared wide-eyed, mouth slightly agape, looking at his mother with disbelief, but ultimately dared not disobey her and slowly quieted down in Lin Changning's arms.

Somewhat reluctantly, he stretched out his hand with a death-defying air, saying, "See? Can you please stop pricking me with needles?"

Shiro, with a stern face, directly took Yue'er's pulse: "Whether or not you need acupuncture depends on your condition. If you eat well and rest well every day, then naturally you don't need it."

Moonlight's eyes lit up instantly: "I eat well and sleep well every day!!!"

Shiro smiled, his eyes crinkling. After taking Yue'er's pulse, he sighed, looked at her anxious eyes, and released her hand.

Lin Changning looked at Shilang and asked, "How are you? Is there something wrong with your health?"

Shiro shook his head and smiled as he looked at Yue'er's anxious little face. "It's nothing serious. She ate too much last night and needs to digest today."

Yue'er looked up expectantly and asked, "Does that mean we don't need to get needles anymore?"

Juro nodded gently and said, "Of course."

After speaking, he opened the medicine box under the table, took out a small porcelain bottle, and handed it to Yue'er. Yue'er was quite disgusted and refused to take it. Lin Changning asked with a smile, "Tenth Brother, what kind of medicine is this?"

Shiro smiled and poured out a pill, stuffing it directly into Yue'er's mouth before saying, "This is a digestive pill I made with hawthorn and dried tangerine peel when I had nothing else to do. It's sweet and sour."
