Chapter 167 Letting Go is Also Fulfilling

Bai Yujing excitedly grasped Jiang Huaiyu's hand: "Huaiyu, I promise you, I will work hard to live a good life and never let you worry about me again."

The two smiled at each other, as if they had returned to those beautiful times in the past. Jiang Huaiyu looked at Bai Yujing, and couldn't help but feel a little emotional. She knew that although they were divorced, there was still a connection between them.

Jiang Huaiyu gently patted Bai Yujing's hand and said, "Alright, you can go back now. I'll have someone arrange accommodation for you. If you have any difficulties in the future, you can also come to me."

Bai Yujing nodded, looking at Jiang Huaiyu with a hint of gratitude in his eyes: "Huaiyu, thank you. I will remember your words and try my best to live a good life."

Jiang Huaiyu smiled slightly as she watched Bai Yujing's departing figure, feeling a pang of emotion in her heart.

Bai Yujing lowered his head, remained silent, placed the gold bars on the seat, and got out of the car. His eyes were filled with determination, yet also with a touch of tenderness. He turned back, looked firmly at Deng Shen, and said in a deep voice, "Deng Shen, you must remember, no matter what happens, you must protect Jiang Huaiyu and ensure her safety."

A hint of surprise flashed in Deng Shen's eyes, then he nodded solemnly and said in a deep voice, "Rest assured, Lord Bai, Deng Shen will certainly live up to your mission."

Bai Yujing nodded slightly, then turned to look at Jiang Huaiyu, a hint of tenderness flashing in his eyes. He said softly, "Huaiyu, take care." After saying that, he turned and got off the carriage, leaving Jiang Huaiyu, Deng Shen, and Yingxiang behind.

Yingxiang watched Bai Yujing's retreating figure, a hint of dissatisfaction flashing in her eyes. She turned to look at Jiang Huaiyu, pursed her lips, and whispered, "Madam, look at him, just leaving like that. It's really unsettling."

Jiang Huaiyu gently shook her head, her eyes filled with complex emotions. Looking at Bai Yujing's back, she said softly, "Yingxiang, you know that things between us can't be explained in just a few words."

Sitting in the driver's seat, Deng Shen watched Bai Yujing drive away. He turned to Jiang Huaiyu and said in a deep voice, "Madam, Lord Bai did this for your own good."

Yingxiang snorted coldly and said, "Fine? I think he doesn't care about his wife at all."

Jiang Huaiyu sighed softly. She looked out the window, a hint of loneliness flashing in her eyes. She said softly, "Yingxiang, you don't understand. People's hearts are complicated, and so is love."

Yingxiang wanted to say something, but seeing Jiang Huaiyu's gaze, she shut her mouth and simply sighed softly.

The carriage moved slowly forward in silence, the atmosphere inside the carriage somewhat oppressive.

Just then, Ling Mo arrived on horseback, the sound of his hooves shattering the quiet morning. He dismounted and strode swiftly towards the carriage. Jiang Huaiyu lifted the curtain, and there before her was Ling Mo's strikingly handsome face.

Ling Mo smiled slightly and bowed towards the carriage: "Brother Jiang, I apologize for being late. Miss Yingxiang, I hope you are well as well." His gaze swept over Jiang Huaiyu and Yingxiang, his expression sincere.

Yingxiang gave a slight curtsy and replied, "Young Master Ling, you are too kind. We have been waiting here for quite some time. Young Master Jiang, you see how punctual Young Master Ling is; it is truly admirable."

Jiang Huaiyu smiled slightly and nodded, saying, "That's true. Brother Ling, why did you suddenly decide to leave the capital?"

Ling Mo sighed, his expression grave: "Brother Jiang, you know Princess Linchuan's temperament. She has no ill intentions towards me, but if she suddenly changes her mind, I'm afraid I'll be in trouble. So I must leave as soon as possible to avoid any unforeseen complications."

Yingxiang couldn't help but interject, "Young Master Ling, what will we do if you leave the capital?"

Ling Mo looked at Ying Xiang and smiled, "Don't worry, I'm not going here to run away, but to take care of some things. If I have the chance, I will come back. And with me here, the journey will be relatively safe."

The atmosphere inside the carriage gradually relaxed. Jiang Huaiyu said, "In that case, let's go together. I will personally explain to Princess Linchuan."

Ling Mo shook his head: "Brother Jiang, you don't need to do this. If Princess Linchuan really goes back on her word, I won't blame her. However, I'm worried that she might harm you."

Yingxiang said anxiously, "Then what should we do? We can't just leave the capital like this."

Ling Mo patted Yingxiang on the shoulder and comforted her, "Don't worry, I will arrange everything. As long as you leave the capital, no one will be able to threaten you. As for me, I have my own solutions."

The carriage started slowly, and Jiang Huaiyu, Yingxiang, and Ling Mo chatted and laughed all the way.

Ling Mo pondered for a moment, then suddenly brought up Jiang Huaiyu's ex-husband, Bai Yujing, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.

"Bai Yujing, do you still remember that name?" Ling Mo said softly.

Jiang Huaiyu was slightly taken aback, a barely perceptible pain flashing across her face before she regained her composure: "Of course I remember, he was my ex-husband."

Ling Mo nodded slightly and said, "I've heard that he's outwardly charming and admirable, but inwardly he's blind and unwise. What do you think of him?"

Jiang Huaiyu remained silent for a moment, then gently shook her head without answering. She didn't want to dwell on this topic any longer; the past pain had been enough.

Seeing this, Ling Mo smiled gently and said, "Forget it, let's not talk about him anymore. Huaiyu, have you ever thought about leaving the capital to find a new life? I believe you will meet a kindred spirit who can resonate with you."

A hint of confusion flashed in Jiang Huaiyu's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by determination: "I have had this thought before, but the capital is my home, and I have too many memories here."

Ling Mo gazed at Jiang Huaiyu, his eyes filled with encouragement: "Huaiyu, sometimes, letting go is a form of fulfillment. You deserve a better life, don't be bound by the past."

The two remained silent for a while. Suddenly, Jiang Huaiyu said, "Ling Mo, you're right. I want to be like you, traveling far and wide, seeing places I've never seen before."

Bai Yujing watched from afar as Ling Mo and Jiang Huaiyu's carriage traveled together, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He stood there, his gaze gradually deepening, his expression complex and unreadable.

A bitter look flashed in Bai Yujing's eyes as he thought to himself, "I didn't expect them to be so close. It seems they've developed a deep friendship while I was away." Gazing at Jiang Huaiyu's elegant figure, he couldn't help but recall the time they had spent together.

Inside the carriage, Ling Mo and Jiang Huaiyu chatted and laughed, seemingly oblivious to everything around them. Bai Yujing's gaze deepened, and a surge of jealousy welled up within him. He clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms, yet he remained completely unaware.

“She comes from an official family and is exceptionally talented; she certainly deserves Ling Mo’s treatment,” Bai Yujing thought to himself, but his eyes grew increasingly gloomy. “But when did they meet? Why do I know nothing about it?”

He recalled the day he married Jiang Huaiyu, how frail and helpless she looked, as if she depended entirely on him. But now, she walked side-by-side with Ling Mo, her face beaming with smiles. A sense of loss welled up in Bai Yujing's heart; he felt as if he had lost something precious.

Bai Yujing gazed at the sky, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes. He recalled how he had been forced to leave Jiang Huaiyu and enter officialdom for the sake of his family's interests.
