Chapter 343 Extremely Handsome
Lin Changning has been busy with three things these days. During the day, he goes to the embroidery workshop to supervise the work and help out, and helps his mother manage the workshop. After lunch, Li Mingshu and Qin Xiangxiang come to his doorstep together.
He was to escort him around Taiyuan, and in the afternoon, he would have someone take him back to the Prince's Mansion before he went home to rest. Recently, it seemed that Brother Qi was a bit too busy, so he had Wan Jin move half of the official documents from the Military Command over.
So although Lin Changning was still on vacation, he had actually started working. Wan Jin would finish his work in the evening and deliver the official documents to Lin Changning. The next morning, he would go to the Lin family to take the documents to the military headquarters.
Lao Ma and Lao Zhou have been extremely busy lately. There have been many big developments in Taiyuan recently, and apart from Lin Changning, who is recovering from an injury at home, the others are all running around like crazy.
Lin Changning could hear Lao Ma's frantic roaring in the middle of the night on several occasions.
On one occasion, Lao Ma even climbed over the wall and went to Lin Changning's house, holding four official documents and asking him to approve them.
When they arrived at Lin Changning's home and saw the thick stack of official documents on Lin Changning's desk, and then looked at Lin Changning writing furiously at his desk, they were too embarrassed to speak.
He left Lin Changning with two roast chickens, then sat down at the table next to Lin Changning with a long face, cursing and swearing as he reviewed official documents.
He was talking about which companies had recently been imprisoned for doing some dirty deeds, and that the Dusi prison was almost overflowing.
This morning, Lin Changning did not go to the embroidery workshop. Her mother took her two sisters-in-law to supervise the work and purchase materials. Lin Changning had gotten up early and originally wanted to go with them.
However, Lin's mother felt sorry for her child. Last night, Lin Changning had been reviewing official documents for most of the night, and he had two big dark circles under his eyes, looking like a brand-new panda.
He hadn't slept for more than a few hours when he was woken up by Wan Jin, who came to collect official documents. He was filled with a sense of utter despair.
So Lin's mother let Lin Changning rest at home. Lin Changning finally managed to take a nap, but before he could even eat lunch, he heard Qin Xiangxiang and Yue'er running into the main hall, chattering and shouting at the top of their lungs.
"Mr. Lin, are you still not up today?"
Lin Changning's room was off-limits to maids and servants, so no one dared to enter his room to call him.
Qin Xiangxiang figured it out after visiting twice, and every time it was time to act normally, she would shout at the top of her lungs.
Lin Changning knew someone had arrived when he heard that loud voice.
Lying in bed, still half asleep, Lin Changning covered his face, rubbed it a couple of times, got out of bed, put on his shoes, straightened his clothes, and went out with a somewhat helpless expression.
After washing his hands and face in the yard, he rinsed his mouth with salt water before leaving the yard.
Seeing the three people sitting in the main hall outside the door, and four or five maids quickly walking into the main hall.
"Greetings, Princess."
After speaking, he turned his head and looked at Qin Xiangxiang, nodding slightly in acknowledgment.
Li Mingshu found her best friend Qin Xiangxiang and went shopping in Taiyuan with her. She became much more cheerful, and the faint sadness and gloom on her body dissipated. The melancholy between her brows and eyes was also washed away.
Li Mingshu smiled and paused for a moment when she saw the dark circles under Lin Changning's eyes before saying gently, "Why don't you take a rest today? You don't look like you slept well last night, and you're still coming with us today. It's too much trouble for you."
Lin Changning shook his head: "It's no trouble at all. Where are we going today?"
As he spoke, he expertly hoisted Yue'er onto his shoulders. Yue'er sat on Lin Changning's shoulders, giggling happily.
Qin Xiangxiang, linking arms with Li Mingshu, winked at Lin Changning: "There's a banquet coming up in a few days, and my uncle and I are going to Zhencui Tower to pick out some jewelry. We'll trouble you, Assistant Manager."
