Chapter 135 Retching

Seeing Bai Yujing's serious expression, Ah Hong's heart trembled, but she still tried to hand the snacks to Jiang Huaiyu: "Miss Jiang, you are weak, eat something to nourish your body."

Jiang Huaiyu shook her head gently, a bitter smile on her lips: "Thank you, Miss Ah Hong, but I really don't have an appetite right now."

Bai Yujing coldly said, "Ah Hong, step back."

Ah Hong dared not disobey any longer and retreated to the side in a huff. Jiang Huaiyu looked at Bai Yujing and said firmly, "Yujing, I know you care about me, but I am not a weak person. I can overcome this predicament."

Bai Yujing's brows relaxed slightly, but she was still somewhat worried: "Huaiyu, why are you forcing yourself?"

Jiang Huaiyu smiled gently, her eyes resolute: "Yujing, you know I wasn't born into a prestigious family, but I've never felt inferior. In this difficult situation, I can't let myself appear weak. I want you to know that even without a distinguished family background, I can face everything with strength."

At this moment, Princess Ziyan walked over, gently patted Jiang Huaiyu's shoulder, and said with a smile, "Miss Jiang, I never expected you to be so strong. If you weren't Yujing's wife, I would really like to be your friend."

Jiang Huaiyu smiled and replied, "Your Highness is too kind. It is my honor to get to know you."

A hint of envy flashed in Princess Ziyan's eyes. She said to Bai Yujing, "Yujing, look at Huaiyu. Although she is in a predicament, she remains calm. Such a character is truly admirable."

Bai Yujing smiled slightly and nodded: "What the princess says is true. Huaiyu truly makes me proud."

Ah Hong couldn't help but interject, "Princess, you don't know, Miss Jiang was almost scared by us just now. If it weren't for Young Master Bai arriving in time, she probably would have been in tears by now."

Princess Ziyan glared at Ah Hong and scolded, "Ah Hong, what nonsense are you talking about? Is Miss Jiang such a fragile person?"

Ah Hong dared not speak again, and lowered her head to the side.

Princess Ziyan looked at Jiang Huaiyu, shook her head and smiled bitterly, saying, "Miss Huaiyu, why are you doing this to yourself?"

Jiang Huaiyu gently stroked her belly, a bitter smile on her lips, and replied, "Princess, I have no other wish than that the baby in my womb can be born safely. This is my only wish."

A hint of admiration flashed in Princess Ziyan's eyes. She knew of Jiang Huaiyu's hardships, yet she still held fast to her beliefs. She walked to Jiang Huaiyu's side, gently took her hand, and said, "Miss Huaiyu, I feel sorry for you, but your resilience and perseverance have made me look at you in a new light."

A hint of gratitude flashed in Jiang Huaiyu's eyes. She knew that Princess Ziyan was of noble status, yet she was willing to lower herself to care for her, making her feel warm. She said softly, "Princess, having a friend like you is the greatest fortune of my life."

The two remained silent, and for a moment, the atmosphere in the room became somewhat heavy. Princess Ziyan looked at Jiang Huaiyu's pale face and couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. She knew that Jiang Huaiyu was not in good health, but she still endured the pain and picked up a piece of crab roe pastry for her.

Jiang Huaiyu looked at the crab roe pastry, a struggle flashing in her eyes. She knew her body couldn't handle it, but she didn't want to show her weakness in front of Princess Ziyan. She took a small bite, but immediately felt a strong wave of nausea. She quickly covered her mouth and rushed to the toilet.

Princess Ziyan hurriedly followed, and seeing Jiang Huaiyu's pained expression, she couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache. She handed Jiang Huaiyu a cup of water and said softly, "Miss Huaiyu, why are you doing this to yourself?"

Jiang Huaiyu took the water glass, rinsed her mouth gently, and then spat into the glass. Looking at the scum in the glass, a hint of helplessness flashed in her eyes. She knew this was the pain she had to endure.

Back in her seat, Princess Ziyan looked at Jiang Huaiyu, her eyes filled with guilt. She said, "Miss Huaiyu, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have let you eat this."

Jiang Huaiyu gently shook her head and said, "Princess, it's not your fault. I wanted to eat it myself. I just... I'm just a little disappointed that I couldn't taste it."

Princess Ziyan looked at Jiang Huaiyu with a resolute glint in her eyes and said, "Miss Huaiyu, don't worry, I will let you taste the flavor of this crab roe pastry."

Jiang Huaiyu looked at Princess Ziyan, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes. She knew that Princess Ziyan's status was noble, and there was only so much she could do.

Princess Ziyan smiled gently at Jiang Huaiyu's questioning gaze and said, "Miss Huaiyu, don't worry, I will find someone to develop a medicine for you so that you can tolerate the taste of this crab roe pastry."

Jiang Huaiyu looked at Princess Ziyan, a hint of gratitude flashing in her eyes. She knew this was the limit of what Princess Ziyan could do, and she was deeply moved.

Jiang Huaiyu forced herself to finish the crab roe pastry despite feeling unwell, then squatted down and vomited, clutching her stomach. Her face was pale, her forehead was covered in cold sweat, and she looked extremely weak. Ah Hong stood to the side, her brows furrowed, her face full of dissatisfaction.

"Miss, what's wrong with you? Why did you spit out such delicious crab roe pastries?" Ah Hong couldn't help but ask, her tone tinged with reproach.

Jiang Huaiyu shook her head, retching painfully, too weak to respond. At that moment, Princess Ziyan approached, a hint of amusement in her eyes and a cold smile playing on her lips.

“Ah Hong, you don’t need to feel sorry for her. She brought this upon herself,” Princess Ziyan said with a contemptuous tone.

Ah Hong hesitated for a moment, but still defended Jiang Huaiyu: "Princess, Miss... she didn't do it on purpose."

Princess Ziyan glared at Ah Hong, her eyes conveying a warning: "Whether it was intentional or not, she knows it in her heart. I just feel sorry for her; such a good thing has been ruined by her."

Jiang Huaiyu was too weak to argue; she simply clutched her stomach tightly, her face growing paler and paler. Ah Hong looked at Jiang Huaiyu, a sense of worry creeping into her heart.

“Princess, Miss…she’s health is important, perhaps we should let her rest for a while,” Ah Hong said cautiously.

Princess Ziyan gave Ah Hong a cold look: "Since she dares to be so presumptuous in front of me, she should bear the consequences. Ah Hong, if you plead for her again, don't blame me for being impolite."

Ah Hong bit her lower lip, not daring to speak again. She knew Princess Ziyan's personality; once she made up her mind, nothing could change it.

Jiang Huaiyu looked at Princess Ziyan, a flash of resentment in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure. At this moment, she was no match for Princess Ziyan.

"Princess, I understand," Jiang Huaiyu said with difficulty, forcing back her pain.

Princess Ziyan smiled slightly, her eyes growing colder: "Good that you understand. Ah Hong, go and get a bowl of water so she can rinse her mouth."

Ah Hong responded and went to fetch a bowl of water. Jiang Huaiyu took the bowl, forced herself to rinse her mouth while suppressing her nausea. Then, she squatted down again and began to dry heave.

Bai Yujing watched helplessly as Jiang Huaiyu curled up in agony, his heart breaking. He tried to move forward, but was tightly bound by Princess Ziyan's guards, unable to budge. His eyes were filled with coldness, as if he wanted to slaughter all those who stood in his way.
