Chapter 9: First meeting with the assistant

Chapter 9: First meeting with the assistant

The door of the VIP lounge closed gently behind Gu Chengyu, and he took a long step forward to leave.

The corridor was not very spacious, with prop boxes stacked against the wall and staff members walking hurriedly.

His eyes swept around casually, but suddenly stopped when he passed a relatively quiet corner.

There was a cheap folding stool against the wall, and a girl wearing a gray plaid shirt and faded jeans was sitting on it.

She lowered her head, her long hair tied loosely behind her head, with a few strands of hair hanging down, covering half of her face.

A pair of heavy black-framed glasses perched on her nose, almost covering the upper half of her face.

The exposed lower half of the face was gray in color, with only the lips being a delicate red.

The whole person looks rustic and inconspicuous.

What attracted Gu Chengyu's attention was her posture at the moment.

She was holding a thick script, reading it with great concentration.

Her small body leaned forward slightly, and her slender fingertips turned a page.

It's a focused, stubborn and well-behaved look.

The sunlight outlined the beautiful and graceful lines of her back, which was in stark contrast to her rustic appearance.

Gu Chengyu stopped walking.

This look...

Inexplicably, it reminded him of the girl in the flower shop whom he had a fleeting glimpse of that day, whose temperament was like that of a fairy who had strayed into the mortal world.

Although the girl in front of him was very tacky and had a dull complexion, she was completely different from the stunning girl she was that day.

He was kind of funny, and his intuition was sometimes wrong.

But Gu Chengyu subconsciously changed direction and walked towards the small corner.

Su Qianqian is immersed in the world of the script.

The character of Sister Shu is a heroine who is simple and kind in the early stage, and becomes tough after going through hardships in the later stage.

That spirit of perseverance in the face of adversity is exactly what she longs for deep in her heart.

She was so engrossed in watching that she almost forgot her surroundings.

A shadow suddenly fell, blocking the light in front of her.

She raised her head subconsciously.

Behind the black-framed glasses, the pair of watery and clear almond-shaped eyes caught Gu Chengyu's sight.

Even though his eyes were blurred by the lenses, he still lost his focus slightly.

But for Su Qianqian, the real Son of Destiny is more impactful than in the video.

He was too tall, and standing against the light, his shadow was like an insurmountable mountain.

That face, now with a nonchalant smile, looked down at her condescendingly.

Su Qianqian's heart skipped a beat, then accelerated wildly again.

Although she knew that if she stayed with Lin Shu, she would have a greater chance of meeting him.

But today, it was completely unexpected that he walked up to her.

Especially now, she is still hiding her incompetence.

Su Qianqian's fingers gripping the script tightened slightly, suppressing her emotions. She simply kept her head tilted upwards, her eyes trying to remain calm. With a timid and bewildered voice, she asked softly, "Master Gu, is there anything...?"

The girl's voice was so soft and thin that it touched people's bones.

Gu Chengyu sighed inwardly. None of the coquettish women around him could compare to such a gentle and sweet voice.

It's just a pity.

His eyes scanned her face.

Tsk, she is definitely not pretty enough, far from the gorgeous beauties he likes.

But these eyes are surprisingly clean.

Although it is not very clear behind the lens.

Gu Chengyu crossed his arms, leaned forward slightly, and shortened the distance, making the sense of oppression even stronger.

His tone was lazy, with a hint of playfulness, as if teasing a small animal. His eyes fell on the script in her hand: "Are you Lin Shu's assistant? This is her role in the script."

He glanced at the work badge on her chest again, "Su Qianqian?"

He pronounced her name, dragging out the ending tone a little, with an indescribable magnetism.

Gu Chengyu nodded his chin towards the script, the smile on his lips deepening. "So engrossed in reading this? What? You want to be a big star too?"

His tone carried the natural arrogance and frivolity of a superior, as if to say: [Are you worthy?]

Su Qianqian's cheeks were slightly hot under the thick makeup cream, not because she was shy, but because the straightforward teasing aroused a little rebellion.

She lowered her eyelashes, avoiding his gaze, which fell on the name of the heroine on the script.

She did not panic and deny it, nor did she agree timidly.

She just shook her head gently, her voice still soft and thin, but revealing a sense of seriousness and calmness:

"No. I just thought the character was well-written."

Her slender fingertips gently stroked the script, her movements gentle. "She's very strong and brave, the kind of person I admire. So I want to see more of her."

Her answer was beyond Gu Chengyu's expectations.

There was no flattery, no panicked justification, and no grievance of being offended.

It’s just a plain statement, tinged with a bit of sincere yearning for a fictional character.

Gu Chengyu stared at her small face which was lowered and hidden by the glasses and the loose hair.

The persistence that emanated from her well-behaved nature was a bit like the little ragdoll cat he raised as a child.

"Yearning?"

He chuckled, a low, pleasant laugh, "Your little assistant has quite aspirations. Okay, then you can slowly pursue them."

He stood up, and the oppressive pressure subsided slightly.

Gu Chengyu took a final glance at this rustic and somewhat strange assistant and found him boring.

But there seems to be a little bit of indescribable emotion.

Forget it, after all, she is not his type, so a few teasings are enough.

He stopped looking at her, turned around, and walked towards the exit of the studio.

It was not until Gu Chengyu disappeared that Su Qianqian took a deep breath.

Behind the lenses, the timidity and confusion in those clear almond-shaped eyes faded away.

She suppressed the ripples in her heart, frowned and thought: Gu Chengyu is indeed the same as described in the system information, arrogant, proud, and treats others as nothing.

When those eyes looked at her, they seemed to be able to penetrate her disguise, making her instinctively feel danger.

Moreover, he has a very low sense of boundaries when it comes to women.

How can I stand out and leave an impression on him?

Also, she lowered her head and looked back at the script in her hand, her fingertips stroking the name of the heroine.

Isn’t she, Su Qianqian, worthy?

Then who is suitable? Lin Shu?

She remembered that yesterday afternoon, Lin Shu was scolded by the director for her stiff acting, and then he got angry at her in the lounge and poured hot coffee on her. Her shoulder was still red and aching.

She clutched the script.

There is still a long way to go.

She wanted to take away everything from Lin Shu, and wanted him to present it to her willingly.
