Chapter 369 Beating Up the Warrior

Chapter 369 Beating Up the Warrior

Lin Changning watched his commander intently, silently placing his hand on the sword at his waist.

The room fell silent instantly. Lin Changning watched as the seemingly dim-witted man in front of him silently propped his head up, waiting to see what would happen.

As expected, the prince and Li Mingde's expressions were unpredictable, clearly indicating that they were truly angry.

Just as the King of Chu was about to lose his temper and drag the man away, an official behind him put down his chopsticks and wiped his mouth.

He stood up straight, bowed to the prince, and then gave a light bow to Wu Zhidong, who had been shouting.

“Lord Wu, you are exaggerating! The Prince personally presided over the funeral, not to advocate for the rebellious prince, but because he was mindful of the kinship between the imperial family. The Prince conducted the funeral according to the rites of the imperial family, only to maintain the brotherhood. How can this be described as ‘demonstrating against the court’?”

Occasional noise during the banquet, or the mourners' inability to contain their emotions, how can that be considered "indulging in childish games"? The adults keep calling him a "traitorous minister," which is certainly a loyal statement to the emperor, but don't forget that although the rebellious prince was guilty of treason, he was still a descendant of the founding emperor and a prince's brother during his lifetime.

Your Highness's actions today are to preserve the dignity of the imperial family, not to confuse loyalty with treachery. If even this kinship is to be erased, wouldn't the world laugh at the cold-heartedness of the imperial family?

"Your Excellency's concern for the court's discipline is admirable, but to label someone as 'siding with the rebels' based solely on the matter of funeral arrangements is far too harsh. If we're truly talking about rebellion, isn't it likely that someone is using this as an excuse to sow discord between the imperial family and the court?"

Wu Zhidong flung his robe and pointed at the man, shouting, "You cunning, deceitful, and treacherous villain!"

The King of Chu sat in his seat and sneered. This man dared to cause trouble during the funeral today. He must have been instructed by someone. He dared to hold a funeral in public. Why would he care about opposing the court?

I don't know if this person is stupid or just plain dumb. If you really think he would care about his reputation, then you've really miscalculated.

She turned her head and glanced lightly at Wu Zhidong, without saying a word. She simply poured herself a glass of wine, drank it, and then poured another glass and gently spilled it on the ground.

Looking at Wu Zhidong, he chuckled and said, "A toast to you."

After saying that, he smashed the wine cup on the ground. Qi Rong immediately understood his uncle's meaning and was ready to draw his sword and kill the man.

Lin Changning pushed Qi Rong's knife back down and winked at the man: "How can I trouble my second brother to deal with this kind of character? Today, the prince has gifted me this precious sword, so let me give it a try."

After saying that, he stood up from the table, took a few sips of wine from the wine pot, drew his sword, a flash of silver light, and Lin Changning held the sword in one hand and the wine in the other, his handsome face full of mockery.

He walked step by step toward Wu Zhidong, who was quite impassioned.

"Your Highness, Changning has just acquired a precious sword and is itching to spar with it. May I have the honor of practicing with this gentleman?"

The King of Chu glanced at the perceptive Lin Changning and suddenly laughed: "Changning is my confidant."

Upon hearing this, Lin Changning knew that his move had pleased the prince, and he pointed his long sword directly at Wu Zhidong.

"I won't take advantage of you. Someone, fetch Lord Wu's sword."

As he spoke, he stood opposite Wu Zhidong, his phoenix eyes fixed intently on the man opposite him.

Wu Zhidong caught the knife thrown to him by the servant, his face somewhat pale. Lin Changning thrust the knife forward instantly, and Wu Zhidong, being a mere civil official, had no time to react before Lin Changning pointed the knife at his neck.

The precious sword exuded a deep chill, making Wu Zhidong's face turn somewhat pale.

Lin Changning took a swig of wine, smiled sarcastically at the man, and said, "Why isn't the lord drawing his sword?"

As he spoke, he slashed at Wu Zhidong's arm, instantly creating a gash in Wu Zhidong's clothes.

Lin Changning looked at the pale-faced person in front of him and was a little curious. This person didn't seem to be afraid of death, so why did he come here to die today?

Is he really that brave?

Feeling increasingly bored, Lin Changning shrugged and sheathed his precious sword.

"But may I ask for your permission, sir? You will use a knife, while I am bare-handed?"

As he spoke, he turned his head to look at the person opposite him.

Wu Zhidong seemed to have thought of something, and he frantically slashed at Lin Changning with his knife. However, he was too slow, and even an ordinary knife made Wu Zhidong pant heavily as he swung it.

Lin Changning dodged left and right, like a cat teasing a mouse. Watching the human panting and sweating profusely, Lin Changning chuckled and punched Wu Zhidong in the cheek.

He could dodge Wu Zhidong's knife, but Wu Zhidong couldn't dodge his fist. One punch was enough to knock the man to the ground, dazed and confused.

Wu Zhidong staggered to his feet, a flash of resentment in his eyes as he looked at Lin Changning.

He swung his knife at him again, but this time Lin Changning spun around and kicked him several meters away.

Wu Zhidong coughed up a mouthful of blood and lay half-lying on the ground, unable to get up.

Lin Changning stroked his chin, genuinely puzzled as to what was going on with this person. He didn't seem like someone who wasn't afraid of death, so why did he keep doing things that seemed suicidal?

Sensing something amiss, Lin Changning went over and lifted the person up.

Looking at the King of Chu, he respectfully said, "Your Highness, do not let this man tarnish the honor of the royal banquet. I will take him out and kill him."

The King of Chu waved his hand casually: "Go ahead, stay at the palace tonight. Someone, go and prepare the guest room in the Crown Prince's courtyard."

Lin Changning clasped his hands in greeting to the person, then dragged them out step by step. After reaching Lao Ma and the others' table, he gave them a wink.

Old Ma and Old Zhou received a signal from Lin Changning, silently stood up, took their knives and their waist tokens, and followed Lin Changning outside.

Lin Changning was followed by Old Ma. Old Zhou left the Prince's Mansion, climbed onto his own carriage, and casually tossed the person into the carriage, looking somewhat puzzled.

"Judging from your appearance, you don't seem like you want to die. How dare you cause such a ruckus in the Prince's mansion?"

Wu Zhidong chuckled softly, as if struck by a sudden thought: "A treacherous villain!"

Lin Changning glanced at Wu Zhidong, who was still stubbornly refusing to admit it, and grew increasingly impatient: "Speak, who sent you?"

Wu Zhidong, with a mouthful of blood, spat it onto Lin Changning's clothes.

"No one ordered me to do this; it's just that I can't stand it!"

Lin Changning glanced at the blood and saliva stain on the clean blue clothes he had just changed into that morning, reached out and pinched Wu Zhidong's chin, narrowed his eyes and dislocated the man's jaw.

"If you don't want to talk, then don't say anything more."

With a cracking sound, Wu Zhidong's eyes widened suddenly, and he felt his jaw go limp, and his tongue went numb.

Lin Changning lifted the curtain and looked at Lao Ma and Lao Zhou standing outside the door: "Did you bring anyone with you when you came?"

Old Ma nodded: "I didn't bring many, but my personal guards are all here."

Lin Changning grunted, glanced at Wu Zhidong, and said with narrowed eyes, "Bring your men over here. Leave no one from the Wu family alive!"
