Chapter 28 Venting

Chapter 28 Venting

Gu Chengyu stood up, straightened the slightly wrinkled hem of his shirt, and motioned Lin Shu to follow him. The two of them walked out of the lounge one after the other.

Under the awning, filming continues.

This scene is Lin Shu's monologue in the courtyard.

Gu Chengyu walked straight to the director's monitor, pulled over a chair and sat down casually.

When the director and producer saw him, they hurriedly stood up to greet him, but he stopped them with a casual wave of his hand.

"Mr. Gu, look..." The director was a little nervous, not knowing what this gentleman wanted to do.

"You guys are busy, I'll just take a look." Gu Chengyu said in a flat tone, his eyes cast towards Lin Shu who was being basked in the scorching sun in the courtyard not far away.

When Lin Shu saw Gu Chengyu sitting down and watching her filming seriously, she was happy at first, but then she tensed up and decided to perform well.

She took a deep breath and tried to get into the state.

The monologue is over.

"Cut!" the director just shouted before he could say anything else.

“Not enough emotion.”

Gu Chengyu's deep voice rang out right beside the director's ears. It was flat, yet undeniable, "Do it again."

The director was stunned. He checked the playback on the monitor, then looked at Gu Chengyu's expressionless profile. He muttered something inwardly, but still shouted, "Okay! Teacher Lin, let's do another take! Show more emotion! Pay attention to the depth of his eyes!"

Lin Shu adjusted herself under the scorching sun and started again.

"Cut!" This time it was the director himself who called out, "Teacher Lin, your position is a little off, try again!"

"Cut! The rhythm of the lines, start over!"

"Cut! The facial expression is too tense, not natural enough!"

One, two, three... dozens of them!

The midsummer sun was extremely scorching. Lin Shu was wearing a heavy ancient costume. The makeup on her face was a little mottled due to sweat, and her carefully groomed hair was stuck to her forehead and neck.

She felt her skin burning, her throat dry, and her strength rapidly depleted.

Every click made her nerves more tense.

She secretly looked at Gu Chengyu next to the monitor.

He crossed his long legs, occasionally tapping his fingertips on the armrest, staring intently at the monitor screen, without any unnecessary expression on his face.

This made her even more upset and anxious.

She didn't perform well enough and embarrassed herself in front of him.

And the director didn't let her down at all, as if he wanted to make her look bad.

She forced herself to endure the fatigue and burning sensation, repeating it over and over again. She was holding back her anger, but she didn't dare to lose her temper or complain in front of Gu Chengyu.

The director's forehead was also sweating.

Young Master Gu sitting here has an overwhelming aura.

There were clearly a few items that he thought he could pass, but when Gu Chengyu glanced at him or tapped him with his fingertips, he could only bite the bullet and shout "Try again".

Time passed by minute by minute, and it was almost six o'clock.

The sun is slowly moving westward and is about to set, but the heat has not yet dissipated.

Lin Shu felt like she was about to collapse, and her eyes were a little dazed.

"Cut!" After the director shouted this, he almost didn't dare to look at Gu Chengyu.

Gu Chengyu slowly stood up.

His tall figure stretched out in the setting sun.

He raised his hand and gently patted the director's shoulder. The action was casual, but it made the director's shoulders sank.

"Director Li," Gu Chengyu said in a low voice, with an ambiguous tone, "The lead actor's acting skills are the core of the play."

"I think Mr. Lin... still has potential, but he needs to hone his skills."

He deliberately emphasized the word "training" and glanced at Lin Shu, who was being supported by her assistant and putting on makeup in a mess in the distance, with an indifferent look.

"As a director, you have a huge responsibility. You have to be strict when you need to be."

He paused, then said meaningfully, "Don't bother with anyone else's considerations. If it needs to be blocked, it should be blocked. If it needs to be retaken, it should be retaken."

"Just like this afternoon... that's great. Striving for excellence is the true responsibility we take for our work."

The director was startled when he heard this and instantly understood something.

This gentleman wasn't here to watch a show, he was clearly... He secretly wiped the sweat from his forehead and nodded quickly: "Yes, yes, Mr. Gu is right! We must be strict! We will never show favoritism!"

Gu Chengyu hummed in satisfaction, his eyes finally swept towards Lin Shu, a sarcastic arc appearing at the corner of his mouth.

"Since I'm not in good shape today and can't shoot well, let's just call it a day." He said in a relaxed tone.

"Let everyone go back and have a good rest and adjust their condition. Tomorrow, I hope to see more improved performance."

After saying this, he no longer looked at anyone, turned around, and walked out of the set calmly with his long legs.

Lin Shu looked at Gu Chengyu's disappearing back, feeling tired, aggrieved, and even more annoyed.

She really thought that her acting skills were holding her back and she had lost face in front of Gu Chengyu, and she felt very depressed.

The director watched the monitor show Lin Shu's last few performances, which showed obvious exhaustion and declining condition. He then recalled Gu Chengyu's words "just like this afternoon" and "train well", and a layer of cold sweat broke out on his back.

When gods fight, mortals suffer.

Isn't there a rumor that this famous star is Mr. Gu's woman? What's going on now?

He picked up the intercom and said weakly, "Call it a day. Call it a day early."

The set was instantly filled with sighs of relief and the clamor of packing up.
