Chapter 89 The Truth

Jiang Huaiyu felt a sense of unease. Jiang Wenyuan and Madam Hao's attitudes had already been made clear; they wouldn't summon her back to the manor without a reason. Could it be because of Jiang Shuqin again? Had she already figured out the truth?

Even so, what does it have to do with her?

She had tested him repeatedly last time, and Jiang Huaiyu's answer should have put her doubts at ease, so why was she still pursuing him so relentlessly?

Jiang Huaiyu was unwilling to get involved in these disputes any further, but Jiang Wenyuan's letter used the word "must" multiple times, clearly leaving her no room for refusal. It seemed she had no choice but to return to the Jiang family.

Bai Yujing seemed to see through her thoughts and gently comforted her, "Huaiyu, your father-in-law's letter showed great concern for me. It is a festive occasion, and as his son-in-law, it is only right that I visit him. If there is any trouble, I will be there to protect you. There is no need to worry."

Jiang Huaiyu nodded slightly, her tone calm and firm: "Very good."

On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the two embarked on their journey to the capital. On the day of their departure, heavy snow fell, and they traveled at a leisurely pace, taking four days to finally arrive at the Jiang family residence.

The moment Jiang Huaiyu stepped across the threshold, she immediately sensed something unusual.

What should have been a joyous New Year turned into a gloomy affair, with the servants of the Jiang family all wearing sorrowful expressions, as if shrouded in a dark cloud.

What exactly happened? As soon as they stepped into the courtyard, Madam Hao, unusually, came out to greet them personally, holding Jiang Huaiyu's hand tightly, her tone tinged with reproach: "Why are you so late?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she seemed to realize that her tone had been too harsh, so she quickly put on a smile and said gently, "I have been looking forward to your arrival day and night."

Bai Yujing clasped his hands together apologetically and said, "These past two days have been filled with blizzards, making the roads difficult to travel. As a result, I was delayed for some time on the road. I hope my mother-in-law will forgive me."

Hao waved her hand, indicating that she didn't mind: "It's good that you've come. I couldn't wait to see you all."

Jiang Huaiyu brought Feiyue with him to the capital. Feiyue followed closely behind the two of them, respectfully holding a pile of gifts in both hands.

Hao's gaze finally fell on this unfamiliar face, and she asked in confusion, "Who is this person?"

Jiang Huaiyu smiled slightly and replied, "Her name is Feiyue, and she is my personal maid."

Madam Hao was slightly taken aback, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. She thought to herself, "The Bai family has always been poor, how come they can afford to hire maids now?"

However, she quickly regained her composure and casually said, "I see. This young lady, though young, exudes a sense of composure, which is quite rare."

Jiang Huaiyu took the gift box from Feiyue's hand and handed it to Madam Hao, saying gently, "Mother, these small gifts are a token of our appreciation from Bai Yujing."

Each of the gifts she brought was meticulously packaged, exquisitely beautiful, and clearly of considerable value.

Jiang Huaiyu nodded slightly, her voice calm yet full of determination: "Extremely appropriate."

On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the two of them embarked on their long journey to the capital. That morning, snowflakes fluttered down like the wings of angels. They traveled slowly, resting occasionally, and after four days of wind and frost, they finally arrived at the deep courtyard of the Jiang family.

As soon as Jiang Huaiyu stepped over the high threshold, she immediately sensed an unusual aura.

The New Year should have been filled with laughter and joy, but the servants of the Jiang family all wore worried expressions, as if shrouded in a dark cloud.

What exactly happened? As soon as they stepped into the courtyard, Madam Hao, unusually, came out of the hall herself, tightly grasped Jiang Huaiyu's hand, and asked with a hint of reproach and concern, "Why are you so late?"

Before she could finish speaking, she seemed to realize that her tone had been too harsh, so she quickly put on a smile and said gently, "I have been waiting for you to return day and night."

Bai Yujing clasped his hands together and said apologetically, "Recently, we have encountered heavy snow and the roads are difficult to travel, which has caused some delays on the road. I hope my mother-in-law will forgive me."

Hao waved her hand lightly and said nonchalantly, "It's good that you arrived safely. I can't wait to see you."

This time, Jiang Huaiyu also brought Feiyue with her to the capital. At this moment, Feiyue followed closely behind the two of them, respectfully holding a pile of carefully selected gifts in both hands.

Hao's gaze finally fell on the unfamiliar woman, and she asked with a hint of doubt, "Which beauty is this?"

Jiang Huaiyu replied with a smile, "Her name is Feiyue, and she is my personal maid."

Madam Hao was slightly taken aback, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. She thought to herself, "The Bai family has always been poor, how come they can now afford to hire such a proper maid?"

But she quickly regained her composure and casually said, "I see. This young lady, though so young, exudes a calm and steady air, which is truly rare."

Jiang Huaiyu took the gift box from Feiyue's hand and handed it to Hao Shi, saying gently, "Mother, these small gifts are a token of my appreciation from Yujing and me."

Each of the gifts she brought was meticulously wrapped, exquisitely beautiful, and clearly priceless, leaving everyone in awe.

"Mother, please speak."

"I'm planning to have you try to comfort Shuqin."

"What difficulties has your sister encountered?" Jiang Huaiyu asked calmly.

Madam Hao sighed deeply, her breath filled with endless helplessness. "She...she had a major misunderstanding with the Marquis's mansion, and in a fit of anger, she returned home. She has been here since before the New Year, and despite the Marquis's mansion sending people to invite her many times, she resolutely refuses to return."

"What exactly caused this situation?" A hint of surprise flashed across Jiang Huaiyu's face.