As he spoke, he pulled the person out, and Lin Changning, supporting Yue'er, followed behind them. After putting the person on the carriage, they slowly headed towards Zhencui Tower.
Upon arriving at the destination, Lin Changning followed her inside, holding Yue'er's hand and standing next to Li Mingshu. The shopkeeper recognized Li Mingshu instantly, bowed to her, and then glanced at Lin Changning, who was wearing a purple brocade robe.
After leading them to the private room, the innkeeper had several exquisite pieces of jewelry brought out and placed on a tray for the two to choose from.
"Princess, Miss Qin, these are all top-quality goods that our master recently crafted. Do you see any that catch your eye?"
Li Mingshu picked up a jade hairpin shaped like a green bamboo leaf and examined it carefully.
The shopkeeper looked at the hairpin Li Mingshu was holding and said, "Your Highness has excellent taste. This hairpin was carved from the best part of a piece of green jade that came back last month. The color is clear and shiny, and it would be even more beautiful under the sunlight."
Li Mingshu suddenly turned around, holding the hairpin, and walked towards Lin Changning. She opened her palm to show Lin Changning the jade hairpin: "Changning, what do you think of this hairpin?"
Lin Changning looked down at the jade hairpin in Li Mingshu's slender white hand and nodded: "Beautiful, exceptionally elegant. If paired with light-colored dresses and light makeup, it would surely make her appear exceptionally refined."
Li Mingshu blinked. She had intended to give the hairpin to Changning. These past few days, Lin Changning had been escorting them every day, which had been quite tiring. She hadn't expected that Lin Changning would even think of what kind of hairpin to match with what kind of clothes and makeup. She was both amused and exasperated.
Qin Xiangxiang had already set her sights on a set of ruby headdresses. Although the quality of the gemstones was average, the design created by the craftsman was truly beautiful, and Qin Xiangxiang liked it very much.
Li Mingshu smiled, waved her hand, and said to the waiter, "I'll take this hairpin. Come and put it on him."
Lin Changning then realized that Li Mingshu had bought the hairpin for him. His hair was tied into a high ponytail and coiled into a bun, secured only with a strip of cloth.
A man is supposed to reach adulthood at twenty-two, but she's still far from that age, so she just casually tied her hair up.
“Princess, protecting you is my duty. There’s no need to buy such expensive things.”
Li Mingshu ignored him, handed the list directly to the waiter, smiled at Lin Changning, winked at Yue'er, and then went to continue picking out her favorite jewelry.
The waiter stood beside Lin Changning, holding the jade hairpin with some difficulty.
"Oh, sir? Would you like to sit here for a moment? I'll help you put it on."
Lin Changning frowned, remaining motionless. At this moment, Yue'er shook Lin Changning's hand: "Uncle Lin, Uncle Lin, Yue'er wants to see you wear a jade hairpin, so please wear it!"
Lin Changning thought for a moment, realizing it wouldn't be good to offend the princess in public. After hesitating for a moment, she took Yue'er's hand and sat down on a stool to the side. She reached out and took the hairpin from her little sister's hand and casually stuck it in her hair.
The waiter slapped his thigh, somewhat exasperated: "Oh dear, sir, you're wasting such a wonderful gift. Let me help you."
As he spoke, he directly pulled out the hairpin that Changning had casually stuck in her hair, let down Lin Changning's long hair, and then neatly inserted the hairpin to tie her hair back up.
"Oh my, I'm not exaggerating, but the way you stand here with this jade hairpin really brings out the jade's spiritual energy and your own handsome features!"
Your features possess a naturally refined and handsome air, which, combined with the soft glow of the jade hairpin, makes you look both elegant and dashing, like someone who has stepped out of a painting.
The waiter's endless praise drew the attention of Qin Xiangxiang and Li Mingshu once again.
A hint of amazement flashed in both of their eyes.
Li Mingshu smiled and echoed, "Changning is extremely handsome..."
