Chapter 351 Wei Shao

Chapter 351 Wei Shao

The first encounter left Wei Shao somewhat startled.

Wei Shao never expected to encounter such a skilled fighter here. His arms, which had been used in combat, were numb, and the wound on his side was extremely painful.

He was unlucky, really. He came from Yingzhou Guard, and his father was a centurion in Yingzhou. They were living a peaceful and happy life at home, but unexpectedly, this year the imperial court conscripted half of the soldiers directly from Yingzhou.

His father was a master spearman, but he passed away this year from a cold. As the eldest son, he succeeded his father in his position.

He originally thought that life in Yingzhou would be comfortable, but who knew that the imperial court would directly transfer half of the soldiers from Yingzhou. After his father passed away, he was appointed as the centurion. He was taken to the new city as soon as he took office.

He and the commander led a total of over 1,800 men, traveling all the way from Yingzhou.

The weather was hot, and everyone was exhausted after marching for many days. The commander had originally told everyone to rest, but after setting up camp, he felt uneasy.

Nighttime is a good time for a surprise attack.

When they arrived, the commander said that there were still 10,000 rebels in the new city. He and the commander were responsible for stationing men on the west side, and they would launch a general attack three days later.

We arrived at our camp today, and everyone was exhausted, both physically and mentally. Many people even collapsed from the heat.

At noon, he reminded the commander to be careful of nighttime attacks, but the commander was exhausted from the journey and did not take his words to heart. He simply waved his hand to dismiss him and then lay down on the bed to rest.

As soon as night fell, he became extra vigilant, as their stationed area had the fewest patients among all the surrounding areas.

They need to be extra vigilant these next two nights, as nighttime is a good time to launch a surprise attack. However, they received orders to rest and reorganize their troops, so they set the date for the attack for three days later.

Once the people in the new city discover them within these three days, this place will be their best point of entry.

So as soon as night fell, Wei Shao ordered his men to patrol the surrounding area, but perhaps because he had just taken office, he was already short-handed.

The men have already stormed the camp tonight, yet no one has come to inform him. They must have ignored his words and failed to patrol or guard the area.

Wei Shao gritted his teeth so hard they almost broke. He led several of his father's trusted men directly to the commander of the group, who was dressed in full armor and searching for the attackers.

After hiding in the shadows for a while, they finally spotted Lin Changning, who was frantically attacking them. The enemy's attack came suddenly, and most of the people in the tents were not prepared for battle.

The best approach is to first capture the leader of the enemy.

Once their commander is defeated, the rest will be no threat. Once their morale collapses, they will have a chance to survive.

So, having locked onto Lin Changning, the rear guard Shao, carrying a long spear, led several personal guards to charge forward. Unexpectedly, these people were all skilled fighters.

Before his personal guards could even get close to Lin Changning, they were surrounded by several people behind him. Only he managed to fight his way in.

However, as soon as they clashed, Wei Shao knew that this person was a tough nut to crack and would be difficult to defeat.

A hint of amusement flashed in Lin Changning's phoenix eyes as he squinted at Wei Shao. He had been fighting for a long time and often sparred with others in the army. It was obvious that the man wielding the gun was quite skilled.

However, recalling the sensation of his longsword slicing through the armor, Lin Changning felt a sense of suspicion.

Wei Shao's complexion was also not good. The wound on his waist was a reminder that the armor issued by Wei Suo was crudely made.

Lin Changning didn't give Wei Shao a chance to think again. Holding a long sword, he rode Mo Yun and charged forward once more. This time, Lin Changning held nothing back, slashing at Wei Shao's neck with every strike.

After leaving multiple wounds on Wei Shao, Lin Changning finally became certain that the armor worn by the opposing general was just a ruse.

Thinking of this, Lin Changning couldn't help but sneer: "This guy? A centurion? Where did you find that piece of substandard armor? Is the imperial court so stingy that it can't even provide its soldiers with a decent set of armor?"

Wei Shao's face was as black as the bottom of a pot, seemingly angered by Lin Changning: "Enough nonsense, if you want to fight, then fight."

After saying that, he charged at Lin Changning with his spear. Although the man's armor was rather poor, his spear was made of fine steel, and his spear skills were quite impressive.

Wei Shao swung several more spears fiercely at Lin Changning. Lin Changning used his sword to deflect the spear shafts and was about to slash at Wei Shao's chest with his sword.

Suddenly, an arrow shot from an unexpected angle. Lin Changning quickly dodged the arrow, and the next moment Wei Shao swung his horse around and aimed his spear at Lin Changning's face.

Lin Changning slammed the spear off course, but Wei Shao used the momentum to smash the spearhead into Lin Changning's abdomen.

Lin Changning lost his balance and was thrown off his horse. The pain in his waist made him take the situation seriously, and Wei Shao thrust his spear at him several more times.

Lin Changning rolled twice on the ground and pressed the spearhead of Wei Shao down with his knife. Wei Shao tried to flip Lin Changning over, but no matter how many times he tried, the spearhead was firmly pressed to the ground by Lin Changning and did not move.

Lin Changning pressed the tip of his knife down and slashed at Wei Shao along the shaft of his spear. Wei Shao used both hands to brace himself against his horse and flipped off, dodging Lin Changning's blade.

Before the spear shaft hit the ground, he swiftly grabbed it back into his hand.

Lin Changning's blade moved with incredible speed and deadly precision, slashing towards Wei Shao's chest.

In a few exchanges, the two had already exchanged more than a dozen moves.

Not far from Lin Changning, Li Mingde saw Lin Changning being knocked off his horse and thought he was in danger. He frowned and led his personal guards to attack.

As Wei Shao, who was fighting Lin Changning, saw the people around him slowly gathering, he felt a sense of despair.

When Lin Changning and his men first stormed in, he went to inform the commander. Now he is leading his men to organize resistance, but almost all of them are dead, and the commander has not yet shown up.

They must have already run away with their men.

Wei Shao gritted his teeth, thinking about the armor he was wearing that couldn't even withstand a single blow from the enemy.

His molars were grinding together, and as the shouts of battle around him grew fainter, he knew that he was now in a losing situation.

A sense of powerlessness slowly welled up in Wei Shao's heart. Seeing Li Mingde charging towards him, Wei Shao quickly retreated, flipped onto his horse, and prepared to escape.

However, Lao Ma and Lu Shan blocked their way. After Wei Shao knocked Lu Shan off his horse with a spear, he took advantage of the opening to rush out, but was blocked by Lin Changning who caught up with him.

Lin Changning, knife in hand, stared intently at Wei Shao with her phoenix eyes: "You can't escape..."

A sense of powerlessness filled Wei Shao's heart. He was still young, and his mother, younger brother, and sister-in-law were waiting for him at home. He didn't want to die.

Wei Shao clenched his fist tightly around the gun handle, a resolute glint in his eyes, and turned to rush toward Li Mingde.
