Chapter 77 A Garment

Bai Yujing gazed at her smiling eyes, his own eyes brimming with tenderness.

"It is like hearing celestial music, which temporarily clears the ears."

A blush rose on Jiang Huaiyu's cheeks. She coughed lightly and said modestly, "Young Master Bai, you flatter me. I am truly unworthy of such praise!"

Seeing that the coachman had already prepared the carriage, she slowly stood up and said, "It's getting late, let's set off."

The two returned to their car and continued their journey.

The journey home was not as urgent as the journey there. They strolled along the way, and it wasn't until the afternoon of the 18th that they slowly arrived at the Bai family's residence.

Not long after he stepped into the house, the old village chief suddenly rushed over and hurriedly called Bai Yujing out.

Jiang Huaiyu then began to sort out the items she had brought from the capital. Apart from her beloved flute, the only other items she had taken from the Jiang family were the dry rations that Hao had carefully prepared for them.

The dazzling array of gifts before her were carefully selected in the capital with her remaining money, and meticulously prepared for her family and friends.

Even though her trip home was rather simple and the Jiang family didn't make many preparations for her, it was still inappropriate for her to return empty-handed.

Jiang Huaiyu first distributed Yang's snacks to the two little ones, then summoned Yang and handed her a lotus-shaped women's hair crown. This hair crown was a popular style in the capital, based on the lotus flower, and placed on the head, it looked like a vivid lotus flower in bloom.

Upon seeing such an exquisite object for the first time, Yang was filled with a mixture of joy and curiosity, and couldn't wait to try it out.

The room was filled with laughter and chatter. Unable to contain her curiosity, Bai Qishi led Xie Wenyin inside.

Upon entering the house, one is greeted by a dazzling array of gifts on the table.

She couldn't help but ask, "Yujing's wife, did you bring all of these from your parents' home?"

Bai Qi glanced at the hair ornament in Yang's hand, a hint of displeasure flashing in her eyes, and said, "As the old saying goes, filial piety comes first. You remember to bring a gift for your sister-in-law, how could you forget about me, your elder?"

When Jiang Huaiyu saw her come in, he hurriedly asked her to sit down.

“Mother-in-law, you’ve really misunderstood me. I’ve always kept you in my heart and was just planning to give you a gift.”

She took out a piece of blue embroidered fabric and said with a smile, "Look, this fabric suits your temperament perfectly. It would be perfect for making autumn clothes."

Bai Qi touched the texture of the fabric, a satisfied smile appearing on her face.

"What a sensible child."

Her gaze then fell on Xie Wenying behind her, and she said, "Yujing's wife, you've always been sensible and reasonable. Although you and Wenying have some misunderstandings, you are still her cousin-in-law. You gave everyone gifts when you came back to your parents' home this time, but what about Wenying's?"

A hint of displeasure flashed across Yang's face.

Her mother-in-law's prejudice was truly ingrained. Ever since that incident, Wenyin had never given her a kind look, and she wouldn't even say a word to her when they met. Only her younger sister was magnanimous and didn't bother to argue with her.

However, she actually expects others to bring her gifts, which is just too much!

She wanted to argue, but was stopped by a look from Jiang Huaiyu.

Jiang Huaiyu smiled slightly and said, "Mother-in-law is right. Since I have prepared gifts for everyone, how could I be biased?"

To avoid unnecessary arguments, she tried her best to choose appropriate gifts for everyone.

However, what she gave to Yang and her two children was something she had carefully selected.

As for the fabrics for Bai Qishi and Xie Wenyin, she simply picked them out at the fabric shop, since the materials were all quite good and they could use them to make clothes or handkerchiefs.

She gently took out a roll of fabric as radiant as a hazy sunset and handed it to Xie Wenyin.

“I know that my cousin Wenyin is negotiating with the matchmaker, so she can’t be careless about her attire. This piece of fabric is brightly colored and can be used to make a new dress. Consider it my small contribution as her sister-in-law to show my care.”

Upon hearing this, Xie Wenyin's expression changed instantly.

Are you in such a hurry to get rid of me?

Jiang Huaiyu raised an eyebrow slightly, her tone calm, "Why do you say that, Cousin Wenyin?"

She turned to look at Madam Yang and Madam Bai, "Isn't Cousin Wenyin choosing a good husband? I sincerely offered this cloth so she could make new clothes for me, is that wrong?"

Madam Yang quickly chimed in, "Sister, your intentions are good; how could they be wrong?"

As she spoke, she gently shook her head at Xie Wenyin, "Wenyin, this exquisite brocade fabric was specially brought for you from the capital by your sister. How can you not appreciate it?"

"I don't care about her stuff!" Xie Wenyin coldly retorted.

Upon hearing this, Yang's face also showed anger.

"Mother, look at her!"

Bai Qishi seemed somewhat helpless.

She had intended to support her niece, but Xie Wenyin had indeed made a mistake today, and she couldn't bear to scold her harshly. She could only gently coax her, "Wenyin, don't be stubborn. Look how beautiful this fabric is. Come here, let me help you try it on, and you'll know its value."

"Auntie!" Xie Wenying seemed somewhat reluctant.

"Come here!" Bai Qishi emphasized.

This child is truly spoiled. How could she not even notice such fine fabric? Jiang Shi didn't upset her today, so why is she acting so coy? Isn't she just making herself look bad?

Xie Wenyin walked over reluctantly.

Bai Qi unfolded the piece of fabric and carefully compared it to Xie Wenying's body. "Your second cousin-in-law's eye is unmatched. This color will definitely make you even more beautiful and charming!"

Xie Wenyin originally had no intention of accepting Jiang Huaiyu's gift, but when she saw the piece of fabric, an idea suddenly popped into her mind.
