Chapter 161 Rogue and Scoundrel

If she is a young woman, how can she be married? And if she is married, how can she still be called a young woman?

At that moment, Deng Shen reacted quickly and rushed over to hug Master Qiu's leg, "Master, you're still alive! I've missed you so much I'm going crazy!"

Master Qiu was so startled by Deng Shen's sudden lunge that he stumbled and failed to catch up with Ling Mo. He saw that Deng Shen was in tears, which almost soiled his brand-new Taoist robe.

This was his most beloved Taoist robe. He had changed into it specifically because of the arrival of Young Master Ling Mo, so as not to be criticized by him. How could he let anyone get it dirty?

He pushed Deng Shen aside impatiently and asked, "Young man, who are you?"

Deng Shen was taken aback, then quickly replied, "Daoist Master, it's me, Shen. You once said you would take me as your disciple and let me inherit this Taoist temple. Have you forgotten?"

Master Qiu's lips twitched slightly; he had indeed forgotten.

Over the years, he has taken in many homeless people, and he has said he would take on every person with potential as his apprentice, but no one has ever been willing to follow him.

Do they all think this Taoist temple isn't good enough?

He looked around but didn't find anything amiss.

Here, there are green mountains and clear waters, where one can absorb the essence of heaven and earth. When hungry, there are delicacies and wild fruits to eat, and if you are lucky, you can even hunt wild game. Why do they all not want to stay?

Deng Shen is still waiting for his reply.

Master Qiu smiled kindly and said, "Oh! It's you, Ashen. What kind of livelihood are you making now that you've left the Taoist temple?"

Deng Shen pointed at Jiang Huaiyu, "Daoist Master, I am now this young lady's personal servant."

"Personal servant?"

Master Qiu smiled inwardly. This person would rather be a servant than come to the Taoist temple. Is he a little foolish?

He took another close look at Jiang Huaiyu, his brows suddenly furrowing as he subconsciously began to calculate with his fingers.

A moment later, a look of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he muttered to himself, "This woman has such a rare destiny... Being able to follow her is a blessing for you."

Although Deng Shen did not understand the deeper meaning in his words, he still smiled and nodded, "That's right, being able to follow this young lady is a blessing I earned in my past life."

Ling Mo's voice came again, "Master Qiu, distinguished guests have arrived at the temple. I think it would be better to slaughter the rooster you raised to entertain them."

"no!"

Master Qiu's expression suddenly changed, and he hurriedly ran over.

Master Qiu, his beard bristling and eyes wide, angrily rebuked Ling Mo: "Ling Mo, as the abbot, how can you be so rash! I haven't even given the order yet, and you've already made the decision on your own. What kind of behavior is this!"

Ling Mo frowned slightly and replied respectfully, "Daoist Master, please calm down. I was being rash. It is truly fate that Miss Jiang and Jiang Huaiyu have met here. I believe we should treat them well."

Master Qiu's expression softened slightly, but he was still somewhat displeased: "Are you aware of the temple's current financial situation? I can barely make ends meet, let alone take care of so many people. Have you considered the people in the temple when you so readily entertain outsiders?"

Ling Mo pondered for a moment and said, "Daoist, I understand your predicament. But Miss Jiang and Jiang Huaiyu are no ordinary people. They may be able to bring a turning point to our temple."

Upon hearing this, Master Qiu's eyes flashed with a hint of doubt: "Oh? What do you mean?"

Ling Mo straightened his robes and said, "Miss Jiang comes from a prestigious family. Her father is an important official in the court. If we can befriend her, it will definitely benefit our temple. As for Jiang Huaiyu, he has extraordinary skills. If we can invite him to stay in the temple, our safety will also be guaranteed."

Master Qiu pondered for a moment, then a smile gradually appeared on his face: "Hmm, you are right. In that case, let's do as you say. However, the hospitality should not be too ostentatious, lest it cause unnecessary trouble."

Ling Mo nodded in agreement: "Disciple obeys. Then, regarding the arrangements for the hospitality, please give me your instructions, Daoist Master."

Master Qiu smiled slightly and said, "You can handle this matter yourself. However, I have something to tell you: this Miss Jiang and Jiang Huaiyu are no ordinary people. You must be careful to avoid making a big mistake."

Ling Mo stood up in solemn respect: "This disciple will remember it."

So Ling Mo began preparing for the reception. He first cleaned up the best guest room in the temple, and then personally cooked a sumptuous feast. After everything was arranged, he went to inform Miss Jiang and Jiang Huaiyu.

Seeing Jiang Huaiyu's silence, Ling Mo explained that although Master Qiu looked like a rogue, he was actually a recluse and was just joking.

Master Qiu misunderstood Ling Mo's words, thinking that Ling Mo was calling him a rogue and scoundrel, so he got angry and prepared to fight. Jiang Huaiyu quickly mediated, telling Master Qiu that Ling Mo had not said anything bad about him, but only told Jiang Huaiyu that he was a person of pure cultivation.

Master Qiu felt embarrassed after hearing Jiang Huaiyu's explanation and coughed to try to ease the atmosphere.

Requirements: Set in an ancient Taoist temple, continue the story based on the above plot, including extensive dialogue and facial expressions between Ling Mo, Master Qiu, and Jiang Huaiyu.

Opening: Ling Mo turned his head and saw that Jiang Huaiyu was silent, so he immediately explained:

During the meal, Ling Mo couldn't help but ask, "Daoist, is this old hen really that important? It's been raised for five years."

Upon hearing this, Master Qiu's expression darkened slightly. He said, "This chicken is the culmination of my efforts. Five years ago, I rescued a hen from being hunted in the mountains and have kept it in the temple ever since. It has been with me for five years and has become my friend. In my eyes, it is not an ordinary chicken."

Upon hearing this, Ling Mo smiled apologetically and said, "I see. I was indeed a bit presumptuous. Rest assured, Daoist, I will never harm your old hen."
