Lu Zixiao originally thought that Lu Jiaming was just feeling bad after what happened and wanted to make up for something, so he was so diligent in running around the house.
But when he cooked for two days in a row and gave them diarrhea, Lu Zixiao quickly stopped him and told him not to worry about it now that it was over, and expressly forbade Lu Jiaming from stepping into the kitchen.
Although he no longer cooked later, he was still busy. He would wash the dishes after dinner every day, clean the house after school, and feed the cats and dogs. He did everything well.
Lu Zixiao was pleased with his understanding and diligence, but at the same time, he felt a little worried.
A week passed uneventfully. On Saturday, Lu Jiaming, who was supposed to sleep in, got up early again. He took out the washed clothes from the washing machine one by one and hung them on the clothes rack.
Lu Zixiao hid behind the living room door, folded his arms and watched him busying back and forth, feeling quite complicated for a moment.
"Big brother, are you looking at fourth brother?" Xiaobao walked behind him at some point and asked quietly.
Lu Zixiao nodded and lowered his voice: "Although Jiaming still speaks and acts the same as before, I always feel that he is a little... too sensible. His sensibility makes me feel uneasy."
Unexpectedly, as soon as he finished speaking, Xiaobao nodded in agreement, then moved closer to him and whispered, "Big Brother, I was going to tell you about Fourth Brother... Can I tell you now?"

As he spoke, Xiaobao suddenly thought of something and quickly said, "Big Brother, you said that Fourth Brother has been getting up so early recently. Is it because he hasn't slept much? I wonder how long he has been sitting in the yard..."
When Lu Zixiao heard the last part, his brows were almost wrinkled into a "川" shape. He immediately stood up and said, "I'll go talk to him."
"Okay, okay," Xiaobao responded immediately, "Big brother, you must ask him carefully. I'm afraid that Fourth Brother will get depression if this goes on for a long time."
Lu Zixiao shook his head and said softly, "He's not depressed, I'm just worried that he has a problem, and if he doesn't resolve it, he might get sick."
After saying that, he turned around and strode towards the door. Then he suddenly stopped and asked, "Xiaobao, why have you been waking up all night these past two days? Do you have diarrhea?"
"No," Xiaobao waved his hands repeatedly, "At first I just got up to pee, but after I realized something was wrong with my fourth brother, I got up on purpose for the next two days."
He winked mischievously as he spoke: "I just want to confirm it a little more. After all, seeing is believing."
The smile on Lu Zixiao's face widened: "Thank you for your hard work, clever little guy."
Xiaobao chuckled and watched him go into the yard without blinking.
"Jia Ming" Lu Zixiao called him softly.
"Hmm?" Lu Jiaming turned around and asked in confusion, "What's wrong, big brother? Is there any work you need to do? Just tell me directly, I'm full of energy now and can do anything."
Lu Zixiao looked at him helplessly and shook his head: "No, you have already done all my work."
"Sit down and take a break, let's chat"
Lu Jiaming said "oh" in a daze. Although he didn't know what Lu Zixiao was going to say, he still sat down obediently.
"Have you slept well these days?" Lu Zixiao asked straight to the point.
"...I'm fine." Lu Jiaming tilted his head slightly with a guilty look on his face. "I fell asleep right away and slept through the night."
"Liar!" Lu Zixiao exposed his lie without hesitation. "Your dark circles are so obvious. How could you possibly sleep well?"
Lu Jiaming curled his lips and didn't say anything for a while.
"Tell me, brother, is there something on your mind?" Lu Zixiao asked earnestly, "Is it related to what happened with A-Liu last time?"
Lu Jiaming did not answer immediately, but just lowered his head, looking as if he wanted to say something but hesitated.
Lu Zixiao did not urge him and waited for him quietly after asking the questions.
"Brother," Lu Jiaming said after a while, "Actually, I've been having nightmares these past few days."
"What nightmare?" Lu Zixiao asked.
Lu Jiaming scratched his hair, a trace of pain on his face: "I always dream of the day when A Liu held me hostage, you went to save me, and then they bullied you and hurt you..."
"I was screaming hysterically in my dream and calling for help, but no one paid any attention to me. I was about to collapse."
"Every time I would wake up in shock, tears and cold sweat would keep flowing, making me afraid to sleep. I was afraid, that scene... I was really scared."
Lu Zixiao looked at him with eyes full of heartache, raised his hand to hold his shoulders, and pulled him into his arms, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"How about this, since Jiayang is not home right now, I'll put the two beds in your room together tonight and I'll sleep with you until you stop having nightmares."
"No need, big brother. I'll be fine on my own." Lu Jiaming crawled out of his arms, chuckled and joked, "What if Brother Ze knew that you and I slept in the same bed? He'd be jealous."
